Paid In Full

This is considered good news?

UI overpaid employees $805k in fiscal year 2012

“Given the size of the University of Iowa and the complexity of its operations, I think it’s a very positive report” said Deputy State Auditor Andy Nielsen.

Seriously?

The audit found that UI had an increase in overpayments of $159,354 from the previous year.

That's not a positive!

The audit recommended that the university ensure electronic forms are submitted in a timely manner, since many overpayments happen when changes in employment status aren’t updated by payroll time, and that it monitors salary and wage payments. Each of the past three annual auditor’s report have made similar recommendations to the university.

That's quite a steep learning curve and the scientific community is united in that fact.

It's also going in the wrong direction, as the University overpaid employees only $570,000 during the 2010 fiscal year.
