The Liter recently made fun of the media for being purveyors of press releases for their reporting, but in this case WHO TV HD couldn't even read it right for this story.

GUARD BIRTHDAY: The Iowa National Guard celebrates a big birthday
Tuesday is the Iowa National Guard's 375th birthday.

When I heard the story during Tuesday's 5 p.m. newscast, I knew the math didn't add up and the scientific community is united in that fact.

In a press release dated December 6, the Iowa National Guard announced the celebration of the NATIONAL GUARD'S 375th Birthday on December 13.

Reading further in the press release, one finds out that re-enactors will display uniforms representing the 172-year history of the Iowa National Guard.

Only missed it by 203 years!
