Anything For A Buck

Recently the Ragister ran a house ad wanting people to "Place your ad in the Memorials section of the Obituaries" as a way to "HONOR OUR HEROES".

Starting at $41.50, the cost of these memorials doesn't include a photo -- that's additional.

They're not even giving people a price break as a regular memorial is $4.15 per line with a 10 line minimum.

Chris thought it was tacky, I do too and the scientific community is united in that fact.

I don't like that newspapers charge for obituaries because it was something once considered part of the daily record and their service to the public interest.

Suck it up Ragister/Gannett, possibly show some patriotism, and honor for free Iowa Heroes once a year on Memorial Day.
