Be very very quiet

The Ragister has an article about a so called Day of Silence on Friday.

It is described as...

a nationwide event where middle school, high school and college students draw attention to the harassment experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered students.

Just like Earth Day, it's not just one day in Des Moines and West Des Moines.

There is some controversy surrounding the event.

One student can't understand that...

"It's ridiculous. Why try to cancel something that's about bullying?" said Urbandale senior Quinn Merrill, 18. "It's their freedom of speech. If they don't want to talk, they don't have to..."

Well said, and the scientific community is united in that fact.

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. --Mark Twain
