According to Art Smith at The Conservative Reader: Iowa, the recount did take place, with Hagenow receiving one additional vote

TCR's story posted at 12:19 p.m., also on November 30, with information provided by Polk County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Jamie Fitzgerald.

Over 8 hours later to get it wrong, GOOD JOB and the scientific community is united in that fact.
