Sex for the motherland: Russian youths encouraged to procreate at camp

...Obediently, couples move to a special section of dormitory tents arranged in a heart-shape and called the Love Oasis, where they can start procreating for the motherland.

With its relentlessly upbeat tone, bizarre ideas and tight control, it sounds like a weird indoctrination session for a phoney religious cult.

But this organisation - known as "Nashi", meaning "Ours" - is youth movement run by Vladimir Putin's Kremlin that has become a central part of Russian political life.

Nashi's annual camp, 200 miles outside Moscow, is attended by 10,000 uniformed youngsters and involves two weeks of lectures and physical fitness.

Attendance is monitored via compulsory electronic badges and anyone who misses three events is expelled. So are drinkers; alcohol is banned. But sex is encouraged, and condoms are nowhere on sale.

That darn Pootin!

Speaking of sex, comes this...

No sex, please, you're a carnivore.

A new phenomenon in New Zealand is taking the idea of you are what you eat to the extreme.

Vegansexuals are people who do not eat any meat or animal products, and who choose not to be sexually intimate with non-vegan partners whose bodies, they say, are made up of dead animals.

So that's what they mean by the other white meat.

Baby I got sick this morning
A sea was storming inside of me
Baby I think I'm capsizing
The waves are rising and rising
And when I get that feeling
I want Sexual Healing

Meltdown?

Thanks to the Best Of The Web Today for this...

"That's enough. No, you stop. You've talked enough. Are you going to give me a chance to respond or are you just going to give a speech? Why don't you sit down and let me respond."--John Edwards to an unidentified New Hampshire voter, July 29, 2007

Sounds eerily familiar to another Dummycrat nut job...

"You sit down! You had your say, and now I'm going to have my say."--Howard Dean to Iowa voter Dale Ungerer, Jan. 11, 2004

You might say it's the pits.

Dr. Jekyll or Ms. Hyde

Thanks to The New York Times, you can decide with the help of Hellary's own writings.

Since Xmas vacation, I’ve gone through three and a half metamorphoses and am beginning to feel as though there is a smorgasbord of personalities spread before me. So far, I’ve used alienated academic, involved pseudo-hippie, educational and social reformer and one-half of withdrawn simplicity.”

“Can you be a misanthrope and still love or enjoy some individuals? How about a compassionate misanthrope?”

Misanthrope: a person who hates or distrusts humankind.

Interestingly Mr. Edward Hyde was described as misanthropic.

God, I feel so divorced from Park Ridge, parents, home, the entire unreality of middle class America, this all sounds so predictable, but it’s true.

She also opines on the boys she's met by issuing a blanket condemnation.

In conclusion you'll find...Hillary Rodham, acknowledged agnostic intellectual liberal, emotional conservative.”

Bill and the scientific community are united in that fact.

Stop making sense

Bill Richardson panders to be the Dummycrat nominee for President, telling the Service Employees International Union that he would pick a union member as his labor secretary.

Richardson further sucks up to a core Dummycrat constituency by saying he'd select a teacher for education secretary.

Richardson went on to say... "I would announce my Cabinet before the election. If I'm the nominee, I would tell you who my team would be."

Later he said his pre-election Cabinet picks wouldn't be final.

"The position would not be offered. There's a recognition that you eventually have to vet. But I would cite these are the people that I would name. We can't get bogged down by technicality. My vetting would be sooner."

There's still a chance that Richardson would round out his cabinet with the Village People (the army guy as secretary of defense, the biker guy at transportation).

Richardson (above) would appeal to conservatives by downsizing government, combining the cowboy and cop in his cabinet.

That's a Macho Man and the scientific community is united in that fact.

You can tell a macho, he has a funky walk
his western shirts and leather, always look so boss

Hey! Hey! Hey, hey, hey!
Macho, macho man...

Heartless

Heartless-heartless! he thinks its so cool to be cold

Came across a blog called Iowa Guy 2.0

On Friday he penned this...

Vice President and Hell's Overlord Dick Cheney will be having surgery tomorrow to replace the battery in the pacemaker surgically implanted in his black heart.

Since I was unaware he even had one, this news comes as a complete surprise to me.

HUH?

He doesn't have a heart, yet you wrote about his black heart?

After Cheney's procedure the blogosphere received the headline

I'm So Sorry to Report This

followed by this flowery sentiment

Vice-President Dick Cheney (R-Pure Evil) had surgery today to replace the battery in his pacemaker. The surgery was completed without complication, irrefutably proving there is no god.

The Supremely Evil One plans to be back at work killing puppies and wreaking havoc upon the world very soon.

I wish the news was better.

By clicking the link, you'll note that Iowa Guy 2.0 describes himself as...

a middle-aged, liberal gay man stuck in the vast conservative wasteland of southwestern Iowa...

Hateful Liberals and Gays?

I didn't think it possible for those who deem themselves tolerant progressives.

Don't Be A Hater and the scientific community is united in that fact!
You gotta have heart
Miles and miles and miles of heart
Oh it's fine to be a genius of course
But keep that old horse before the cart
First you've gotta have heart

You've gotta have heart
All you really need is heart

If you're annoyed
And I'm annoyed
Are we a pair annoyed?

Recently in Iowa Multi-Millionaire trial lawyer John Edwards was fitted for a self hugging white coat when he said...

"This stuff's not an accident. Nobody in this room should think this is an accident. You know, I'm out there speaking up for universal healthcare, ending this war in Iraq, speaking up for the poor. They want to shut me up. That's what this is about. "Let's distract from people who don't have health care coverage. Let's distract from people who can't feed their children.... Let's talk about this silly frivolous nothing stuff so that America won't pay attention."

They will never silence me. Never.

If we don't stand up to these people, if we don't fight em, if we don't beat them, they're going to continue to control this country. They're going to control the media. They're going to control what's being said. They do not want to hear us talking about health care for everybody."

Sounds like he's appealing to the vast left wing majority who always see a 'spriacy and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Remember, Tomorrow Begins Today!

Avoid the Noid!

And now you see I've gone completely out of my mind
And...They're coming to take me away HAHA
They're coming to take me away HOHO HEHE HAHA
To the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats
And they're coming to take me away HAHAAA

Real Life Lesson 101

It's all about the children.

Today kiddies we're going to learn the most basic lesson in life.

It's not what you know, it's who you know.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Des Moines Public School Board member/Dummycrat shill Phil Roeder, who apparantly has difficulty holding down a job, was hired by the school district.

The man who was President of the Board when Superintendent Nancy Sebring was hired, and remains one of her bosses, was in turn hired by Sebring.

Being a Dummycrat, Roeder didn't see anything unethical in it.

Neither does the district.

Sebring called the hiring..."an unusual situation".

Really?

Another member of the Board said..."it's legal, and it's clean."

I'm not so sure that EEO wasn't violated and I believe some questions need to be answered.
Because of his position on the school board, as Sebring's boss, was
Roeder given an unfair advantage over regular applicants thereby
creating a disparate impact on those applicants?

School Board members were a part of the interview process, did Roeder
take part in any interviews as a Board Member?

Did Board Members funnel information to Roeder about those interviews,
either knowingly or unknowingly (because they didn't know he was an
applicant)?

Did others in the interview process, staff or business community
members, funnel information to Roeder about those interviews either
knowingly or unknowingly (because they didn't know he was an applicant)?
Congratulations Des Moines Public Schools for showing the kids that the best of 60 applicants was the middle aged white man who had inside ties.

It was the best of times

The Best:

Yankees win three and are 4 1/2 games out in the wild card.

Watching Roger Clemens pitch.

Seeing Alex Rodriguez hit his 499th career home run.

Or was it his 500th?

Because the Yankees & Baltimore Orioles resume a game today that was suspended on June 28, A-Rod will get to bat and if he homers it statistically would be his 493rd long ball because all stats will be attributed to having occurred June 28. In turn, that would make his Wednesday four-bagger off Kansas City's Gil Meche No. 500.

Seeing an old buddy from radio broadcasting days at "The Hawk" in Cedar Rancid.

Dos Hombres, a Mexican Restaurant in the River Market area. Great Tortilla soup and "Puffy Tacos".

It was the worst of times.

The Worst:

The Royals shut out the Yanks 7 to 0 last night.

Trying to find decent Bar-B-Q.

KC is supposed to be known for this and once again it was weak and the scientific community is united in that fact.

In previous trips I've had Arthur Bryant's and Smokehouse. This time we tried Winslow's and it didn't fail to disappoint.

Inadequate Road Signage to let you know something is coming up, or how to get there.

Because the Yankees are going back, I'm going back in September.

I'm going to Kansas City

Kansas City here I come.

I may even make it down to the corner of Twelfth street and Vine.

It's the annual baseball series between the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals.

This year the Bronx Bombers will make two trips to KC. This is a four game series and then they return for a weekend series in September.

While the Yanks have struggled this season, they've won 8 of their last ten and are only 7 1/2 games behind the despised Red Sox, with 6 games left with their rivals.

The Yankees are 6 1/2 games out in the Wild Card.

Roger Clemens is scheduled to be on the mound tonight and Alex Rodriguez is only two home runs away from 500.

Here's hoping for a Yankees win and the scientific community is united in that fact.

If the Caucuses kicked off today

"I would say I am winning," the New York senator said Friday during a meeting with Des Moines Register reporters and editors when she was asked about her electability.

"If you look at the polls that are being taken - I personally think they're snapshots in time - but as opposed to talking hypothetically if you talk based on the information that we have, I am winning. I am winning. I am beating the Republicans."

In the immortal word of Howard Dean, King of the Iowa Caucuses...HYAH!!
And the scientific community is united in that fact.

I had a dream
But it turned to dust
What I thought was love
That must have been lust...

I'm winning
I'm winning
I'm winning
And I don't intend on losing again

Fiberal's worst nightmare

That hit show "Cheney in Charge".

President Bush will undergo a "routine colonoscopy" at the Camp David retreat on Saturday, temporarily ceding his powers to Vice President Cheney.

Cheney will serve as acting president until such time as Bush, who will be under anesthesia, says he is ready to resume his duties, presidential spokesman Tony Snow told reporters.

First order of business, BOMB IRAN and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Second, round up all the Dummycrats.

You know that's what's running through the loony left's mind, so why disappoint them.

"The president has had no symptoms" of cancer, said Snow, who noted that Bush had been scheduled for such an examination since undergoing a colonoscopy in June 2002.

I know from firsthand experience the drugs work well, even when they don't give you the virgin scope.

Godspeed Mr. President.

They just don't get it

The powers that be think the reason "Project Destiny" failed is because it was a complicated issue.

"People didn't seem to understand it and a lot of times when they don't understand something they vote negatively..."

"I don't think people ever believed we could raise a tax here and lower a tax over there."

"It was a very complex issue and I think a lot of people just didn't understand it. That's the nature of people, if they don't understand it, you can't sell them on it."

Wrong!

In all actuality the voters, this time, were smarter than the people who put such a "complicated" proposal before them and the scientific community is united in that fact.

It was destined to fail for reasons like this...

In all of Polk County, there are more than 12,000 properties receiving abatements valued at more than $810 million.

That's a year and in just one of the three counties where the vote took place!

Destiny was going to generate $750 Million over TEN YEARS!

Now Principal Financial, one of the biggest supporters of Destiny(to the tune of over $100,000), wants...

at least $2.68 million in assistance by way of rebates of sales taxes and a credit for taxes paid on insurance premiums. Principal also is expected to ask for $7.25 million worth of local property tax abatements.

The Principal is promising to add 1,500 jobs in the metro over the next five years.

The kicker is...

Mary O'Keefe, a senior vice president at Principal, said the company has grown its staff count approximately 3 percent a year, or about 240 workers added annually to its Des Moines roster of 7,900. So Thursday's news that it will add 300 employees a year for the next five years is not a huge departure from the norm.

They've been adding the jobs and will continue adding the jobs anyway!

I guess it is all too complicated.

Too taxing for my brain and wallet.

I didn't even have to use GPS

I saw this headline at the online Ragister...

Where in the world is the D.M. Register

I hope this helps them find themselves

or they can check here

If they were smart, their philosophy would be here and the scientific community is united in that fact.

In a New York Minute

Rudy Giuliani is getting some grief here in Iowa for being late to campaign events.

"Giuliani's theme of the day is judicial philosophy. But being on time is not one of the 12 commitments. He's now 15 minutes late."

And

"Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani showed up 50 minutes late for a speech. That's rude. Giuliani and his people offered no explanation for why a speech scheduled for 10:30 a.m. didn't come off until 11:20."

Interestingly, Hellary was an hour late to her event at the State Fairgrounds earlier this month and not a peep.

I'm reminded of two different rallies in the fall of 2004.

There was a Kerry/Edwards rally at the fairgrounds as well.

It was cold and rainy, plus the duo (and their wives) were over an hour late and those Dummycrats just stood there drenched and shivering.

I went to a President Bush event at the fairgrounds also during a cold and rainy day, yet I stayed dry and toasty inside the Varied Industries building.

Obviously Dummycrats aren't smart enough to come in from the rain and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Miss Otis Regrets

Iowas Newz Liter humbly issues this correction.

This is the picture we should have ran with the first story of the day, Subliminal Head line, and the scientific community is united in that fact.

We regret the error.

For Tater

One of Chris' favorite comedians, Ron "Tater Salad" White, is coming to Tama next month.

So here's a story he would appreciate.

Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, who is a vegan, has been hospitalized with "severe" effects of apparent food poisoning.

Your system's kickin' back broth?

You're a manly man.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Something's Fishy

I've come to expect as much from hypocritical, do as I say Dummycrats.

Especially from one who's carbon footprint is as big as his ego (and his butt).

Al Gore and guests at his daughter's recent wedding dined on Chilean sea bass - arguably one of the world's most threatened fish species.

That BASS-tard and the scientific community is united in that fact.

There's no doubt there will be more stories about Gore's hypocrisy...Stay Tuna'd.

Subliminal Head line

Tuesday night during all three newscasts (5, 6 & 10) WHO TV/13 carried the story of a MAN being hit by a DART bus.

Each newscast showed footage that included a close up of a woman's shoe under the bus, but no explanation.

I told Chris, the guy had to be in drag.

Yesterday morning the Ragister's headline on the story was...

Bus hits, drags pedestrian in downtown D.M.

With the headline like that and the video from the previous night, I knew I was right.

However, there was nothing further mentioned in the story.

Today the rest of the story comes OUT and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Witnesses said (the man) was wearing a wig and a dress, and was carrying a purse, so they initially presumed he was a woman.

It's all Ratio

The Ragister's headline today was serious...

Iowa's black-white prisoner ratio is the highest in the nation.

How can that be changed?

Just brainstorming here, but how about...

Commit Less Crime!

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

It should come as no surprise that Ako Abdul-Samad or Wayne Ford, two blacks who represent Des Moines in the Iowa House of Representatives don't agree with my solution.

Abdul-Samad thinks...

the biggest areas to be addressed were the lack of availability of drug treatment through the courts, lack of job opportunities for minority youth, and racist sentencing practices in the state justice system.

Ironic considering his real (?) job, at $70,000 + per year, is running Creative Visions...

The purpose and mission of the agency is to engage youth and young adults in creating a safer community for the purpose of attracting quality jobs and encouraging entrepreneurial activity in the greater Des Moines community.

Ford would like to see existing agencies work together more to help convicts transition out of the corrections system, get jobs and build more productive lives.

Hello Wayne that doesn't address the ratio issue.

Personally, I think the black community needs to clean its own house before it points fingers at others.

I'm weary of the Blame Whitey and Kill Whitey attitudes because that's the easy way out.

Bill Cosby and Juan Williams agree and get labeled as Uncle Tom's.

Cosby chastises the African-American community for its rates of juvenile delinquency, its parenting, the coarse language of its youth. You can do better, he tells his fellow blacks. Don't let yourself be victims, and especially don't let the poorest in the community let themselves be victims.

Williams writes...

With 50 percent of Hispanic children and nearly 70 percent of black children born to single women today these young people too often come from fractured families where there is little time for parenting. Their search for identity and a sense of direction is undermined by a twisted popular culture that focuses on the “bling-bling” of fast money associated with famous basketball players, rap artists, drug dealers and the idea that women are at their best when flaunting their sexuality and having babies…

Last December I blogged on a story about the U.S. having the most prisoners in the world and this view rings true in this story too!

Kent Scheidegger, legal director of the Criminal Justice Legal Foundation in California, said the high prison numbers represented a proper response to the crime problem in the United States. Locking up more criminals has contributed to lower crime rates, he said.

"The hand-wringing over the incarceration rate is missing the mark," he said.

Scheidegger said the high prison population reflected cultural differences, with the United States having far higher crimes rates than European nations or Japan. "We have more crime. More crime gets you more prisoners."

Peachy Keen

For years the Fiberal Dummycrats have been hankering for impeachment.

For months they've been in control of Congress and can make that happen.

In the last few weeks the hue and cry has risen again.

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) said recently...

"...I have always said it should be on the table."

Per The Washington Post, Certifiable Cindy Sheehan (Peace Mom) has threatened Speaker Pa-Loser...

Sheehan said she will run as an independent against the San Francisco Democrat in 2008 if Pelosi does not file articles of impeachment against Bush by July 23.

Nobel Peace Prize winner Betty Williams also called for Bush's impeachment, when she wasn't saying she wants to kill him.

Why Im peach?

Shouldn't we BIG PEACH?

Or GIANT PEACH?

This is America and we do everything BIG here, after all the President is from Texas.

To quote the President..."Bring 'em on".

So, Go BIG or go home!

Nothing but the truth

On "Good Morning America," co-host Diane Sawyer revealed how she was once excused from jury duty.

"The judge said to me, 'Can, you know, can you tell the truth and be fair?' And I said, 'That's what journalists do.' And everybody in the courtroom laughed. It was the most hurtful moment I think I've ever had."

I wonder why.

Does the term "Fake, but accurate" mean anything?

Come on Diane, you used to work with Dan Rather.

Enough said and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Chewing their cud

Do fiberals have an original thought left?

John Edwards & Joe Biden have recycled criticism of President Bush from 2004.

Now 1976 Nobel Peace Prize winner Betty Williams is regurgitating too.

Last July she told a bunch of children at an Earth Dialogues forum...

"Right now, I would love to kill George Bush."

This week she told a Women's Peace Conference in Dallas...

"Right now, I could kill George Bush."

When I was growing up it was considered ironic that Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite, founded a peace prize.

The sad irony now is who receives it and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Jimmy Carter, Kofi Annan, Yasser Arafat.

Peace Out!

Poor Side of Town

Do-doo-doo-wah shoo-be-doo-be
Do-doo-doo-wah shoo-be-doo-be

So welcome back baby
To the poor side of town

When is a poverty tour not a poverty tour?

When it's headed by a multi millionaire trial lawyer.

...publicity about his personal wealth - $400 haircuts, construction of a 28,000-square-foot house, hundreds of thousands of dollars in salary to speak about poverty and advise a hedge fund for the superrich - has opened him to charges of hypocrisy and threatened to undermine his message.

"Let them attack," Edwards said in a letter to supporters, asking for symbolic $8 campaign donations to support his effort.

Edwards poverty tour was supposed to be a break from fund raising and campaigning.

Do you see why there might be charges of hypocrisy?

Some at his campaign rallies do.

Last night in Fort Dodge, Dave Price reports this...

A woman first asked him if he would consider living on the "food stamp diet' a few members of Congress are trying. He told her he hadn't heard about it, but if he could make it work on the Presidential campaign trail, he would think about it. Then she brought up the haircut. She told him her family lives for weeks on what he paid for that one haircut. The comment brought a collective "ohhhh" from the crowd and silence for a bit from Edwards.

That's for a $400 haircut, but his barber---er, hairstylist was paid more.

Joseph Torrenueva has cut the hair of Hollywood celebrities, from Marlon Brando to Bob Barker, so when a friend told him in 2003 that a presidential candidate needed grooming advice, he agreed to help.

...Torrenueva has cut Edwards's hair at least 16 times.

At first, the haircuts were free. But because Torrenueva often had to fly somewhere on the campaign trail to meet his client, he began charging $300 to $500 for each cut, plus the cost of airfare and hotels when he had to travel outside California.

Torrenueva said one haircut during the 2004 presidential race cost $1,250 because he traveled to Atlanta and lost two days of work.

When this first came out Edwards said that he was embarrassed by the cost and that he "didn't know it would be that expensive," suggesting the haircuts were some kind of aberration given by "that guy" his staff had arranged.

16 times is not an aberration.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me 16 times you're a Fiberal Dummycrat.

...the Edwards campaign said this week that Edwards had arranged for the stylist to give him numerous cuts over the past four years. But it said that a personal assistant handled paying for the haircuts and that Edwards didn't realize how much they cost.

Really?

...According to Torrenueva, the last time he cut Edwards's hair was March 23, the day after Elizabeth Edwards announced that her cancer had returned and a month before the cost of the haircuts became public.

Unlike two prior haircuts in January and February, which were paid for by the campaign, Edwards personally paid the $400 for the March cut, the stylist said.

The Edwards campaign said this...

"Breaking news -- John Edwards got some expensive haircuts and probably didn't pay enough attention to the bills. He didn't lie about weapons of mass destruction or spring Scooter Libby; he just got some expensive haircuts."

No, Edwards lied about haircuts!

Pathetic!

There is one thing I can agree with John Edwards on...

"Democrats want to win. This is not an intellectual exercise for us..."

Hard ticket to Hawaii

I may be a bad Iowan for this (and the scientific community is united in that fact).

I've booked a January 2008 vacation in Maui, our 15th straight year there.

It means if the caucuses remain as scheduled that Chris & I won't be attending.

All things considered, I'll be there on my 50th and it is winter in Iowa, I'd rather be in Maui.

50 in the 50th state!

I will be attending the Iowa Straw Poll next month in Ames.

It sounds as if January can't get here soon enough for some folks.

Enough Already!

Even in Iowa -- or maybe especially in Iowa -- American voters are saying it.

Enough with the candidates, the money, the television commercials, the talk of the campaign on the newspapers in the nightly news per the NEW YORK TIMES.

According to newsroom sources, many Iowans tell the
NEW YORK TIMES how all of this is just too much, too soon, and a little overwhelming.

"I'd like a two-week moratorium on this," Scott Roberts said in Clear Lake as he observed what normally is modest if energetic Independence Day parade crammed with observers, reporters and Secret Service agents as first Bill and Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney came through.

Several said they were worried that people would lose interest by the time the campaign actually started.

I've said all along that it was too much too soon.

Actually I'm sitting this caucus out as a protest to the over abundance of political activity.

It'll be a struggle, but I'll be making the sacrifice.

Think of it as civil disobedience.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

2 Eff-en bad

After a harrasing e-mail from the Ragister State 29 is through blogging.

Ironic

A day after the trouncing of Project Destiny, I found this in the Washington Times/Inside the Beltway column...

By the way, today — July 11 — is the first day of 2007 that "Americans can now begin to provide for themselves and their families."

So says Citizens Against Government Waste President Tom Schatz, who observes Cost of Government Day by expressing outrage at the federal, state and local governments' continued abuse of hundreds of billions of tax dollars.

The date each year is when the average American worker has earned enough to pay off his or her share of tax and regulatory burdens imposed by all levels of government, according to Americans for Tax Reform.

Americans now work more than half of the year — 192 days — to pay their share of the cost of government, with 85 of those days a result of federal spending alone.

"Taxpayers should be outraged by the government's refusal to be responsible guardians of their hard-earned money," Mr. Schatz says.

If Destiny had passed it would have gotten a little longer.

And isn't it ironic... don't you think
A little too ironic

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Don't Pay the Ferryman

A penny saved is a big F U to the powers that be and the scientific community is united in that fact.

It won't be long before it's back before the voters.

I saw Indianola Mayor Jerry Kelly, a yes backer, on TV and he refused to call it a defeat.

More like an ass whooping, the Ragister called the defeat "deafening".

If I remember correctly it took three tries for the sales tax increase for schools to pass, in Polk County, and it became successful when they promoted it as for the children.

It galled me that entities that don't pay property taxes contributed to the yes campaign.

Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines, $30,000; Iowa Health System, $25,000.

If they've got money to waste it's time to put it in Des Moines' coffers.

I begin flipping around the tube about 9:15p.m. thinking I might get some sort of results, but there was nothing for a long time.

Eventually I caught WOI/TV5 scrawling results across the screen bottom, but they had it passing by huge margins in Polk County.

They posted results for Carlisle and had it winning 100% and then abruptly the scrawl was removed.

No wonder their ratings suck.

Manifest Destiny

Chris used to work for the Ragister and recently we ran into a lady she knew from there who had retired.

They reminisced and the lady shook her head and said, "It's not the place I started with".

I interjected, "It's not the paper it once was."

For me that means about 10 years before they stopped printing The Big Peach and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Case in point.

The Ragister has been high on the Project Destiny bandwagon and recently had a story about the money raised by those for and against the project.

Reporter Jeff Eckhoff said the supporters had raised $770,000 (mainly from corporations).

Eckhoff continues.

...the proposed tax, which supporters say would generate roughly $750,000 over 10 years--or slightly less than what already has been raised by the Yes to Destiny campaign.

Wrong!

The tax would generate $75 MILLION a year and $750 MILLION over 10 years.

The Ragister issued a correction the next day, but that was more than just an error.

Per the Merriam-Webster online dictionary...

manifeste, from Latin manifestus caught in the act, flagrant, obvious.

The vote is today and I'm hoping the date with Destiny is rejected.

Peace, Love, Dope & Barry

San Francisco is the site of tonight's Major League Baseball's All-Star game.

It seems to be the only place that adores Barry Bonds and the scientific community is united in that fact...

"My thing is that I feel disappointed in some of those fans that were influenced by a third-party judgment and have not given me that opportunity just to know me. People in San Francisco know me."

I got this alleged Barry Bonds rookie card in an e-mail the other day...

I am selling one of my Barry Bonds rookie cards to the highest bidder. I for one, do not believe the steroid stories about Barry and believe he will be in the Hall of Fame someday.

I think it'll be a sad day when he breaks the home run record because of the cloud of suspicion he's helped linger over the game.
