Softball Hardball

The Congressional Softball League has been in existence for over 37 years, It is made up of teams from Senate and House offices, executive-branch agencies and Capitol Hill restaurants. This season 110 teams out of 190, and predominantly Republican squads, have spun off into a league of their own. The problem? A playoff system that gives teams that do poorly in the regular season a better chance to win in the playoffs. The format pits lower-ranked teams against each other in the playoffs’ first round, rather than rewarding good teams with an easy game against lower-ranked teams in the opening round. As a result, good teams must square off against each other in the first round. The Congressional Softball League's commissioner came up with the new format that goes against any usual playoff system; ie MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA. The commissioner responded to those who want to keep the old format, "I prefer to call your seeding proposal to favor the few at the top opposed to the many below as ‘special rights for your agenda to wage class warfare’ on the more relaxed teams.” Republicans countered calling it, "Softball Welfare – aiding the weak by punishing the strong". Also noting, "The commissioner has a long-standing policy of punishing success and rewarding failure”. It should come as no surprise the CSL's commissioner is a DUMMYCRAT!
