School Is In

The Ragister, and to a lesser extent The Liter, were schooled by the Iowa Board of Regents regarding the hiring of Iowa State University's new President.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Our post (Money Talks) was based on Jens Manuel Krogstad's (OUCH!) report (ISU president search: Newly hired university presidents often get salary bump)

The new ISU President will be paid $440,000 a year, which is $248 less than what the outgoing President's salary was raised to last month.

A bit troubling is the $225,000 in deferred compensation if the new guy stays for three years.

The ease at which some spend other peoples money is worrisome and part of the reason we have some of the deficit problems we do.
