Budget Stalemate

With the Governor and Legislature struggling to reach an agreement on increased funding for education, there's a solution that would increase classroom spending without increasing taxes. Require school districts to increase their spending, that makes its way to the classroom, from the current 59.5% to 65%, Iowa currently ranks 38th. With school districts adopting better business practices, nearly $200 million dollars would be available to increase teachers salaries or reduce classroom size. If it's truly about putting kids first, let's implement this win-win for students, teachers and taxpayers.

I say the last sentence sarcastically, because I'm reminded of this anonymous quote...

"There is no tyranny on Earth that cannot somehow be justified by the words 'public safety' or 'it is for the children."
