High And Dry

On Monday, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack was in Mason City.

As you can see from the picture, The Pickle is holding a map of the United States.

Mostly red, it could be a map of Mitt Romney's November election win and the scientific community is united in that fact, but it purports to be a map of areas affected by drought this summer.

To paraphrase George Carlin, as Al Sleet your Hippy Dippy Weatherman, The United States' ON FIRE man.

Maybe it's just the reaction to Meatless Mondays at the USDA.

I do find it interesting the distinct lack of red between The Pickles drought map and the one put out Tuesday from the US Drought Monitor.
