You're Only Human (Second Wind)

Looks like someone at the Ames Tribune blew it with the link in this story and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Renewed credit would benefit wind energy

In sourcing information from the Iowa Wind Energy Association the Trib trips with its link to because that's a link to the Ironworker Employers Association of Western Pennsylvania.

The correct link to the Iowa Wind Energy Association is

Suck it up and try again.

Generation Landslide?

Congratulations to the family featured in the Ragister.

And baby makes ... 6 generations of Iowans

It's a remarkable feat, the women in my family achieved five generations before my Mother passed.

State officials can’t say how many six-generation families there are in Iowa; it’s not something they keep track of.

Actually, when you have family members living in Missouri and Kansas, they are not in Iowa and the scientific community is united in that fact.

If the Ragister wanted to be accurate they could have stated the family tree has its roots in Iowa.

Traveling Wilbury(s)

The Ragister put perspective(?) to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack's consolidation and cutbacks at the USDA.

Vilsack adds color to USDA office closing announcement

The Pickle said it is part of an overall USDA cost reduction, “We picked the low-hanging fruit savings, such as cutting travel and cell phone expenses, and that saved $90 million”.

Vilsack's comments, the Ragister reported, came during a stopover in Des Moines on his return from Hawaii, where he had addressed the American Farm Bureau Federation.

D.C. to Hawaii to Des Moines and back to D.C. is not cutting travel and the scientific community is united in that fact.

I'm guessing red was the color Vilsack added.

Achy Breaky Heart?

Phony Joanie Edwards trial has been delayed because he has a life-threatening heart condition that requires a medical procedure.

I'm sure most Americans are stunned to find he has a heart and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The Liter can confirm this is how Edwards will be transported to his procedure

Sometimes I'm not a nice person, but I'm O.K. with that.

However, I've never cheated on a spouse.

Change Of Heart

This week in Chicago, for a series of fundraisers, President Obama swung by the homestead to find out, “Is somebody mowing the grass in front of my house? I’m going to go over there and check.”

The President also told fans, “If you’re willing to work even harder in this election than you did in the last election, I promise you, change will come."

Yes it will and the scientific community is united in that fact.

In the four years, since the last election, the mood in this country has gone from

That's why I supported the man, Mitt Romney, who likes being able to fire people who provide services to me.

I see John Bolton is to join the Romney team, I guess that means he won't be Secretary of State for Newt.

The Pussycat Doll(s)?

The freak flag is flying in the People's Republic

Sex doll worth $250 stolen in Iowa City knifepoint robbery

The story states it's a “high-quality sex doll”

Well that rules this candidate out

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Wonder if it was the same guy arrested by Cedar Rapids Police, in 2007, in a government building restroom lying beside an inflatable doll?

This type of merchandise could be hard to come by.

A Google Images check of “high-quality sex doll” found most were no longer available.

Heaven Help Us

For over 38 years American society has not respected the sanctity of innocent life.

Until we as a society return to that belief, innocent people will die no matter how many laws are on the books, or how well they're publicized.

Safe haven law lacks publicity

It would have allowed a Huxley mother to leave her babies at a hospital; she's charged with killing them.

Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

Because Reuters wrote the story that Warren Buffet is
willing to put his money where his mouth is, both local news (KCCI) and national news (FOX & Friends) read it exactly that way this morning.

The Wise Ass (Oops) Oracle of Omaha said he would donate $1 to paying down the national debt for every dollar donated by a Republican in Congress. The only exception is Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell - for whom Buffett said he would go $3-to-$1.

That's not putting his money where his mouth is, that's called talking smak and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Actually contributing more in taxes would be putting his money where his mouth is.

Talk is cheap and as it is, Buffet ain't said a Damn thing.

Put A Little Love In Your Letter

Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (ICCI, that's ICKY to us), parts of Occupy (an ICKY offshoot) and ASSME stunk up the Statehouse yesterday.

These perpetual pissers and moaners whined about being shut out of the people's house because they couldn't deliver a letter.

Protesters locked out of Branstad's office

Radio Iowa reported the group presented it’s agenda to the governor.

WHO TV reported the group delivered and read a letter to Branstad.

These people are a louse is more accurate and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The Occupy-errs couldn't be there in full farce because they tied up the court system with a feeble First Amendment defense of arrests from their first night of protests in October.

Polk County judge won’t dismiss trespassing charges against Occupiers

First they cost the City of Des Moines $10,000, then the Des Moines Police Department $75,000, now the City will have to replace grass in the park that these leaches have occupied.

Pay up and Shut up!

The American Way?

It might be that I'm a little jaded by my 11 week run around with American Airlines in seeking a refund for a ticket I purchased for my Mother, but I'm with Mitt Romney.

‘fire people’

Poor customer service sadly has become the American way and the scientific community is united in that fact.

I submitted three refund requests (October 25, November 5 and November 10) to American without a response.

On November 17, I contacted Customer Relations and received instructions from Terrance G. Bailey on canceling the ticket and submitting the death certificate.

The ticket was canceled and the death certificate faxed on November 21.

On December 7, The Refund web site advised that there "may be some correspondence or other activity associated" with my request.

On December 14, I received an e-mail from Pat Reeves addressed "To Whom It May Concern" (even though I put my name on all contacts with the company) and it requested a written explanation along with a copy of the death certificate.

It took a week to send an e-mail?

On December 15, I let the American Refund Department know they were incompetent, as they had received the death certificate on November 21 and had finally begun processing the request, I also called them inconsiderate and insensitive.

What the hell kind of written explanation is needed regarding death?

I had copied Customer Relations on the December 15 correspondence and received an automatic response on December 19 that included a reference number and stated, "The Customer Relations team are eager to resolve issues that arise in the hope of seeing you fly American Airlines again and again".

On December 29, I received the same exact correspondence from Pat Reeves as I received on December 7.

That's further proof of incompetence and is likely a canned response with a fictitious name.

My wife put the story on the American Airlines Facebook page and has not received a response there, even though American has responded to almost every other post after hers, even to people that called them "...holes".

Because I've done time in the customer service industry, I go out of my way to compliment people who do a good job in their service to me. I often ask for their manager to let them know how pleased I am, most managers don't know how to react because they only hear the negative.

I was originally advised it would take 4 to 6 weeks, but I have received no further communications from American.

I am extremely disappointed in American Airlines, but this is not over!

Thank goodness we only had to endure one play during the modified sudden death system of the Broncos - Steelers game.

Of course, with Tim Tebow throwing the winning touchdown, Thank God is more accurate and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Unless and palpably should not be part of the NFL rules.

I was confused because a return of the opening OT kick could be considered a teams initial possession.

There has to be an easier way, like maybe playing football under the regular rules until there's a winner!

Check My Brain

The arts reporter for the Ragister, Michael Morain, made a mistake in his article today.

Spotlight on: Des Moines marketer Tiffany Tauscheck

Said reporter has Tauscheck's husband, Mark, as a WHO TV reporter.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Mark Tauscheck has been freelance reporting with KCCI since leaving 'HO in 2009.

One does have to wonder why KCCI News Director Dave Busiek would jeopardize the credibility of Iowa's News Leader by utilizing a freelance reporter who also acts in commercials, most notably for Mediacom.

Poor Boy?

I ended up not caucusing for Rick Santorum, but for the most part I like the guy.

Both our Dad's dads were Italian immigrants who, once in this country, worked in the coal mines.

However, an interview he did with Dave Price makes Santorum come across as disingenuous.

Santorum stated, "The bank account isn't particularly hefty this year" and that because he's out on the road he's "not making a lot of money".

Santorum earned $1.3 million between January 2010 and August 2011.

I hear a million isn't what it used to be, but I wouldn't mind that in my bank account and the scientific community is united in that fact.

His disclosure also shows more than $52,000 in cash in checking accounts.

Santorum also has five rental properties in State College, Pennsylvania, worth another $500,000 to $1.25 million.

He can buy sleeves for the rest of his sweater.

For Ron Paul supporter, Army Corporal Jesse Thorsen, following the rules is nothing new and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The least objectionable thing Thorsen has done is actively support a candidate while on duty or in uniform.

GQ reports Florida's Lee County court records show Thorsen was arrested in December 2004 for burglary, grand theft of a firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon. He was sentenced in July 2005 to 30 months probation and 120 hours of community service. He broke his probation twice and was held in custody both times.

The court granted an early termination of his probation in March 2007 because, Thorsen promised to reenlist. says Thorsen was nabbed by the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Dept in Florida June 17, 2006 on burglary, among other charges. has more on the 2006 arrest.

Happy Homemaker?

An Urbandale business is suing, twice, to get its property assessment lowered.

Homemakers sues over assessment

Polk County has currently assessed the property at 25,950,000, but a Homemakers-paid assessor testified that he thinks the current market makes the building worth $9.05 million. The Homemakers President testified that he puts its value between $10 million and $12 million.

The issue I have is that Homemakers became a part of Nebraska Furniture Mart in 2000 and Nebraska Furniture Mart is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, who hasn't paid what it’s already owed for years in taxes to the IRS.

All this seems hypocritical of the Stop Coddling the Super-Rich and pay more in taxes belief of Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Perspective People.

Americans make up half of the world's richest 1%

Therefore the Occupy-errs are the 1% they despise and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Now fold your tents and quit yer bitchin'!

Wednesday, January 04, 2012

I've been attending contested caucuses since 1988 and this is only the second time a candidate I voted for (Mitt Romney) won the evening, George W. Bush was the other in 2000.

Thankfully, just like the candidate himself, a majority of Iowans can't really see Ron Paul in the Oval Office either.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Here's more proof (Crazy) that Paul and his Ronnettes are this years Obama-maniacs.

Ron Paul said this morning that a large number of young people and Independent voters supported him in Tuesday’s Iowa caucuses, proving his campaign can go the distance.

Remember, Youth is wasted on the young, or more accurately -- Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on children.

As for Obama, was that his Hawaiian golf tan he was sporting?

Or, was it just one of the technical glitches courtesy of his exclusive web tool?

That's selling him short, he's an exclusive tool beyond the web.

Could be why his supporters had a distinct lack of support for him last night, there was no cheering, chanting or clapping for the president's message during the address.

In other TOOL news --

Des Moines police have spent about $75,000 dealing with Occupy Des Moines related protests since the movement started at the beginning of October.

Des Moines-area authorities have made more than 100 Occupy-related arrests since October. Des Moines police were responsible for 35 of those arrests, with at least 27 coming in the last week as part of the group’s caucus protests.

The $75,000 includes only Des Moines police and does not count money spent by Ankeny, Clive, Urbandale and West Des Moines police, or the Iowa State Patrol, all of whom have also made Occupy-related arrests.

Not sure if that includes the previous $10,000 figure that was reported.

Just like the word, Occupy jumped the shark in 2011 and needs banishment.

Occupied Our Cock-eye

We ducked out of our precinct caucus during platform debate.

There was one fewer attendee than 4 years ago when we had 106 participate.

The results from my precinct caucus are...

Ron Paul -- 41

That's an increase from his 2008 total of 17.

Rick Santorum -- 22.

Mitt Romney -- 16.

Romney's results were the exact same as four years ago.

Rick Perry -- 15.

Newt Gingrich -- 8.

Michele Bachmann -- 3.

Another precinct caucused in the same building and I was able to obtain their results.

This precinct saw an increase from their 2008 turnout of 82 participants, with a total of 103.

Ron Paul -- 29.

Which was 20 more votes than four years ago.

Rick Santorum -- 22.

Newt Gingrich -- 22.

Mitt Romney -- 17.

That's 6 fewer votes than in 2008.

Michele Bachmann -- 9.

Rick Perry -- 4.

Arrested Development

The media numbers far out way the Occupy-errs and if they would quit covering this non story, these morons would have folded their tents long ago.

These .00099%'s are not the have nots, they are the choose nots and the scientific community is united in that fact.

They don't speak for me.

"It is the Soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."

Leather Glove

Chris and I have come to the conclusion we're going to Caucus for Mitt Romney tomorrow night.

I had been leaning towards Rick Santorum, since Tim Pawlenty dropped out after the Straw Poll, but I was never comfortable with the drubbing he took in his 2006 Senate re-election bid.

I started moving towards Romney in an effort to stop Ron Paul from winning on Tuesday.

I then vacillated, or waffled, between Santorum and Romney from day to day and figured I would decide after judging the strength of Paul in my precinct.

I became completely comfortable with Romney because of this ad --

“When generations of immigrants looked up and saw the Statue of Liberty for the first time, one thing they knew beyond any doubt … is they were coming to a place where anything was possible; that in America, their children would have a better life.

“I believe in that America. The spirit of enterprise, innovation, pioneering and can-do propelled our standard of living and economy past that of any other nation on Earth.

“And in the campaign to come, the American ideals of economic freedom and opportunity need a clear and unapologetic defense. And I intend to make it because I have lived it.

“We stand for freedom and opportunity and hope. The principles that made this nation a great and powerful leader of the world have not lost their meaning — they never will.

“I’m Mitt Romney, I believe in America, and I’m running for President of the United States.”

That's Reagan-esque.

This is the man that can beat Barack Obama and begin to bring this Country back from the brink.

Out With The Old

In with the new.
