Happy Halloween

Q. Why won’t Obama laugh at himself?
A. Because it would be racist.

Harry Truman said, “The buck stops here!”
Barack Obama says, “Leave the bucks here!”

Q. What do Obama and Osama have in common?
A. They both have friends who bombed the Pentagon.

Q. Why will Jimmy Carter vote for Barack Obama?
A. Because Jimmy doesn't want to be the worst President in history.

Here an interesting fact: If you add John McCain's age and Barack Obama's age together you'll get the number of times Obama usually says "uh" when answering a question.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Friend of the Iowa Farmer?

Welcome Back to Iowa Barry, thanks for the pitchfork to the privates!

Obama, to Time magazine, blamed agriculture as...

"partly responsible for the explosion in our health care costs because they're contributing to type 2 diabetes, stroke and heart disease, obesity, all the things that are driving our huge explosion in health care costs."

He then stated farming...

"actually is contributing more greenhouse gases than our transportation sector."

Sometimes the GAFFE-ted One gives you a glimpse of how he actually feels and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Looks like he's spreading manure and not wealth.

You INGROWN hicks need to put on your SEA HAT and VOTE McCAIN!!!

Now pass the arugula.

Tricks not Treats

More from Mr. Cal, Freedom's Pal and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Notice to All Employees

As of November 5, 2008, when President Obama is officially elected into office, our company will instill a few new policies which are in keeping with his new, inspiring issues of change and fairness:

1. All salespeople will be pooling their sales and bonuses into a common pool that will be divided equally between all of you. This will serve to give those of you who are underachieving a “fair shake.”

2. All low level workers will be pooling their wages, including overtime, into a common pool, dividing it equally amongst yourselves. This will help those who are “too busy for overtime” to reap the rewards from those who have more spare time and can work extra hours.

3. All top management will now be referred to as “the government.” We will not participate in this “pooling” experience because the law doesn't apply to us.

4. The “government” will give eloquent speeches to all employees every week, encouraging it's workers to continue to work hard “for the good of all.”

5. The employees will be thrilled with these new policies because it's “good to spread the wealth.” Those of you who have underachieved will finally get an opportunity; those of you who have worked hard and had success will feel more “patriotic.”

6. The last few people who were hired should clean out their desks. Don't feel bad, though, because President Obama will give you free healthcare, free handouts, free oil for heating your home, free food stamps, and he'll let you stay in your home for as long as you want even if you can't pay your mortgage.

If for any reason you are not happy with the new policies, you may want to rethink your vote on November 4th.

Oh!

My friend Cal sent this cartoon and I felt obliged to include it here on this blog.

It's a light bulb moment and the scientific community is united in that fact.

I'll drink to that

The robocalls for Obama keep coming.

Once again it's the SEIU, Local 199 from Iowa City.

I could only tell that because of Caller Id, as the call came from their hall at (319) 621-8659.

The caller, Kathy Eldridge (?), spoke so fast and it was such poor quality that I actually thought she said she was representing ICIU.

Here's an Obama call that would be a hoot and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Drunk Dialing for Change

Happy Trails...RIP

My wife's nemesis in Warren County government has ridden off to richer rewards.

The Indianola Record and Old Weird Harold reports that County Engineer Steve Akes took a similar job in Union County.

In Akes' words "he'll get paid more to do less".

That sounds like a government employee and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Warren County paid him $83,000 per year and Union County will give him $86,000 yearly with a $2,500 raise a year.

Akes came under fire from county residents for the poor job in caring for rural roads.

1,300 residents signed a petition, and gave it to the Board of Supervisors, asking that Akes' contract not be renewed.

For Chris and I it was his attitude, as you can see by his quote, that rubbed us the wrong way.

Here's and e-mail she sent him on February 20th of this year...

Good morning.
Would it be possible to get some sand or something on (road names removed) in the next day or so?
These roads are becoming very treacherous.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Mr. Personality responded with...

We can not sand unpaved roads because there are 637 miles of them and we have used up our supply of sand on the paved system. We are in the process of blading and scarifying the unpaved roads but until we get some temparatures above 20 degrees, it will probably be a losing battle.
Steve Akes, PE
Warren County Engineer

Temparatures?

We've lived here for over twelve years and they sand each and every year.

It appears his attitude was a problem pattern with Mr. Akes.

Akes told The Old Weird Harold...

"They said I was being rude to people, but I never got them to say who. Most of the calls I got this spring were people who were very rude to begin with".

Akes is a well compensated employee of the taxpayer, deal with it.

Can't hear you now

Joe Biden called me yesterday to tell me to watch Barack's Big Show.

I asked Joe, pictured looking like a present day Forrest Gump in this Time pic and the scientific community is united in that fact, where he's been hiding and if he's with Dick Cheney.

It was at that moment that the call started becoming garbled and broke up, probably his handlers getting him back on the leash & muzzle.

Since Joe cared so much to call, I decide to tune in.

I was unimpressed and uninspired, I thought it was convoluted and lacked flow.

Two infomercial stars(?) agree...

TV'S TOP AD STARS PAN BAM

I remember in 1980 Ronald Reagan went on TV in times just as bad, if not worse under Jimmy Carter, and made me feel America's best days were still ahead.

Three things about his message made me laugh.

His 90 day freeze on housing foreclosures was going to grow the economy. I guess since people won't be making house payments, they can spend their dollars elsewhere.

He mentioned he's reminded daily that he's not perfect, just as a picture of him with his wife came on screen.

During the Florida live segment, one person behind him kept holding the CHANGE sign upside down (a sign of distress?).

The media were skeptical of the meat(?) of his message.

From the AP...

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was less than upfront in his half-hour commercial Wednesday night about the costs of his programs and the crushing budget pressures he would face in office.

CBS caught my eye with this...

Without question, the Barack Obama infomercial served as a very slick and powerful recitation of the biggest promises he's made as a presidential candidate. But the very bigness of his ideas is the problem: he seems blind to the concept his numbers don't add up.

The D Moines Register

In a less than stunning development the Ragister endorses the Dummycrat woman (Becky Greenwald) for CONgress running against a long term incumbent (Tom Latham), but supports a first term Dummycrat CONgressman (Dave Loebsack) against a Republican woman (Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks).

This is what they said about the woman they didn't support...

Like most campaign newcomers, including Loebsack two years ago, her knowledge of many issues is shallow. But her background indicates she'd come up to speed quickly.

This is what they said about the woman they did...

When asked about a number of subjects, she in essence described the positions of Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama: health care (expand access to coverage and let consumers buy into government insurance plans), Social Security (tax income beyond current levels to shore up the system's finances), and withdrawal of troops from Iraq (do so as quickly as safely possible).

Those are good approaches to those issues, and they generally differ from Latham's, but she showed little evidence of having considered alternative approaches, an exception being her support for more domestic oil drilling.

Greenwald also didn't seem to understand the complexities of the looming financial shortfall in Medicare, perhaps the biggest fiscal issue facing the country.

It's expected that a challenger will have less knowledge about many issues than a longtime incumbent. But Greenwald failed to show she had boned up significantly on the issues since the editorial board first met with her in May before the primary.

They chose the dope (Greenwald) over hope (Miller-Meeks) and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Bracket Creep?

It seems Obama's tax cut promise, like his lead (?), is shrinking.

At first people making less than $250,000 were promised a tax cut.

Obama's latest infomercial states he will cut taxes on households earning less than $200,000 a year.

Now Joe Blabbermouth said this about a tax cut...

"It should go to middle-class people, people who make $150,000 a year."

Bracket creep?

More like just plain creeps and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Coming to America

Like Father, Like Son

As a Nairobi bureaucrat, Barack Hussein Obama Sr. advised the pro-Western Kenyan government there to "redistribute" income through higher taxes. He also demonized corporations and called for massive government "investment" in social programs.

The Dreams From His Father will equate to a nightmare for America and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Life in ObamaNation

"It's not that I want to punish your success".

"I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they have a chance for success too."

"I think that when you spread the wealth around its good for everybody."

Here's more on Obama junior's redistribution.

Hard look or hardly looking?

CBS NEWS recently aired a report about voter fraud, in 17 states, and stated it was "more rhetoric than reality".

This, they said came after they "conducted a detailed survey" and "made dozens of calls" in what CBS characterized as a "hard look".

One of the states that supposedly received a "hard look" was Ohio.

This headline caught my eye over the weekend...

BAM STAFFERS PULL THEIR BOGUS OHIO BALLOTS

Thirteen campaign workers for Barack Obama yesterday yanked their voter registrations and ballots in Ohio after being warned by a prosecutor that temporary residents can't vote in the battleground state.

That wasn't hard to find and the scientific community is united in that fact.

CBS NEWS Chief Investigative Correspondent Armen Keteyian reported their findings.

Keteyian's last job was as a football sideline reporter!

That's not as bad as their Chief Foreign-Affairs Correspondent, Lara Logan, who literally took the title to heart (and other body parts).

Logan is also under investigation for swiping souvenirs from the wreckage of bombed-out Baghdad.

Campaign for changing my telephone number

I was left another partial message from the Iowa Dummycrats.

This robo-caller said he was "tired of all the phone calls from John McCain attacking Barack Obama".

Damn, I'm tired of all the calls from Barack Obama and his Dummycrat supporters attacking John McCain and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Especially from people who aren't smart enough to check that Chris & I voted nearly a month ago (In Absentia)!

I'm willing to bite the bullet, if it means one less voter they'll reach.

Back to the robo-call, it was from someone claiming to be a police officer and he stated how the National Association of Police Organizations had endorsed Obama.

I'm not impressed that a union endorses a Dummycrat, these same folks backed John "Faux" Kerry in 2004.

It was interesting to get this call on the weekend of another murder in Obamatown--Chicago, the Murder Capitol of America!

That's the HOPE, ACTION, CHANGE we need in America?

Just Being Observational

We drove through Story, Hamilton and Hardin counties on our Waterloo road trip.

I noted several large Tom Latham signs along the Interstate and Highway, but not one for Becky Greenwald.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

For what it's worth, there were also several McCain*Palin signs, but no Obama signs.

Game On

Not having followed the Tampa Bay Rays all season, I was a bit confused with their fuzzy new math of 9=8.

It's been explained to me that their manager Jerry Crawford---err Joe Maddon meant that 9 players playing hard for 9 innings would garner one of the eight playoff spots.

Except, the Rays could only qualify for one of four American League playoff spots and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The other four allocated playoff spots were for National League teams only.

Therefore 9 really equals 4!

That's the kind of thinking that got my high school football coach pissed at me.

Coach had given us the "there is no I in team" speech and I had to let him know there is a "ME".

I look for the Rays to take Game 3 tonight.

Just for Fun

It's a road trip for Chris and I, as we head to see her Grandmother (95) in Waterloo.

Here's two of my favorite Waterloo tunes and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Wasted Days and Wasted Nights

Wasted money too as the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 199 bark up the wrong telephone tree by calling me.

The calls came from (319) 338-7994 & (319) 621-8659.

The first time they called they left no message, the second call was a recording from Shirley Morris (?) who said she's a nurse in Cedar Rapids and in a stunning development she's for Obama's health care plan.

Naturally, she had to slam John McCain too, I'm sure she meant it in a positive way and the scientific community is united in that fact.

If the call had COME from Local 790 it would have had me HOOKED!

The SEIU should clean up its own house before they focus on the White House.

SCARY Halloween

My friend Cal sent the cartoon and it frightened the unborn children in my girded loins.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Robo Calling

My answering machine recorded only part of an Obama Robo Call , from 877-420-8868.

I don't know if it was the same doofus as on the highlighted link, but the script that was recorded was similar (their computer started playing the call while our caller greeting was running, so the first part wasn't captured).

The Obama caller stated that "like you, I've been getting sleazy phone calls & mail from John McCain and his supporters viciously and falsely attacking Barack Obama."

You are NOT like me, because the only sleazy phone calls I've been getting have come from Barack Obama and his supporters and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Maybe I'm not getting contacted by McCain's camp because they've checked and found that I've already voted and therefore aren't wasting their resources.

The doofus continued with how "he used to support John McCain because he honorably served our Country."

In my call he accused McCain of continuing Bush's "vicious policies"?

The caller also stated that he had changed his mind and was voting for Obama.

Unlike the lemmings that dominate the Dummycrata, I was raised to think for myself and won't follw this fool as he plunges over the cliff to perish in the sea.

The call concluded with the disclaimer that it was from Campaign for Change, a project of the Iowa Democratic Party.

As you can see the project is not exclusive to the Iowa Dummycrat Party, as they spread the wealth with Hoosier Dummycrats.

The disclaimer also said it was part of Obama for America, the Obama seal folks!

Just a Tad

To Chris and I, Phillies Game One winning pitcher Cole Hamels has a resemblance to actor Eddie Cahill (Friends).

As for the Rays, I think they could've used more cowbell.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Reverse Psychology

In a lame attempt to influence the Presidential election...

Al-Qaida-linked Web site backs McCain as president

...if al-Qaida wants to exhaust the United States militarily and economically, "impetuous" Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain is the better choice because he is more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The last thing they want is a President McCain, they're tired of getting their ass kicked here and here.

They want America to go home, they need that time to reorganize and bring the terror home to us.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

They're even losing in cyberspace.

She shoots, She scores

Caribou Barbie on the campaign trail talking about the Obama/Biden campaign...

"But, I guess the looming crisis that most worries the Obama campaign right now is Joe Biden’s next speaking engagement."

Ouch, right in the girded loins and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Gird Your Loins

In the single most important issue facing the future of America, even his own running mate knows this country is screwed with a President Obama...

"Mark my words, it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama..."

"Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

"And he's gonna need help...Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

"There are gonna be a lot of you who want to go, 'Whoa, wait a minute, yo, whoa, whoa, I don't know about that decision'."

Gird Your Loins because Obama can't be truss-ted to be right and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Obama was wrong on the surge in Iraq.

Obama originally scolded both countries when Russia invaded Georgia, then he wanted to take it to the U.N.

While the nitwits worry that Sarah Palin isn't qualified to be number two, they're ready to piss all over this country by making this fool number one.

God help us!

I'm a Believer

From worst to the World Series, the Tampa Bay Rays have made me a believer by driving a stake into the heart of Red Sox Nation.

When I made my Series predictions at the beginning of the playoffs, I had not seen the Rays play.

It's a gross understatement to say these kids are good and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The only thing that can mess with years of success, for this team, is success.

I was correct in the Philadelphia Phillies representing the National League.

I felt the winner would come out of the American League, but wrongly said it would be Anaheim over Boston.

I'm still going to stay with the American League to win it all.

Higher Education?

From the Union of Socialist Story County and the campus of Iowa State University, the Ragister prints a letter by Leslie R. Bloom and Warren J. Blumenfeld defending Bill Ayers.

In their letter these two protest "distortions and insinuations" of slander against "a man who has never been convicted of a crime".

Hell, neither was Jack The Ripper, but that's little comfort to the eleven women who were murdered and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Ayers himself admits his own guilt with statement like...

"I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough."

And in the posted picture of him stomping the American Flag, Ayers recalls his adventurous violence...

"Guilty as sin, free as a bird, it's a great country."

Ayers was a founder of a leftist, domestic terrorist group known as the Weathermen that declared war against the government.

The myth is that nobody was ever hurt in their bombings (which included the Pentagon, U.S. Capitol and other government buildings), but three of the group were killed when a bomb they were building, to detonate at an officer's dance at Fort Dix, blew up on them.

Harvey Klehr, the Andrew W. Mellon professor of politics and history at Emory University in Atlanta, said in 2003, "The only reason they were not guilty of mass murder is mere incompetence. I don't know what sort of defense that is."

Also, a San Francisco police sergeant was killed and another officer was severely wounded by a bomb believed to be from the Weathermen.

Ayers certainly sounds like the man of "integrity and kindness" the ASSistant Professor and ASSociate Professor profess him to be.

At their blog, (Sedition), they liken Ayers to a respectable citizen and believe the mention of his past is a baseless tactic grounded in fear.

I fear those educated by these idiots.

I'm not surprised

The Obama campaign scratched the singing of the National Anthem at a rally in New Hampshire.

They went to all the trouble of contacting a high school senior for the honors, but was cut to make room for another speaker.

Sandra Abrevaya, communications director for the Obama campaign's Manchester office, confirmed the choice had simply been a last-minute scratch from the rally's program, which included the Pledge of
Allegiance.

Now that's the major news story and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Per Barry, his grandfather has taught him to say the Pledge since he was one.

Wait, two.

Err, three!

Flush this Fool

I've said it to Chris for a few years and stated it publicly last fall (In who's mind?), it is beyond time to fire Kirk Ferentz and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The man should have never been hired, his Head Coaching record was 12-21 at MAINE.

Profiles in Idiocy

The Ragister gives a short profile of the two Iowans(?), CommieTommie Harkin and Christopher Reed, running for U.S. Senate.

In an understatement of the young century they state...

In many ways, Harkin and Reed are opposites.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

I found this very telling about CommieTommie...

He portrays himself as a Midwestern progressive in the mold of Hubert Humphrey.

As an example, Harkin, who objected to the Wall Street bailout measure proposed by the White House, voted for a revised package after changes were added such as treating mental and physical illness the same in federal health care law.

That's progress for you!

How did adding that pork, section 8 as I prefer, help the economic crisis in this country?

You can see why self named Progressives need the help.

We may need to revisit removing this Iowa Constitution amendment from the ballot.

JO BS

Here's a video of Joe Biden in Ohio with the Obama/Biden Change you can COUNT on and the scientific community is united in that fact...

"As Barack says a three letter word jobs...J-O-B-S"!

Kill The Wabbit

Obama mentioned in last night's debate, when the talk was about campaign's taking the high road...

"...hearing at some of the rallies that your running mate was holding, in which all the Republican reports indicated were shouting, when my name came up, things like "terrorist" and "kill him."

It turns out "KILL HIM" never happened...

The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled “kill him” when presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s name was mentioned during Tuesday’s Sarah Palin rally are unfounded.

The Scranton Times-Tribune first reported the alleged incident on its Web site Tuesday and then again in its print edition Wednesday.

Sounds like they're in the tank for the Scranton born Joe Biden.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Take three

I thought the third debate started out boring, but got interesting later.

I'm amused that when pressed by Bob Schieffer, Obama's big budget cut was a $15 Billion dollar subsidy.

In all three debates Obama scoffed at the savings McCain pushed on earmarks because "it's not going to solve the problem".

Per Obama, earmark savings amount to $18 Billion.

McCain finally had an excellent comeback to Obama comparing him to President Bush...

"I am not President Bush. If you wanted to run against President Bush, you should have run four years ago. I'm going to give a new direction to this economy in this country".

McCain scored when he painted Obama as the big spender that he is...

"Sen. Obama talks about the budgets I voted for. He voted for the last two budgets that had that $24 billion more in spending than the budget that the Bush administration proposed.
He voted for the energy bill that was full of goodies for the oil companies that I opposed. So the fact is, let's look at our records, Sen. Obama. Let's look at it as graded by the National Taxpayers Union and the Citizens Against Government Waste and the other watchdog organizations".
Obama had a couple of gaffes when he tried to tie McCain, again, to Bush policies...

"But when it comes to economic policies, essentially what you're proposing is eight more years of the same thing. And it hasn't worked".

Presidential terms are four years, with a maximum of eight.

It's not the first time Obama, a Constitutional Scholar?, made a mistake in front of Bob Schieffer regarding the length of a Presidential term and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Obama also erred when he said...

"And 100 percent, John, of your ads -- 100 percent of them have been negative".

Obama was not completely truthful about his association with ACORN...

"The only involvement I've had with ACORN was I represented them alongside the U.S. Justice Department in making Illinois implement a motor voter law..."

Obama served as general counsel for ACORN in Illinois, channeled millions to the organization from the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (whose funds he distributed), and has lately spent $800,000 of his campaign money to subsidize the group's activities.

Digging deeper you'll find that during Obama's organizing years he taught future leaders identified by ACORN and was a part of their Project Vote.

ACORN and his connections may be Obama's downfall, as the voter fraud ACORN has perpatrated has reached 11 states so far.

Back to the debate.

Some may consider it a gaffe, but I thought John McCain was right on when he referred to Obama as "Senator Government".

Obama scared the hell out of me when he proposed his less than strict judicial litmus test...

"the most important thing in any judge is their capacity to provide fairness and justice to the American people".

Obama as a lawyer knows the law isn't always fair, it's not a judges role to make it so.

As a Senator, Obama should realize the role of the legislative branch of our government is to write laws.

I was less than moved by Obama's argument regarding equal pay for equal work, namely because Obama and Biden pay the women on their Senate staff's less than John McCain pays his.

Per Scripps-Howard columnist Deroy Murdock...

Obama’s 28 male staffers divided among themselves total payroll expenditures of $1,523,120. Thus, Obama’s average male employee earned $54,397. Obama’s 30 female employees split $1,354,580 among themselves, or $45,152, on average … on average, Obama’s female staffers earn just 83 cents for every dollar his male staffers make …

As for Biden, his 14 male staffers split a total payroll outlay of $1,077,128.40. So, Biden’s average male employee earned $76,937.74 per annum.

Biden’s 27 female employees divided $1,517,874.47, or $56,217.57, on average.

Among Biden’s top five highest-paid aides, one was a woman. Among the top 20, 11 were women.

All told, for every dollar that Biden paid his average male staffer, his female equivalent made only 73 cents.

McCain’s payment patterns are the stuff of feminist dreams. McCain’s 17 male staffers split $916,914, thus averaging $53,936. His 25 female employees divided $1,396,958 and averaged $55,878. On average, according to these data, women in McCain’s office make $1.04 for every dollar a man makes.

The Liter continues with the debate...

I loved how McCain accurately portrayed the left's "Pro Abortion Movement", because that's what pro choice really is.

Don't believe Obama on his Born-Alive Infants Protection Act stance or Partial Birth Abortion, his own campaign has had to correct him on that.

Watch out when Obama talks about preventing "unintended pregnancies by providing appropriate education to our youth".

Last month Byron York discovered what an Illinois sex-education bill, supported by Obama, was really about.

When Schieffer stated the U.S. spends more per capita than any other country on education. Yet, by every international measurement, in math and science competence, from kindergarten through the 12th grade, we trail most of the countries of the world.

Obama's response was to throw more money at the education system.

McCain was correct when he stated...

"throwing money at the problem is not the answer. You will find that some of the worst school systems in America get the most money per student".

McCain has used this solution several times...

we take good teachers and we reward them and promote them and we find bad teachers another line of work.

Obama on bad teachers...

And we also agree on the need for making sure that if we have bad teachers that they are swiftly -- after given an opportunity to prove themselves, if they can't hack it, then we need to move on...

If you know they're bad teachers they've already proven they cant hack it.

McCain ended with which candidate you can trust...

to be careful stewards of your tax dollar, to make sure America is safe and secure and prosperous, to make sure we reform the institutions of government.
That's why I've asked you not only to examine my record, but my proposals for the future of this country.
I've spent my entire life in the service of this nation and putting my country first. As a long line of McCains that have served our country for a long time in war and in peace, it's been the great honor of my life, and I've been proud to serve.
And I hope you'll give me an opportunity to serve again. I'd be honored and humbled.

Middle Class Tax Cut?

This is less than a ringing endorsement...

Obama’s Tax Cut is Actually a Spending Increase, Says Non-Partisan Group

The
Tax Policy Center is hardly Non-Partisan and the scientific community is united in that fact.

It is a joint project of the liberal Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, established by LBJ.

The Tax Policy Center says Obama would
increase government spending by an average of $64.8 billion a year and effectively raise income tax rates for many Americans.

The problem with Obama’s characterization that his proposals are tax cuts is that refundable credits are calculated as outlays, or direct spending, not as reductions in tax rates, according to the Center. This means that, in budgetary terms, some of Obama’s tax cuts are actually spending increases
.

Most of the benefits of Obama’s plan would go to the bottom 40 percent of wage earners, a group that, according to the Congressional Budget Office and the Tax Policy Center, pays zero percent of the nation’s income taxes.

In fact, Obama’s refunds get smaller as tax burdens get larger, which means that while it is true that 95 percent of workers will receive some form of tax refund from Obama, they will not all receive a full refund...

When compared with current law, people earning $20,000-$50,000 a year will see their effective tax rates -- the amount of money the taxpayer actually ends up paying the government -- increase on average under Obama’s plan, according to Tax Policy Center figures.

Most households making $30,000-$75,000 will not see a reduction in their taxes under Obama’s plan relative to current law, according to the Center. In fact, the only strata that will see a majority of its effective tax burden reduced under Obama are those making less than $30,000 per year and those making $75,000-$200,000 per year.

The median household income in Iowa...$48,075.

Tommie Two Faced

In a meeting with the editorial board of the Sioux City Journal, CommieTommie Harkin did a bit of revisionist history.

Harkin complained of Republicans having filibustered legislation 90 times.

It's interesting what Dummycrats call Republican filibusters.

37 Successful Votes To Invoke Cloture. Democrats count any vote on a cloture motion as a “Republican filibuster,” including 37 votes where cloture was actually invoked.

Democrat Filibusters. Democrats count “filibusters” by Democrats of FISA, Judge Southwick, and the McConnell-Stevens troop funding amendment as “Republican filibusters.”

5 Unanimously Approved Cloture Votes. Democrats count votes where Democrats and Republicans vote unanimously in favor as “Republican filibusters.”

One Dummycrat even includes bills passed as filibusters!

Here's what CommieTommie has said about the filibuster when Republicans attempted to bypass it...

To do so would be "the end of the Senate as we know it" because it would dash the protections that the Senate has always afforded lawmakers in the minority and, by extension, their constituents.

Harkin also tried to revise his fall 2002 vote of authorization for force in Iraq...

"I feel like I was lied to by this administration."

Harkin first voted to authorize the use of force in Iraq in 1998, when the Clinton administration changed its policy from containment to regime change.

A change based on the same evidence of Saddam’s weapons programs that the Bush administration used in 2002.

Here's Harkin on energy policy...

the U.S. needs to reduce dependency on foreign oil, not through more domestic drilling in the continential outer shelf or the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge...

He said an appalling statistic is that the U.S. spends $900,000 per minute on imported oil.

CommieTommie's not smart enough to see a correlation between an increase in domestic drilling and a decrease in imported oil and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Joe Six Pack

Some idiot wrote the Ragister and said his name is Joe Six-Pack, turns out he's really an a-hole named Brad Smith of Clive and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The point of the letter was to slam Sarah Palin...

I can pronounce the word nuclear correctly, as well as all words ending with "ing," and I resent Palin acting (and speaking) like a hick. She merely perpetuates the myth that I am uneducated or just plain dumb.

Jimmy Carter says NUKE-YOU-LER and he was freakin' educated in nuclear engineerin'.

I'd be willing to wager that "Joe" has voted for Leonard BOZO-well as his CONgressman.

That means if brains were beer, both couldn't make a six pack between them.

I'll drink to that.

Life in ObamaNation

That One, to a plumber in Ohio who believes Obama's plan will tax him more...

"It's not that I want to punish your success".

I don't wanna, but I am gonna!

"I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they have a chance for success too
."

"I think that when you spread the wealth around its good for everybody."

From The Washington Times...

he will give 95 percent of all American workers a tax cut but does not mention that his plan would send checks to tens of millions of tax filers who pay no personal income taxes - payments that critics say look "suspiciously like welfare.

Because the IRS says that nearly 46 million tax filers - one-third of all filers - had no tax liability in 2006, there is the question of how millions of Americans can receive an income "tax cut" when they pay no taxes.

That doesn't sound like tax relief that would encourage work, savings and investments and the scientific community is united in that fact.

President Obama?

I came across an article, A President Barack Obama, it ponders what America could expect...

An Obama appointment of Hillary Clinton to the Supreme Court bench as soon as an opening occurs.

Retiring U.S. Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., as defense secretary; Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick as attorney general; New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a political independent, at treasury; Susan Rice as national security advisor; Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., as secretary of state.

Obama’s tax policy will have an immediate effect on small businesses and result in many individuals seeing their marginal tax rate double.

Obama knows that if you try to impose things like racial quotas and gay marriage, that would not be a vote-winner. But if you appoint federal judges who impose those policies, you can evade responsibility.”

He would, however, favor a very strong government hand in regulating the economy, both because he believes that government knows best and because that means more subsidies and jobs to hand out to supporters, and more votes and PAC contributions to get in return.

It would be the beginning of Obamageddon and the scientific community is united in that fact.

If you've got the money, honey

This New York headline recently caught my eye...

Prostitution has not suffered drop-off despite economic meltdown

It's nice to see that former Governor Eliot Spitzer, Hooker Client #9, is still doing his part to stimulate the economy.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Completely Irresponsible

The Ragister, and their reporter David Elbert, sunk to an all time new low and the scientific community is united in that fact.

In the top story on the front page of Saturday's paper, Elbert is allowed to inject conjecture and speculation from an "anonymous broker friend" as to why The Principal Financial Group has taken a market hit on it's stock.

Two reasons, said my broker friend: uncertainty and fear.

He's not sure why or when, but he says at some point major investors lost confidence in the balance sheets of Principal and other major insurance companies. Investors became fearful that the same type of bad investments that sunk Lehman and AIG might be hiding in the balance sheets of other insurers, he said.

I can see why his broker friend didn't want to be named, he doesn't know shit!

It had more to do with U.S. Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid (DUMMYCRAT/NV) and his frivolous remarks of October 2nd...

"...One of the individuals in the caucus today talked about a major insurance company. A major insurance company -- one with a name that everyone knows that's on the verge of going bankrupt..."

Reid's careless announcement of an anonymous rumor helped sink Principal stock 15.5%.

The Ragister doesn't allow anyone to write an anonymous letter to the editor, but allows a reporter to quote an anonymous friend for a front page news story.

Interesting journalistic standards.
