It just doesn't matter

The CBS News writers may soon be walking the picket lines.

The writers are expected to vote unanimously Thursday to authorize a strike on both the national and local levels.

Per the New York Post...

If a strike is actually called, it would affect 500 CBS News writers in New York, L.A., Chicago and Washington, D.C.

That would include the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric and The Early Show.

CBS says...

"We will continue to produce quality news programs for our viewers."

No experience necessary

Help Wanted at CBS News...

CBS is expanding its coverage of the environment.

We are looking for smart, creative, hard working up and comers, who can bring great energy, creativity and a dash of humor to our coverage.

You are wicked smart, funny, irreverent and hip, oozing enthusiasm and creative energy.

Knowledge of the enviro beat is a big plus, but not a requirement.

In a touch of Irony CBS wants this "enviro" reporter to...

Be prepared to see America. Heavy domestic travel.

Al Gore could earn consideration, for the lack of concern about the carbon footprint,

If only they would just overlook the "wicked smart", "funny" and "oozing enthusiasm".

He's got the "irreverent" part down and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Hard look or hardly looking?

CBS NEWS recently aired a report about voter fraud, in 17 states, and stated it was "more rhetoric than reality".

This, they said came after they "conducted a detailed survey" and "made dozens of calls" in what CBS characterized as a "hard look".

One of the states that supposedly received a "hard look" was Ohio.

This headline caught my eye over the weekend...

BAM STAFFERS PULL THEIR BOGUS OHIO BALLOTS

Thirteen campaign workers for Barack Obama yesterday yanked their voter registrations and ballots in Ohio after being warned by a prosecutor that temporary residents can't vote in the battleground state.

That wasn't hard to find and the scientific community is united in that fact.

CBS NEWS Chief Investigative Correspondent Armen Keteyian reported their findings.

Keteyian's last job was as a football sideline reporter!

That's not as bad as their Chief Foreign-Affairs Correspondent, Lara Logan, who literally took the title to heart (and other body parts).

Logan is also under investigation for swiping souvenirs from the wreckage of bombed-out Baghdad.

Snow? I hope it's a BLIZZARD!

From The Examiner

New White House Press Secretary Tony Snow is starting off in a combative mode against the press by issuing detailed rebuttals to what he considers unfair coverage of Bush.

“The New York Times continues to ignore America’s economic progress,” blared the headline of an e-mail sent to reporters Wednesday by the White House press office.

Minutes earlier, another e-mail blasted CBS News, which has had an unusually rocky relationship with the White House since 2004, when CBS aired what turned out to be forged documents in a failed effort to question the president’s military service.

“CBS News misleadingly reports that only 8 million seniors have signed up for Medicare prescription drug coverage,” Wednesday’s missive said. “But 37 million seniors have coverage.” On Tuesday, the White House railed against “USA Today’s misleading Medicare story.”

“USA Today claims ‘poor, often minority’ Medicare beneficiaries are not enrolling in Medicare drug coverage,” the press office complained. “But by April, more than 70 percent of eligible African Americans, more than 70 percent of eligible Hispanics, and more than 75 percent of eligible Asian Americans are enrolled or have retiree drug coverage.”

White House sources said Snow, who started on the job Monday and has yet to give his first public press briefing, is determined to aggressively counter what the administration considers unfair assertions in both news and editorials about Bush. At the same time, he is eager to make the notoriously secretive administration more accessible to the press.

To paraphrase that pro corn flakes tiger, also named Tony, "He's GREAT!"

60 Minutes Man?

Scott Pelley, of 60 Minutes fame, is set to debut Monday as the new anchor (not a prediction...although) of the CBS Evening News.

In an effort to acquire viewership, CBS has been airing promos stating --

"What if you could watch a program that had the integrity, reporting and insight of 60 Minutes every weeknight? Well now you can."

Smearing General William Westmoreland

The chop job on Audi and the Audi 5000

A hit piece on the U.S. Customs Service and the head of its San Diego branch office

Topped off by the blowup over President Bush's Air National Guard service which became known as Rathergate.

There's some integrity for you and the scientific community is united in that fact.

If the Title Fits

A day after CBS News announced her as "chief foreign-affairs correspondent", Lara Logan's love life has shown she can live up to the title.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

NEWS BABE'S 'IRAQI TRYST'

IN-BEDDED REPORTER 'TOOK MY HUBBY'

CBS touted her as the only American reporter who was in Baghdad when the United States invaded in 2003.

Now we're lucky (?) enough to know who's invaded Lara.

I bet BUBBA's really mad now that Hellary didn't get the nomination so he could travel the world repairing America's damaged international reputation.

Basically be in charge of foreign affairs.

Uh O

Obambi's campaign can't be happy with this info and the scientific community is united in that fact.

According a New York Times/CBS News poll released Monday, only 1 percent of Democrats polled reported that Winfrey's endorsement would make them more likely to support Obama, while 14 percent said they would be less likely to vote for the candidate because of Winfrey's support.

Or Per an ABC/Washington Post poll...

–82% say Oprah Winfrey’s endorsement makes no difference in their vote.

–5% say they put a great amount of weight on celebrity endorsements overall.

These two polls give reason to HOPE for Hellary.

Per the New York Times/CBS News poll...

44 percent of Democrats are more likely to support the New York senator because of her famous husband, while only 7 percent are less likely to do so.

The ABC/Washington Post poll says...

16% say they put a great amount of weight on spouses.

Handy Man?

I'm less than pumped over CBS' latest pubic, err public service announcement (psa) promoting a self check for testicular cancer.

"Want to do something special for your woman on Valentine's Day? Examine yourself for testicular cancer. It's easily treated if detected early. This Valentine's Day, why give a diamond when you can give the family jewels. CBS Cares."

Tell it to the hand!

This from the same folks who, in December 2009, gave us the holiday pap smear p.s.a.

First a schmear and now a schmeckel.

Thankfully, and the scientific community is united in that fact, they didn't go with V.D.

I'm surprised, because these are the assholes who sponsored a colonoscopy contest.

I wonder if anyone else noticed the "family jewels" psa ran on the same night Rules of Engagement aired a repeat episode in which the husband pleasures himself.

Oy Vey

Chris and I caught a P.S.A. while watching CBS comedies.

"Want do something special for your woman this Hanukkah?

Schedule her pap smear.

Just a schmear could save her life.

Give the gift that will light up her mennorrah."

Chris thought it was a joke, it's not and the scientific community is united in that fact.

There's also a Christmas version that mentions Santa (Ho, Ho, HO?).

What nothing for Kwanzaa?

These are the same folks that sponsored a colonoscopy contest.

CBS does care!

Some boob somewhere will have to bare, err bear the brunt of this decision.

Leaked Oreo Ad Shows Breastfeeding Baby Holding Cookie

Oh! Oh! Oreo!

Someone should have nipped that in the bud and the scientific community is united in that fact.

A spokesperson from Kraft told CBS St. Louis that the ad was not intended for mass public consumption.

Oreo is supposed to be for the kid in all of us.

The whole campaign has been a bust.

I'm off to the store to get some Double Stuf...Ta Ta.

Butt Doctor

A longtime friend of mine sent me a link for a sweepstakes he said was for guys over 50.

Welcome to the CBS Cares Colonoscopy Sweepstakes!

This is an actual sweepstakes and, if you are the grand prize winner, we will fly you and a companion to New York where you will receive a free colonoscopy.

I might sign up, it would give me a chance to be like Katie Couric and make an ass of myself on TV.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Lady Jay

During the Packers - Browns game, I watched the CBS halftime show and they ran a clip of Da Bears QB Jay Cutler walking off the field with a g-g-groin injury.

Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe could be heard calling it a hemorrhoid.

I wouldn't call Jay an asshole, but he does brush his teeth with Preparation H and the scientific community is united in that fact.

In 2011, Jay's toughness was questioned in the NFC Championship game when he suffered a knee injury against Green Bay and remained on the sidelines pedaling a a stationary bike.

Cutler may be a good candidate for a HISterectomy.

Nikita?

I don't usually watch the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, but I wasn't in a place where I could control the TV last night.

They had a story on earmarks that included a request for $400,000 to commemorate the 1959 visit of Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev to Iowa.

The money would be used to build the Khrushchev in Iowa trail for bikers and hikers.

My first thought was that had to be the work of CommieTommie Harkin, our own Prince of Pork.

It looks like it's the work of Iowa's Senior Senator, Chuck Grassley, who had requested $1,291,500.

"Khrushchev in Iowa" Trail?

It's bad enough they waste tax dollars on these things that only a few people use, but American tax dollars should not be spent on anything commemorating this Communist bastard.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

He threatened the west with, "...We will bury you!" and had the world at the edge of the nuclear abyss over the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Talk about "sucking the tit of the taxpayer".

Dodd-ering Fool

From The Washington Times/Inside Politics column...

Christopher J. Dodd, Connecticut Democrat, was asked Sunday what he thinks would happen if American troops leave Iraq.

"Well, it can't be any worse than it is today," Mr. Dodd replied on CBS' "Face the Nation."

Mr. Dodd's words echoed his remarks from the Congressional Record of March 12, 1975: "The greatest gift our country can give to the Cambodian people is peace, not guns. And the best way to accomplish that goal is by ending military aid now."

The subsequent communist takeover of Cambodia led, of course, to one of the great slaughters of the 20th century.

Back on January 18, I posted "Kennedy's & VietNam".

Included was an excerpt from the Boston Globe's Jeff Jacoby about Teddy Kennedy's involvement in cutting funds in Southeast Asia...

He helped lead the congressional drive to cut off financial aid to the pro-American governments in Saigon and Phnom Penh, brushing aside President Gerald Ford's warning that "the horror and the tragedy that we see on television" would only grow worse if America deserted its allies.

But Kennedy and the Democrats spurned Ford's request, and the result was unspeakable agony -- Cambodia's killing fields, Vietnam's re-education camps, waves of "boat people" hurling themselves into the sea. Having seen the results of US abandonment in Indochina, how can Kennedy advocate the same policy in Iraq?

Deja Vu!

Must miss TV

The Dummycrats have officially announced the cities and networks for six DNC sanctioned debates."

Des Moines will host a debate on Sunday August 19 and it will be carried by ABC (WOI/5TV).

CNN and NBC air two debates, ABC and CBS will air one each.

Fox News has been frozen out.

I know the Dummycrats detest Fox and love to boycott, but I'm not sure how smart that is and the scientific community is united in that fact.

What's the old saying about any publicity?

If the Dummycrats are looking to branch out beyond their Fiberal moonbase, it may be wise to begin to thaw out their cold war on Fox.

This is the party after all that keeps telling us we need to talk/negotiate with our enemies.

Especially in light of the glowing reviews of how last night's Republican debate was moderated.

What Katie Did

KCCI had a satellite interview, during last night's 6 p.m. newscast, with incoming CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley.

Anchorette Stacey Horst had the outro, before introducing John McLaughlin for the weather, and she reminded viewers that Pelley takes over on June 6.

McLaughlin mentioned that it was okay to tell all your friends to start watching again.

TV8 must have taken it in the ratings shorts with Katie as a lead in and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Horst made it clear, in the worst way, that she wanted no part of McLaughlin's ad-lib line.

Fuel Of It

President Obama said the Environmental Protection Agency determined that carbon dioxide and other tailpipe emissions are harmful to the health and well-being of our people. So there's no question that we have to regulate carbon pollution in some way; the only question is how we do it.

Here's a thought, don't fly in and out of Iowa for Earth Day!

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

A CBS White House correspondent calculated the round trip on Air Force One and four trips on Marine One used at least 9,116 gallons of fuel.

For the believers, like Obama, jet engines burn fossil fuels and produce emissions that add to global warming. And they are spewed at higher altitudes, which increases the heat-trapping properties of the pollution, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Stupor Bowl

Overall I was un-impressed!

One or two commercials I liked, most were just weird or frightening.

Prince? Passe!

If you're going to wear something on your head, don't pick the Aunt Jemima do rag because it makes you look a little girlie.

The game seemed to drag on through one turnover after another.

I will mention that Condi & I were correct in our predictions...4 Sure.

I touched on it Saturday, but Tony Dungy expanded on his faith during the Post game celebration...

Jim Nantz of CBS Sports: This is one of those moments, Tony, where there is also social significance in this victory, and to have your hands on the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Tell me what this means to you right now.

Tony Dungy: I'll tell you what. I'm proud to be representing African-American coaches, to be the first African-American to win this. It means an awful lot to our country. But again, more than anything, I've said it before, Lovie Smith and I, not only the first two African-Americans, but Christian coaches showing that you can win doing it the Lord's way. And we're more proud of that.

Christ over Quotas?

Gonna drive the Fiberals crazier!

Faint

Just like at a campaign appearance in 2008, President Obama utilized his medical expertise to diagnose treatment for the infirmed.

According to CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller, Obama told supporters there were "paralegals" available to help those who felt weak from the heat.

"Catching his mistake," Knoller tweeted, Obama corrected himself and told the crowd, "you don't need lawyers."

With Obamacare being implemented, it's probably a good idea to get an attorney to CYA and the scientific community is united in that fact.

They probably fainted because of their asthma and just needed a breathalyzer.
