Worth a chuckle or twelve, if it wasn't so sad

The Rev. Al Sharpton yesterday threatened to again seek the Democratic presidential nomination unless current contenders, including four senators he visited on Capitol Hill, commit to focusing attention on civil rights issues.

Mr. Sharpton's comments came as he visited Democratic Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, Barack Obama of Illinois and Christopher J. Dodd of Connecticut, the four senators seeking the party's nomination.

Mrs. Clinton after speaking with Mr. Sharpton said she is in lock step to deal with "21st-century civil rights issues" such as those Mr. Sharpton is backing.

"These are issues important to our country and ... an agenda that I support," she said.

Only in the Dummycrat party would Al Sharpton be taken seriously and I see HRC wated no time pandering to the pimp daddy!

Former President Jimmy Carter once complained there were "too many Jews" on the government's Holocaust Memorial Council according to the council's former executive director, Monroe Freedman.

Maybe it's because 6 Million peanut farmers weren't systematically annihilated!

Doesn't Carter's picture look like she should have a set of numbers underneath and accompanied by a second side shot?

Gov. Chet Culver said Monday he would push state lawmakers this session to ease Iowa's limits on embryonic stem cell research and to pour money into a new research center at the U of I to put the science into practice.

Speaking in front of a crowd of at least 200 at the U of I's Medical Education and Research Facility, Culver said a "modest" $12.5 million should be dedicated to creating a center for stem cell research at the U of I.

This appeared in the Ragister and happened Thursday, not Monday!

Culver... also stressed the importance of easing restrictions on a type of stem cell research currently banned in the state.

"Stem cells are a huge benefit, but an embryonic stem cell wants to grow into a baby," said Sen. Jerry Behn, a Boone Republican. "To me, the proponents of embryonic stem cells are being deceptive. They are alleging that a cure is around the corner and if you're not for embryonic research you're against progress. But adult cells are where the breakthroughs have come from."

Lastly, back to Washington...

Senate Democrats quashed a proposal yesterday that would have dramatically increased civil fines on employers who hire illegal aliens.

The proposal came directly out of the employer-sanctions section of the immigration-reform bill approved with overwhelming Democratic support last year.

It would raise the minimum fine on employers from $250 per hired alien to $5,000 per alien. And it would raise the maximum fine from $10,000 per alien to $40,000 per alien.

First it was the Reverend Wright, then Father Pfleger and now the Reverend Jesse Jackson.

He has the support of Minister Farrakhan, but has rejected that.




He still has the Reverend Al Sharpton solidly in his corner.

I guess that just leaves the New Black Panther Party to run his volunteerism efforts.

Astonishingly, a DOUBLE Standard

Governor Mitt Romney, Republican (MA), caused a media stink when in Iowa last weekend. He referred to the "Big Dig" in his state as a "TAR BABY".

James Taranto in his Best of the Web column for the Wall Street Journal's OpinionJournal received examples of others use of "TAR BABY".

• The Boston Globe has used the term in at least two editorials, reports the Boston Herald's Victoria Buckingham: " In a 1994 editorial, the Globe described U.S. dealings with Iran as resembling a 'tar baby' and even articulated the term's assumed meaning in a 1998 editorial on China's censoring of the Internet: 'The Communist rulers of Beijing ended last year tangling with a tar baby. The tar baby--passive, sticky and invincible--was played by the Internet, which the leaders want to censor.' " (The Herald also referred to the Big Dig as a "tar baby" in a 2004 editorial.)
  
  
• Ditzy left-wing columnist Molly Ivins wrote in October 2001, "It now looks, with 20-20 hindsight, as though he should have taken a few more deep breaths before smacking that tar-baby that is Afghanistan."
  
  
• In a 2003 interview with the Boston Globe, John Kerry described 1992 hearings on missing soldiers in Vietnam as a political "tar baby."

Also, Toni Morrison penned a book titled, TAR BABY. Tony Snow took some heat for his use of the term, naturally he serves a Republican, but not a peep about the others.

Then to see this picture of Senator Joe Lieberman, with Bill Clinton, doctored to put him in blackface. The doctoring was done by Jane Hamsher and was posted, but removed, from Huffingtonpost.com

Hamsher is a Hollywood producer and fiberal blogger. She moved to Connecticut to support Ned Lamont over Lieberman in that Dummycrat primary.

Where's the outrage? Where's Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, oops they're in Connecticut working for Ned Lamont.

Berkely, Home of '60s Fiberalism

Tikkun.org, is a Berkely based group, and part of a "Spiritual Activism Conference" beginning today and running through Saturday at the All Souls Unitarian Church in Washington D.C. (Note previous post/May 9 "Progressive...isn't that a soup?"). I have major concerns of any organization that has Cornel West, National Co-Chair, and Cindy Sheehan associated with it. What no Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton? That's not P.C. Their plan is to help fiberals infuse God into their politics, a "spiritual covenant with America"an alternative to Newt Gingrich's "Contract With America" that is credited with helping Republicans take back the House of Representatives in 1994. The "covenant" says Congress should gear all its legislation, tax policies, budgets and social programs towards being "loving and caring for others". This "Network of Spiritual Progressives (NSP) Advocates a New Bottom Line in America. This bottom takes into consideration not only how well institutions and the economy maximize money and power, but how well they maximizes love and caring, ethical and ecological sensitivity and behavior, kindness and generosity, non-violence and peace, and the extent to which they enhance our capacities to respond to other human beings in a way that honors them as embodiments of the sacred, and enhance our capacities to respond to the earth and the universe with awe, wonder and radical amazement." Of course like most groups and individuals I've encountered who preach "diversity" and "open mindedness" they have a tendency to keep their own minds closed. Part of their "New Bottom Line" challenges the misuse of religion, God and spirit by the Religious Right. Now that doesn't sound like a response that "honors human beings as embodiments of the sacred" as well as "maximizing love and caring". To paraphrase a slogan of the '60s...Peace, Love, Dope(s)!!

Rush to Judgement

Last month the President of the Atlanta NAACP told America that it was prematurely punishing Michael Vick.

"... to treat him as he is being treated now is also a crime."

R. L. White lectured...

"...Be restrained in your premature judgment until the legal process is completed."

Now, White is not waiting for the process to be completed before telling...

"...the NFL, Falcons, and the sponsors not to permanently ban Mr. Vick from his ability to bring hours of enjoyment to fans all over this country."

White is under the delusion...

"His crime is, it was a dog."

Actually, it was eight dogs executed in April, I don't doubt there were more and the scientific community is united in that fact.

There's more to it than just killing dogs...

A federal grand jury indicted (Vick)...on a single count of conspiracy to cross state lines to engage in illegal gambling; to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture; and to buy, transport and receive dogs for animal fighting.

Vick plans to plead guilty to the conspiracy charge.

The NFL's anti-gambling policy states that a player can be suspended indefinitely or have his contract terminated if he "knowingly associates with gamblers or gambling activity."

Don't forget...

The Attorney for Surry County, where Vick allegedly operated his dogfighting business, said last week the evidence revealed in federal court so far has solidified his plans to prosecute Vick on animal cruelty and dogfighting charges. State charges could bring Vick up to 40 years in prison.

I'm surprised Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton haven't weighed in.

After all it's not about justice, but just us.

...Their reaction to al-Zarqawi's death was to lower the U.S. flag at the Times building to half-staff. (Ha ha — just kidding! Everybody knows there aren't any American flags at The New York Times.)...

...People have gotten so inured to ridiculous behavior on the left that they are no longer capable of appropriate outrage when something truly treasonous happens. It is rather like the rape accusation against Bill Clinton losing its impact because of the steady stream of perjury, obstruction of justice, treason, adultery and general sociopathic behavior coming from that administration.

This is a phenomenon known in the self-help community as "Clinton fatigue" (not to be confused with the lower back pain associated with excessive sexual activity known as "Clinton back")....
