"To be a little melodramatic, the budget would kill people, No question".

The good news is those people will still get a government paycheck (Feds pay $601 million to dead retirees) and the scientific community is united in that fact.

While on the subject of government paychecks, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner didn't dispute a Harvard economist's estimate that each job in the White House's jobs plan would cost $200,000.

We've noted earlier a cost of $230,000 to $250,000 (and higher) per job.

Stim-U-Late-ing

The stim-u-less is working as intended, the stim-u-less is working as intended.

The President and his posse are mouthing those words because if you say something loud enough and long enough it must be true, right O.J.?

Obama said if it weren't for the stimulus “state deficits would be nearly twice as large as they are now...".

However big that may be, right Big Lug Nut?

Obama also bragged that his stim-u-less has delivered tax relief.

A whopping $13 dollars per week, if you're lucky and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The President, with that you will respect my authoritah look, says we need to be patient and that the stimulus was not designed to work in four months.

Really?

When he unveiled his plan it was supposed to revitalize the economy in the short-term.

"...We can't wait for the next president to act. We need that middle-class tax cut now more than ever - not five months from now or five weeks from now, but now. I'm announcing a plan to jumpstart the economy by putting money in the pockets of those who need it most and will spend it quickly."

When he signed the stim-u-less into law, in February, his advisor David Axelrod said the stimulus would have an immediate impact on the economy.

Paul Krugman, 2008 Nobel Prize winner in economics, said "...the stimulus started working before it began."

They're not the only ones speaking out of both sides of their ass.

Larry Summers, director of the White House’s National Economic Council, said last month...the economy has improved this year.

“The economy is in a very different place than it was three months ago. There’s been a lot of normalization.”

Less than a month later, “I don’t think the worst is over ... It’s very likely that more jobs will be lost. It would not be surprising if GDP has not yet reached its low...".

Lavender Graduation for the LGBT

In today's Washington Times/Inside Politics column they mention a survey from Young America's Foundation. It notes the number of "Democratic Party officials, leftist activists, and members of the media," who were commencement speakers at this years college graduations. The tally includes former President Bill Clinton (Princeton University), Archbishop Desmond Tutu (College of William & Mary), Illinois Sen. Barack Obama (Northwestern University), retired Gen. Wesley K. Clark (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute), Al Gore's daughter, Karenna Gore-Schiff (Columbia University). From the press: CNN's Anderson Cooper (Yale University), MSNBC's Chris Matthews (Fordham University) and the New York Times' Paul Krugman (Clark University). The roster also included self-described Marxist Gustavo Esteva (University of Vermont) and global-warming guru Ralph Cicerone (North Carolina State University). The survey also notes four universities offered separate recognition ceremonies for black students and ten offered separate ceremonies for homosexual and transgendered students. Iowa State University was one of the ten! The picture at left is from the ISU Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgendered web-site and is of the Lavender Graduation, a tradition since 1997. I checked the other two state university web-sites and found that the University of Iowa mentions a Rainbow graduation, but provides no details. It took some work to find the LGBT web-site at The University of Northern Iowa, but there was no info on graduation ceremonies. I sent an e-mail to all three institutions of higher learning (?) and asked simple questions. Why? What is the cost? Who Pays? What other groups have separate graduation ceremonies? I may be jaded, but I believe if I receive an answer it will be of the P.C. variety.
