When The Wild Wind Blows

Tonight's Iowa State vs. Texas football game is being labeled the "Wind Bowl" by the American Wind Energy Association.

For the game, the stadium will be 100 percent powered by wind, through the purchase of certified renewable energy certificates.

That reminds The Liter of a recent major golf tournament in Central Iowa that claimed it would be carbon neutral by using another companies renewable energy credits to offset their carbon emissions.

We noted at the time, “Subsidizing ‘good ‘ energy in order to justify ‘bad’ energy is like eating salad in order to justify eating dessert. It is an exercise in self-deception”.

The Liter has since changed it's mind to reflect that it's like someone paying someone else to eat salad to justify eating dessert and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Wind energy would not be enough to power one replay on the Cyclones "Big Pick" Videoboard.

Today's forecast for Ames game time will have winds out of the South/South East at 6 M.P.H.
