Rare Earth

I prefer mine medium well.

Get Ready, cause here it comes.

07/07/07 & Live Earth.

Don't they know it's the end of the world?

A Daily Mail investigation has revealed that far from saving the planet, the extravaganza will generate a huge fuel bill, acres of garbage, thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions, and a mileage total equal to the movement of an army.

The most conservative assessment of the flights being taken by its superstars is that they are flying an extraordinary 222,623.63 miles between them to get to the various concerts - nearly nine times the circumference of the world. The true environmental cost, as they transport their technicians, dancers and support staff, is likely to be far higher.

The total carbon footprint of the event, taking into account the artists' and spectators' travel to the concert, and the energy consumption on the day, is likely to be at least 31,500 tonnes of carbon emissions, according to John Buckley of Carbonfootprint.com, who specialises in such calculations.

Throw in the television audience and it comes to a staggering 74,500 tonnes. In comparison, the average Briton produces ten tonnes in a year.

The concert will also generate some 1,025 tonnes of waste at the concert stadiums - much of which will go directly into landfill sites.

Moreover, the pop stars headlining the concerts are the absolute antithesis of the message they promote - with Madonna leading the pack of the worst individual rock star polluters in the world.

Oh the hypocrisy!

Tweedle Dum Al (the 2nd), the father of Gore-bull warming, should be acting more like a father and trying to save his son (the 3rd).

I guess I shouldn't expect too much, his father (the 1st) was an asshole too and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Tweedle Dee Hellary weighed in on the concert...

"The scientific consensus is clear and overwhelming: we are causing the planet to warm, with potentially devastating consequences to ourselves and our children. We need to take immediate steps to address this problem, and I applaud everyone who is participating in Live Earth for demanding action..."

CON sensus is more like it.

In an article entitled...

Alarmist global warming claims melt under scientific scrutiny.

Many of the assertions Gore makes in his movie, ''An Inconvenient Truth,'' have been refuted by science, both before and after he made them.

Then there's this article...

Global warming debunked

Man's contribution to the greenhouse gases was so small we couldn't change the climate if we tried.

What about?

Oldest DNA ever recovered shows warmer planet

Scientists who probed two kilometers (1.2 miles) through a Greenland glacier to recover the oldest plant DNA on record said the planet was far warmer hundreds of thousands of years ago than is generally believed.

(Aaahh) Get ready, cause here I come (on my way)...

Turning lights off when you aren't in the room, unplugging small appliances when you aren't using them, driving fuel efficient cars, using compact florouscents bulbs all save money and help the environment. It is a win-win situation. However, Conservatives would rather attack and continue their wasteful ways. What happened to the conserve in conservatives?
