Date of Infamy

I've had the privilege of paying my respects at both the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor and Punchbowl, The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

The tour started with a documentary about the attack on December 7, 1941.

I remember Chris, who doesn't have as deep an appreciation for history as I, walked out in tears.

You then board a boat to journey across the harbor to the memorial. Amazingly oil still seeps up from the ship, known as the tears of The Arizona.

We spent quite awhile there reflecting on the names on one end of the structure that straddles the ship, as well as reflecting on those still entombed below.

Punchbowl Crater was beautiful and pristine!

It overlooks Honolulu and you can see Diamond Head in the distance.

War Correspondent Ernie Pyle is interred there.

Just as on September 11, 2001....Let us never forget!

Let us always be vigilant
