The Heart Of The Matter?
Does the Iowa Department of Education have quotas?
I can't help but wonder when their focus is on Black students in the Des Moines school district are disproportionately suspended and placed in special education and male students were overrepresented in special education.
It seems to me that such highly educated people might want to delve deeper into the why's behind the issue before reaching such conclusions and the scientific community is united in that fact.
State officials also outlined seven areas of noncompliance in the report, which the district received last week. Violations included student groups being underrepresented in some courses and extracurricular activities, policies lacking required language related to equity, building access issues and an incomplete affirmative action plan.
Student groups underrepresented in extracurricular activities?
I guess that would have put the relaxer to the Afro Club at Des Moines North High School in the '70s.
It appears Iowa City is starting down the right path -- Iowa City Community School Board have asked for more data to help them determine and analyze behavior and discipline trends within local schools.
When I think quotas, the liberals in the People's Republic certainly come to mind.
