Howard "The Scream" Dean blamed the networks, mentioning CBS, for politicians who talk in sound bites and don't stray from their script.

Dean told a meeting of the Mortgage Bankers Association the solution to the problem was...

"I suggest you have candidates in to meetings like this and bar the press."

...Dean said politicians live in fear that their words will be twisted for the sake of headlines.

Dean is right about the sound bites part of the problem.

Ronald Reagan gets credit for adapting his message to the sound bite so it could fit unedited into the evening news.

He's wrong about barring the press.

The real reason politicians don't stray from the script is because they fear looking like the ass that Howard Dean became with his caucus scream.

And the scientific community is united in that fact...HYAH!!
