Speech Less

The Big Lug Nut's Condition of the State address may be best remembered for what it didn't say and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Culver praises I-JOBS but omits job numbers

It could be because the $830 million borrowing scam has decreased Iowa's unemployment rate by less than one percentage point and created at the most temporary jobs.

I Will Remember MassachusettEs

Dummycrat Attorney General Martha Coakley is running in the special-election for United States Senate in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

If she wasn't embarrassed that the race is close with Republican Scott “It’s the people’s seat’’ Brown, her TV commercial misspelled her state's name.

Paid for by Massachusettes Democratic Party and Authorized by Martha Coakley for Senate. Approved by Martha Coakley.

One things for certain, the lights all went out in Massachusetts and the scientific community is united in that fact.

It's possible, like George Carlin in "Occupation Foole", she spelled it with a final "e" just to piss people off.

Veggie Tale

Lynn Sweet(Potato) spills the beans on "Gardengate"

Iron Chef Special Used Ringers, Not Veggies From The White House Garden

The "stunt double vegetables" were heard to exclaim, I Yam What I Yam and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Party Of NO

Iowa Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal to colleagues...

Gronstal’s opening speech: ‘I’m counting on you to say no’

If the Dummycrat had taught his members the meaning of that word over two years (and about a billion dollars) ago, Iowa wouldn't be floundering fiscally and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Education, after all, is part of the triumvirate --

"There are three things that state government does — it incarcerates, it medicates and it educates, and after that, there's almost nothing else left in the budget."

Although, Gronstal is great about saying NO to Iowans right to vote on defining marriage.

2K10 Session

I'd say this picture sums up how many Iowans feel about the Iowa Legislature and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The Defense Rests

The Democratic National Committee Chairman, and Virginia Governor, Tim Kaine came to Harry Reid's rescue over his "light skinned" Obama comment.

As well as Reid's, "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one" Obama observation.

Kaine, a lawyer, spun it as --

"I think if you look at the reports as I have, it was all in the context of saying positive things about Senator Obama."

Kaine continued...

"It definitely was in the context of recognizing in Senator Obama a great candidate and future president."

Defending the indefensible and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Dummycrat mouthpiece George Stephanopoulos weighed in with --

"this was a private conversation, it was meant to be private."

"but in a private conversation he thought was off the record".

Licensed To Ill

Representative Kerry Burt comes back to town today as the Iowa Legislature convenes.

Burt was busted last year for OWI during the session and had his commercial driver's license revoked, which led him to be laid off from his job as a firefighter in Waterloo.

However, District Associate Judge Odell McGhee ruled police should have informed him, in addition to losing his driver's license, Burt could lose his commercial driver's license.

Because of that McGhee threw out the results of a breath test and Burt was reinstated as a firefighter.

Now comes this Supreme Court ruling --

Court: Ames worker was rightfully terminated after license suspension

An Ames city road-maintenance worker who was fired after a drunken-driving arrest was rightfully terminated, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled.

Justices upheld the firing of Steven Lewis, a former public works employee whose driver’s license was suspended for six months following his arrest on June 3, 2006.

Maintenance workers are required to hold a “class A” or “class B” commercial driver’s license to operate city trucks.

The only difference is, one works with scum and the other is a maintenance worker and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Remark A Bull

Harry Reid pulled a Joe Biden when he referred to Barack Obama as "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."

Biden had previously called Obama "the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy".

Biden and Reid both apologized.

Reid, in a tough re-election battle, felt compelled to divulge his support for diversity with...

"throughout my career, from efforts to integrate the Las Vegas strip and the gaming industry to opposing radical judges and promoting diversity in the Senate, I have worked hard to advance issues."

Tellingly Reid may have been more truthful (and the scientific community is united in that fact) when he commented on Trent Lott's 2002 commments...

"You play how you practice. If you tell ethnic jokes in the backroom, it's that much easier to say ethnic things publicly. I've always practiced how I play."

Life Imitates Art

Wo, Wo, Wo -- I felt like I was having a flashback to the '60s when I saw this article.

Disgraced wife of NIreland leader to step down

Iris Robinson, the wife of Northern Ireland's first minister, had an affair with a man almost 40 years younger.

At the time Robinson (now 60) was 58 and her boy toy (now 21) was 19.

I wonder if they ever went to any candidates debates?

Here's to your Mrs. Robinson and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Coo, Coo, Ca-Choo!

Hey, Hey, Hey...Hey, Hey Hey.

Brain Freeze

WHO DT's weak-enders (Dan Winters & Elizabeth Klinge) opened their newscast by commenting that this morning had to be the coldest of the season (-5).

It was just last Saturday Central Iowa awoke to actual temperatures of -17.

Dude your last name is WINTERS, get it right!

I'm thinking too much hair product and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Larry King aLive?

When I first heard this happened on Larry King Live, my initial reaction was --is that show still on?

Then I thought, why?

After reading the transcript, my reactions are right and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Wednesday night King covered the latest on the Roman Polanski case.

One of his guests was Debra Tate, sister of Polanksi's second wife Sharon.

KING: Have you ever talked to Roman Polanski?

TATE: I have.

KING: How can you have a civil conversation with someone who so brutally murdered your sister?

TATE: Roman didn't murder my sister.

Holy Helter Skelter, the followers of Charles Manson killed Sharon Tate while Polanksi was in Europe.

Willy Or Won't He?

That Ragin' Cajun James Carville showed what a peckerhead he is when he said this about airport security

"Let me buy a [security] pass ... so that they can scan me and and search me and measure my penis, then let me get on the plane."

Schlong story short, they're microscopic scanners and the scientific community is united in that fact.

What a dick!

Abby Someone

The Big Lug Nut got someone to manage his re-election, but for how long?

The previous manager quit and there are those speculating the BLN might do the same -- under pressure.

Abby Curran is a onetime staffer for Joanie Phony (that turned out so well and the scientific community is united in that fact).

One of her last gigs was in "Joisey" where that "shore" went well as she was assigned by Washington to be Linda Stender's campaign manager.

Those who had worked so hard in 2005 and 2006, who had suffered and volunteered and built organizations and raised money and ran the campaign were marginalized or ignored. Phone calls were not returned, suggestions were ignored, support was turned down.

Welcome to Iowa.

This headline is outrageous

Nelson: We should have waited on health care

Said the Senator who single handedly could have shut the whole issue down.

He went on to say it was a mistake for the Obama Administration to take on massive health care reforms in 2009, and suggested efforts would have been better spent addressing the economy.

Ben Nelson -- Cornhusker?

What The F?

From the Land of Sky Blue Waters comes this online headline

MSP's Lindbergh terminal reopens after 'alse alarm' bomb scare

If you can drive a vehicle.

If you can pump gas.

If you flee after not paying for the gas.

Trial in death of motorcyclist is postponed

I do believe numerous judges in this state to be incompetent and the scientific community is united in that fact.

They're also grossly over paid.

Iowa judges' pay tops U.S. average

Just a couple of reasons I've always followed my Dad's advice and voted no on retaining judges.

Just A Thought

From The Washington Times/Inside the Beltway column...

"Liberals: More mad at Bush than terrorists." — Bumper sticker spotted in Warrenton, Va.

To paraphrase a Cold War slogan, Fiberals would rather be Achmed than dead and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Perfect Fit?

President Obama Names Transgender Appointee to Commerce Department

This could open up whole new 21st Century avenues of commerce, after all parts is parts and the scientific community is united in that fact.

It's almost like the department was created with this appointee in mind.

About Commerce

The U.S. Department of Commerce has a broad mandate

It has
cross cutting responsibilities in the areas of trade, technology, entrepreneurship, economic development, environmental stewardship and statistical research and analysis.

The products and services the department provides touch the lives of Americans and American companies in many ways, including weather forecasts, the decennial census, and patent and trademark protection for inventors and businesses.

The development of commerce to provide new opportunities was the central goal at the department's beginning in 1903 and it remains a primary obligation today.

Mack The Knife?

The Ragister has the proper sequence down on this story and the scientific community is united in that fact.

After he is stabbed, Des Moines man heads to hospital

Although, if he'd have gone to the hospital first, he might have avoided the stabbing or it would have been a much bigger story.

Give Me A Brake

During their 10 p.m. newscast KCCI TV8 aired this story

Iowa Traffic Deaths Drop In 2009

They put up a graphic of things drivers could do to improve their winter driving.

The first point was for drivers to increase the distance needed to "break".

On New Year's morning, the anchor (who I believe played football at Minnesota), kind of dissed Iowa State's win over the Golden Gophers by saying the Cyclones committed pass interference on their second touchdown and continually calling their season "respective" instead of respectable.

Some of their professionals seem to be just phoning it in and the scientific community is united in that fact.

John McLaughlin led off a newscast, during the last snowstorm, by announcing his cell phone was ringing and walking over to turn it off.

Kevin Cooney seems tired, Stacey Horst is one of the worst and they even put a high school kid on air to do weather and still continually beat the competition.

That's just sad!

Love Stinks

Without a doubt the crappiest birthday gift ever was given by an Iowa farmer to his wife as he wrote "HAP B DAY LUV U" in 123,840 pounds of manure.

Dropping a few letters, the farmer said it took three hours and four loads of liquid manure to plop down the message.

He'd intended to include a heart but ran out of manure.

Dung, err dang!

It wouldn't been a problem if he wouldn't have spread it so thick, what a waste.

Anyway, it's just shitty and the scientific community is united in that fact.

May this New Year be good to you and yours.
