Manifest Destiny

Chris used to work for the Ragister and recently we ran into a lady she knew from there who had retired.

They reminisced and the lady shook her head and said, "It's not the place I started with".

I interjected, "It's not the paper it once was."

For me that means about 10 years before they stopped printing The Big Peach and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Case in point.

The Ragister has been high on the Project Destiny bandwagon and recently had a story about the money raised by those for and against the project.

Reporter Jeff Eckhoff said the supporters had raised $770,000 (mainly from corporations).

Eckhoff continues.

...the proposed tax, which supporters say would generate roughly $750,000 over 10 years--or slightly less than what already has been raised by the Yes to Destiny campaign.

Wrong!

The tax would generate $75 MILLION a year and $750 MILLION over 10 years.

The Ragister issued a correction the next day, but that was more than just an error.

Per the Merriam-Webster online dictionary...

manifeste, from Latin manifestus caught in the act, flagrant, obvious.

The vote is today and I'm hoping the date with Destiny is rejected.
