Yarrr Genius

It's a slam my wife and I do whenever we hear something really stupid. That's my feeling about the Ragister's idiotorial regarding making voting easy, ala Idol. They're impressed that 63.4 million votes were cast for the latest American Idol. They do note, but gloss over, the fact that fans can vote more than once. Fans have unlimited voting ability from a regular phone line and a cell line by calling toll free numbers. Votes can also be text without limit, although there may be a charge. Votes don't equal voters! Nielsen ratings, a guestimate, show 42.9 million people watched the last half hour of the show on Wednesday. In 2004, according to the Federal Election Commission, there were 122.3 million votes cast for all presidential candidates. I don't get why the idiotorial board is impressed. Voting in this country is easier than it has ever been thanks to absentee balloting. One can vote from the convenience of the recliner in their own home. The only changes that need to be made are to ensure only those truly eligible are voting only once!
