Bonds Vs. The Babe

Barry Bonds comes across as racist with his attacks on Babe Ruth. At the All-Star game in 2003, after he passed his godfather Willie Mays, Bonds said he had his sights on only one man. "The only number I care about is Babe Ruth's. Because as a left-handed hitter, I wiped him out. That's it," Bonds said at the time. "And in the baseball world, Babe Ruth's everything, right? I got his slugging percentage and I'll take his home runs and that's it. Don't talk about him no more." Why get worked up over the Babe? Babe is second on the home run list, why not try to go after number one, Hank Aaron? That's what most athletes would do, in any sport! Yesterday Bonds hit his chemical assisted 713th home run and was asked if he considers himself better than the Babe. Bonds said, "I don't know yet, but the numbers speak for themselves." So, I went to MLB.com and checked their stats. Bonds has played in more games than the Babe: 2756+ vs. 2503; Bonds has more at bats: 9205 vs. 8399; the Babe has a better on base percentage than Bonds: .469 vs. .443; the Babe has a better slugging average than Bonds: .690 vs. .611; the Babe has a better batting average than Bonds: .342 vs. .300. I guess the numbers do speak for themselves. In addition Babe Ruth single handedly saved baseball after the 1919 Chicago Black Sox scandal. Barry Bonds has brought shame to the game with his desire for better living($) through chemistry!
