My Guarantee

In launching his latest campaign ad (Field Of Memes?), the Big Lug Nut told the press -- “I can guarantee you one thing, we’re going to win on Nov. 2.”

The press still has never pressed Culver on a previous guarantee from February --

"And I guarantee you by late spring and summer, we're going to have a record amount of job creation and economic development in the state."

Iowa's job gain in July was 1,700 jobs.

That's not a record amount and the scientific community is united in that fact.

I can guarantee you the 113,800 unemployed Iowans don't think it's a record amount of job creation.

The 30,000 jobs you told Iowans that I-JOBS would create would have been more like it.

Culver now is complaining of a hidden meaning in Team Branstad's latest ad.

Culver related that using the word, "big", over his picture is an inappropriate attack on his weight.

Odd, because he also told the press that he didn't consider the ad an attack on your “girth”?

Now he's trying to be macho and is challenging Branstad to a triathlon.

NO!

I still haven't got these pictures out of my mind.

Chet Culver has had his chance and Iowa can't afford to give you another one.

Quote A Bull

The Liter likes these 2K10 gems...

The Des Moines Register on Super Bowl Sunday --

"More People Will Read The Register Today Than Will Watch The Big Game".

"With a combined print and online audience of 587,878 readers, The Des Moines Register is a tremendous scoring opportunity".

The Nielsen numbers for Central Iowa showed 632,000 people watched Super Bowl XLIV.

In the political arena, you had Mari "Mrs. Big Lug Nut" Culver admitting

It will be nice to make money. That’s never a bad thing.”

That's Blasphemy to Dummycrats and the scientific community is united in that fact.

At a Cedar Rapids campaign rally, with Vice President Joe Biden --

"If you’re not pumped now, you’re not pump-able".

November showed no pump-a-tude.

Here's Biden, in Cedar Rapids, on the Big Lug Nut --

I’ve known Chet — I hate to admit this — since he was seven years old, sitting in my front lawn in Wilmington, Delaware with his dad and mom..." shortly before referring to him as "Chuck Culver".

There was Rozanne, err Taxanne Conlin, "whatever her name is", running for the Senate because --

"I'm fed up with tax breaks for the very wealthy..."

All the while this very wealthy person, with assets between $12.5 million and $46.8 million, took tax abatement on her $1.7 Million home and received $64.2 Million in housing tax credits.

The Big Lug Nut brought us --

This isn’t my first rodeo. We’re going to be ready and we’re going to win this race.”

And

I can guarantee you one thing, we’re going to win on Nov. 2”.

It wasn't his first guarantee, or the first time he was wrong.

"And I guarantee you by late spring and summer, we're going to have a record amount of job creation and economic development in the state."

Iowa's unemployment rate remained well above 6.5% for all of 2010.

Without a doubt, the Big Lug Nut's best came from the first gubernatorial debate...

Brain Suck

Nationally, President Obama tops the list with --

"I'm not going to rest...until the leak is stopped at the source, the oil on the Gulf is contained and cleaned up and the people of this region are able to go back to their lives and their livelihoods".

All the while taking getaways to Chicago and North Carolina, finding time to play basketball, go golfing and take in a Nationals game.

And

"...we talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers, so I know whose ass to kick."

His ended up getting kicked in November.

However, he was on top of his game with

Plug The Damn Hole

Pepsico just gave us the finger

Effective October 1, Pepsico Inc. CFO
Indra K. Nooyi will replace Steven Reinemund as CEO, the Pepsi-Cola company said yesterday, making her the No. 2-ranked female Chief Executive Officer in the Fortune 500.

Nooyi is a native of India, she says she stays true to her heritage by often wearing a sari to Pepsico events. Forbes.com quotes her as saying: "Being a woman, being foreign-born, you've got to be smarter than anyone else."

I guess she wasn't sooo smart last year in a commencement address to Columbia Business School! In that address she compared the five continents of Africa, Asia, Europe, South America and North America to the human hand.

First, let’s consider our little finger. Think of this finger as Africa. Africa is the little finger not because of Africa’s size, but because of its place on the world’s stage. From an economic standpoint, Africa has yet to catch up with her sister continents. And yet, when our little finger hurts, it affects the whole hand.

Our thumb is Asia: strong, powerful, and ready to assert herself as a major player on the world’s economic stage.

Our index, or pointer finger, is Europe. Europe is the cradle of democracy and pointed the way for western civilization and the laws we use in conducting global business.

The ring finger is South America, including Latin America. Is this appropriate, or what? The ring finger symbolizes love and commitment to another person. Both Latin and South America are hot, passionate, and filled with the sensuous beats of the mambo, samba, and tango: three dances that – if done right – can almost guarantee you and your partner will be buying furniture together.

This analogy of the five fingers as the five major continents leaves the long, middle finger for North America, and, in particular, The United States. As the longest of the fingers, it really stands out. The middle finger anchors every function that the hand performs and is the key to all of the fingers working together efficiently and effectively. This is a really good thing, and has given the U.S. a leg-up in global business since the end of World War I.

However, if used inappropriately – just like the U.S. itself - the middle finger can convey a negative message and get us in trouble. You know what I’m talking about. In fact, I suspect you’re hoping that I’ll demonstrate what I mean. And trust me, I’m not looking for volunteers to model.

Discretion being the better part of valor...I think I’ll pass.

What is most crucial to my analogy of the five fingers as the five major continents, is that each of us in the U.S. – the long middle finger – must be careful that when we extend our arm in either a business or political sense, we take pains to assure we are giving a hand...not the finger. Sometimes this is very difficult. Because the U.S. – the middle finger – sticks out so much, we can send the wrong message unintentionally.

Unfortunately, I think this is how the rest of the world looks at the U.S. right now. Not as part of the hand – giving strength and purpose to the rest of the fingers – but, instead, scratching our nose and sending a far different signal.

She also shared a personal anecdote about some disrespectful U.S. businesswomen in an Asian country and how typical that is of Americans overseas.

I know one things for sure, the Ragister's RekHA Basu is rejoicing.

I'm also going to have to re-think my doing of Diet Dew!

The Dippy Chicks

I see they're coming to the Tin Can in Des Moines with their “Accidents & Accusations” tour. I was never a big fan, I don't own any of their cd's. After what they did in March 2003, at a concert in London, I have to agree with Navy Airman Lt. Layne McDowell from Lubbock, Texas. "I have proudly fought for my country in the skies over Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan without regret. For you to travel to a foreign land and publicly criticize our Commander in Chief is cowardice behavior. How dare you pocket profits off songs about soldiers, their deaths and patriotism while criticizing their Commander in Chief abroad, even while they prepare to give their lives to ensure your own freedom of speech. Never again will I allow my funds to support your behavior. All you have done is to add your name to a growing list of American "Celebrities" who have failed to realize that they have obtained their successes on the backs of the American blue-collar workers such as our servicemen and women. To Natalie Maines: This Texan — this American will continue to risk his life to guarantee your freedoms. What will you do to deserve it?"

Counting The Days

According to President Obama, he's got a little over 1,200 days left in office.

Or, roughly 179 golf days and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Obama continued --

I am going to spend every waking minute of every one of those days thinking about and then acting upon any good ideas out there that are going to help ordinary Americans succeed, that are going to make sure that the next generation believes in the American Dream because they’ve seen it in their own lives.  That’s how I’m going to spend my time.

Sound familiar?

Labor Day 2010 --

I am going to keep fighting every single day, every single hour, every single minute, to turn this economy around and put people back to work and renew the American Dream, not just for your family, not just for all our families, but for future generations. That I can guarantee you.

America wanted FORE more years and they're getting it, as Obama's on Track to Break His Annual Golf Record.

Radio Ga Ga

Fiberals are all excited about the new one hour radio show to debut during the highly tuned in time period of 7-8p.m.(?)

Fallon For Um will air on 98.3 WOW tonight.

The station is ninth in the last ratings period, ages 12+ , with a 4.3.

That means 4.3 people tuned in each quarter hour Monday-Sunday 6a.m. to Midnight.

The most tuned in times for radio are morning, afternoon, mid-day, then evenings such as 7-8p.m.

The station is so excited, WOW-- let me say that again backwards--WOW, to have Ed on the air that they haven't even added him to their staff listings.

Maybe that's because technically Ed isn't on staff, see he's paying them to air the show--$350 an hour?

Is Ed paying himself again?

The online Ragister ran a story with the headline

Watch out Limbaugh, Fallon is after your gig

I guarantee, with both hands tied behind my back, the El Rushbo never paid for his air time and Ed will never earn the over $400 Million Limbaugh's last deal is worth--even if he plays the accordion.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Ed's guest tonight is Dolores Huerta, who helped establish the United Farm Workers with Cesar Chavez.

Her message is supposed to be that which her mother taught her of being generous and caring for others, unless you count the lies she's spread such as "Republicans hate Mexicans" at the Tucson High Magnet School.

There's the controversy brewed up in a commencement speech this summer at Cal State Bakersfield where she asked graduates to shout a Zulu word that represents unity.

I'm not surprised, coming from someone who's an elected Honorary Chair of the Democratic Socialists of America.

Does she know Barack Obama?

Apparently so--“He’s an opportunist…He’s not given a drop of sweat for the immigrant struggle…He hasn’t been involved with Latinos.”

Huerta was a Hellary supporter and she was none too happy with Obama's taking over of the UFWA’s slogan of "Si, se puede" with his "Yes we can.

Should be a riveting hour (YAWN!).

Other upcoming Fallon guests will include the Subjective Theatre Company of Des Moines, coincidentally a group helping to underwrite the Fallon For Um.

I can't wait until he gets around to his efforts to negate Gore-BULL warming.
