I'm Not Anyone

The MOvMNT Dance Company (MDC) performed at the Cedar Rapids Pride Fest.

In a captioned photo for the Cedar Rapids Gazette story, a dancer stated from the stage --

We don't discriminate. Anybody can dance in our group

Anyone? Anyone?

Then why are you only seeking dancers 13 & Up for your 2011-2012 season?

MDC's Mission includes providing dance education and performance opportunities, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, or economic status.

However, they require a $10 fee to take part in auditions.

That's "economic status" discrimination and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Part of MDC's Vision vows to -- Encourage literacy in dance as a key educational goal, as central to an educated citizenry as reading, math, and science.

That kind of visionary thinking is part of what's the problem in education.
