As I RECALL
I first advocated the right of Iowans to recall elected officials in 1992. That was after the Iowa Trust Scandal, brought to you by Senator Joe Welsh of Dubuque.
Now, Iowans frustrated by the Central Iowa Employment and Training Consortium (CIETC) debacle(brought to you by folks like Archie Brooks, Tom Vlassis, Ako Abdul-Samad and John Mauro) are signing worthless petitions trying to get them to resign their public positions.
I guess they believe that these people will finally aquire a conscious or that they can be publicly humiliated---HA! Look at these mugs, there's nothing that would embarrass them.
As it is now, Iowa law is too wishy-washy on removing elected officials. It either requires other elected officials to get involved for removal or citizens would need to petition the court, and that requires they put up thousands of dollars in bond.
It's time for the Legislature to pass a bill to allow for direct recall of elected officials.
Signatures on petitions could be gathered to place recall of that official on the ballot. If there are enough signatures a recall election would go forward. Two measures would be placed on the ballot. The first being, Should this official be recalled? If so, the second measure would determine the successor(also placed on the ballot by signatures).
Citizens should be able to hold their representatives accountable and not have to wait for the next election to throw the bums out.
If I get a Republican Representative in my district this fall, I'll bring this suggestion to him.
The current Dummycrat is just that! Plus, I'm sure he wouldn't support removing these Dummycrats pictured.
