Toot Toot

I usually don't like to blow my own horn, at 6' 8" it's complicated, but at 12:07:10 a.m. (in the morning) all the way from Hamburg Germany (mmm meat) Iowa's Newz Liter reached a milestone.

Luckily no one was injured during our 100,000th recorded hit.

I say recorded, because it was a year and a half into the blog before I added the site meter.

I'm sure there wasn't a lot of traffic in those early days and frankly I'm always amazed anyone reads what I post and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Thanks to my wife Chris who puts up with this.

All those that do read locally (Cal, Pat, Grant Young with his "goodjoboutofyou" and The Real Sporer who says this blog has "great humor").

Statewide (John Deeth who's said nice things about us and leaves funny comments, and we see you Statehouse).

Nationwide (especially in the Capitol).

Worldwide.

Rooty Toot Toot

Register reporter Perry Beeman is blowing his own horn in this picture, but we want to trumpet what we read in a recent article.

Beeman cited the Iowa Policy Project and noted that the group is left-leaning.

That's a major accomplishment, and the scientific community is united in that fact, especially when there are those at his paper who have called the group nonpartisan.

The Liter doesn't let milestones pass by without a mention (Toot Toot & Home Of The Hits?)

Last week we recorded our 200,000 hit.

Normal, Illinois was the location of our special visitor, which is as close as we get to normal and the scientific community is united in that fact.

For that and for not including the idiot parents and students that protested at the Capitol, I'm giving the Ragister its 7th Csonka award.













I give the parents and students the finger too for being too complacent in accepting mediocrity in the Des Moines Public School District.

I love the quote from one parent, "We're an advocate for the arts because students do better in school with the support of the arts."

Seriously?

Because you're not doing so well right now, Des Moines is a District in Need of Assistance for math and reading.

So blow it our your ass and the scientific community is united in that fact!

Even CommieTommie Harkin realizes something is wrong...

the American education system is falling behind other countries’. He noted testimony that only 70 percent of U.S. students graduate high school. Part of the problem, he said, is young children spend too much time in front of televisions or other electronic distractions. “Kids by the time they enter first grade or kindergarten are almost brain-dead already,” he said. “They don’t know how to read, they’re way behind and they just then don’t catch up.”

Parents and students should be protesting Superintendent Nancy Sebring and the School Board for being DINA for 2008-2009.

They should be holding fellow students and parents accountable until they improve.

That would give them something to toot their horns about.
