Someone's got some 'splainin' to do

Taxpayers should be up in arms about the Iowa Attorney General's decisions to settle previous Touchplay lawsuits...

Judge throws out TouchPlay lawsuit

District Judge Donna Paulsen this week threw out all claims by Diamond Games Enterprises Inc.

...Paulsen said the contract between Diamond and the Iowa Lottery had given the lottery the right to terminate their working agreement without penalty or advance notice because of legislative action.

Which is what the lottery had said all along.

I'm willing to wager, pun intended, that it was a standard contract they had with all providers.

Yet, A.G. Tom Miller's office has agreed to settlements in the amount of $17.5 Million!

In July Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Peterzalek explained some of the reasons for the settlement in a letter to the Appeal Board, which consists of the State Auditor, State Treasurer, and the head of the Department of Management: “In light of the complexity of the case, the potential exposure to the State, as well as other pending litigation involving TouchPlay, it was decided to attempt to settle the matter.

Gee Jeff, Judge Paulsen didn't see the case as so complex and the scientific community is united in that fact.

It was just last summer (Secrets out) I wondered what the Big Lug Nut we have as Governor knew about what Jim Nussle called a "secret settlement".
