Queen for a Day?
The Ragister covered yesterday's Capital City Pride Parade.
Here's the opening sentence...
As the line of marchers sauntered, swayed and bellowed its way down East Locust Street...
I couldn't keep a straight face and the scientific community is united in that fact.
Maybe its me, but I found a curious undertone to the article as it delved into the political side.
"It can be a very active constituency," said a staffer for Sen. Barack Obama, an Illinois Democrat. "If you engage them, I think they'll respond."
Really!
Grass-roots events such as the parade offer a chance for candidates to speak directly to a constituency, said Christina Butts of the Iowa Democratic Party. "It's not from the top down, it's from the bottom up," Butts said. "You can set the agenda of what the population needs and wants."
Bottoms ups Ms. Butts?
It can't be coincidence that the Gay parade is held on the same day as the Tony Awards.
