Mexico?

CONgressman Bruce Braley, Dummycrat Aztlan, issued a statement celebrating Cinco de Mayo.

"On May 5th in 1862, a small band of determined Mexican soldiers defeated a well-equipped invading army. That battle in the city of Puebla is now celebrated as a symbol of patriotism and liberty. Those are values that all Americans share and treasure. On this day, I salute the Mexican-American community in Iowa and around the country for their contributions to our great nation. I hope all Iowans will join me in celebrating Cinco de Mayo. ¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

This is odd in so many ways and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Most in Mexico don't celebrate the battle, and Mexico ended up losing that war to the French.

On June 7, 2005, the U.S. Congress issued a Concurrent Resolution calling on the President of the United States to issue a proclamation calling upon the people of the United States to observe Cinco de Mayo with appropriate ceremonies and activities.

June 7th?

Wouldn't May 5th been better?

How do most Americans celebrate?

That's appropriate.
