Here's some good Thomas Sowell Random thoughts on the passing scene...

A reader suggests that members of Congress should wear uniforms, like NASCAR drivers, so that we will know who their corporate sponsors are. Many of those in Congress should also wear logos representing the teachers' unions, environmentalist extremists and other special interests.

People who are impressed by how many of Barack Obama's advisors have Ivy League degrees seem not to remember how many people with Ivy League degrees mismanaged the Vietnam war and how many people with Ivy League degrees mismanaged economic policy during the Great Depression of the 1930s.

The fact that sales at Starbucks are going down, while sales at McDonald's are going up, shows that people are adjusting to economic adversity by cutting back their spending. Only in Congress do people adjust to economic adversity and growing deficits by spending more money.

It is fascinating to see that politicians whose interventions in mortgage lending have created a disaster in financial institutions are now moving on to intervene in the automobile industry.

Wal-Mart has done more for poor people than any ten liberals, at least nine of whom are almost guaranteed to hate Wal-Mart.

Ronald Reagan had a vision of America. Barack Obama has a vision of Barack Obama.

As American incomes have risen over the years, liberals have kept changing the definition of "poverty." Otherwise, the dwindling numbers of people who could be called "poor" would take away the liberals' main claim to influence and power.

I thought they were good and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Waste

Thomas Sowell does not not specifically name the OWS-errs in his recent Random thoughts on the passing scene, but you get the drift.

When an organization has more of its decisions made by committees, that gives more influence to those who have more time available to attend committee meetings and to drag out each meeting longer.

In other words, it reduces the influence of those who have work to do, and are doing it, while making those who are less productive more influential.

Case in point, the Occupy-errs gathered at their, $1,500 for the week, rented headquarters for four hours (5 p.m to 9 p.m.) and still have to meet back at the East Village office at 10 a.m. Wednesday for protest details.

$1,500 for a rented headquarters?

I certainly hope the the city of Des Moines has upped the $25 per week ante on these idiots for curtailing normal activity at Itchycoo Park.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

That kind of money would feed and care for 531 hungry, homeless and hurting people at Hope Ministries.

Lt. Kent Knopf of the Urbandale Police Department is exactly on point, regarding these mental midgets, when he said --

“It’s a waste of everybody’s energy for what they are trying to accomplish. They think they’re doing something. We’ll see if it makes a difference or not, but it hasn’t yet."

Do Facts Matter?

The title of an excellent Thomas Sowell column...

the country does not deserve to be put in the hands of a glib and cocky know-it-all, who has accomplished absolutely nothing beyond the advancement of his own career with rhetoric, and who has for years allied himself with a succession of people who have openly expressed their hatred of America.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 20--A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of Congress that no funds should be cut off or reduced for American Troops in the field which would result in undermining their safety or their ability to complete their assigned mission.

This passed 82 to 16.

In a complete surprise Dummycrats supported this and CommieTommie Harkin supported the latter two.

Surprised because this is what CommieTommie had to say, in just the last two months, about Iraq.

3/15... "misbegotten, misguided war"

2/17..."a tragic quagmire"

He utilized the same "quagmire" statement on 2/5, it's a theme he's used since shortly after the invasion.

That and Iraq is another Viet Nam.

Thomas Sowell shows that these statements aren't really showing support for the troops...

Talk about "supporting the troops" or "honoring the dead" is part of the general corruption of language for political purposes.

... After generations of dumbed-down education in our schools, perhaps it is inevitable that there would be large numbers of people who have no way of separating rhetoric from reality.

The reality is that many of those in the media and in politics who are constantly talking about "supporting our troops" or "honoring our troops" have for years been in the forefront of those criticizing or undermining the military, long before the Iraq war.

During the early stages of that war, men fighting for their lives were criticized for not protecting the contents of an Iraqi museum.

Unsubstantiated charges against American military personnel create instant front-page news stories in the New York Times. But innumerable things that our troops have done that would make us proud are not likely to be reported at all.

... Perhaps the most irresponsible act of all has been Congress's promotion of a non-binding resolution against the recent increase in American troop strength in Iraq.

People's opinions can differ on troop deployment, even if -- like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- they have never deployed troops in their lives and have no military experience whatsoever.

But if anyone in Congress is serious about stopping the war, they can simply cut off the money -- and take responsibility for the consequences that follow.

Instead, they want to have it both ways, passing a non-binding resolution whose only effect is to embolden our enemies and undermine the morale of our troops that they keep saying they are "supporting."

Welcome To My Nightmare?

In a speech that lasted three minutes and utilized two heavy-duty teleprompters, President Obama introduced Alan Krueger as the head of the White House Council of Economic Advisers.

He might as well have put Freddy Krueger in the position, because I don't think he could hack up the economy anymore than Obama and crew have already done.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Krueger, Alan, is from Princeton University.

Just like his predecessor Austan Goolsbee, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and other economic advisers such as Larry Summers and Christina Romer, Krueger is someone else from the Ivy League.

Bigger Hole To Fill?

That's what will happen if CommieTommie Harkin gets his way with Stimulus lite.

Harkin warns of depression, calls for bigger jobs package

CommieTommie tells the President to “Go bigger” on his $447 billion jobs plan.

At a cost of $230,000 to create each new job, it's too big already CommieTommie and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Obama, as of Friday, still hadn't even formally submitted the bill to Congress (according to Chris Cillizza).

You can't pass NOW what you don't have, that was supposed to have been done on Monday.

Per the President, AJA, will add as many as 1.9 million jobs, and bring the unemployment rate down by a full percentage point.

That's depressing.

Even more depressing, since the Great Depression, recessions in America have lasted ten months on average, with the longest lasting 16 months. The recession America is currently in has stretched over 45 months.
