Retirement

The Principal at Des Moines Lincoln High School, Albert Graziano (pictured?) is seeking early retirement after 44 years.

Big Al, as we called him at North High back in the '70s, was a mere Assistant Principal then.

After 44 years EARLY retirement seems like a misnomer and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Chris's father is taking the early retirement package from the state after 40 years, his party is tomorrow and his last day is Wednesday.

In those instances it just sounds wrong when you say it.

As an afterthought -- It used to grate on Al when people said EYE-talian, because you don't say EYE-taly.

That's all I remember learning from Al, but it has stuck with me and it grates on me too.
