Veep Steaks

I thought Sarah Palin looked like a Caribou caught in the crosshairs for the first half hour, but there were times when she ate Biden's lunch.

Just like John McCain, she found her footing and took off.

I'm not sure why Palin's lapel mic seemed to be the only one on before and after the debate (Can I call you Joe?) .

I was glad that she got in the McCain warning two years ago, regarding Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

It was good she mentioned Obama has voted the Democrat party line 96% of the time, I believe it's more like 97%, that's clearly not bipartisanship.

She scored in our household with...

"Don't live outside our means. We need to make sure that as individuals we're taking personal responsibility through all of this."

When Biden went off about "deregulation", Palin should have reminded Biden that he voted for banking deregulation in 1999 and it was signed into law by Bill Clinton.

Senator Biden you can choose to call it fairness, but it is a redistibution of wealth!

Since 2000, tax cuts have taken 13 million filers off of the income tax rolls. Today, one-third of all filers have no federal income tax liability and nearly 40% of all federal income taxes are now paid by the top 1% of taxpayers (60% by the top 5%).

How's that for fairness?

Biden continues to lie, the AP disproved it last week, about McCain's $5,000 health care tax credit...For most families, that tax credit would for several years be more generous than the current tax break for employer-sponsored health insurance.

Biden was also critical of it going "straight to the insurance company".

Isn't that where you buy insurance?

I thought Biden's response to the question of "what promises have you and your campaigns made to the American people that you're not going to be able to keep?"

Biden: "Well, the one thing we might have to slow down is a commitment we made to double foreign assistance. We'll probably have to slow that down."

Biden then went on to talk about how they wouldn't implement any of McCain's campaign proposals?

Joe Biden gaffe...John McCain said as early as last December, quote -- I'm paraphrasing

You can't paraphrase a quote and the scientific community is united in that fact, maybe he meant plagiarizing?

On energy, Biden and Obama mouth that we need to drill domestically, but as Palin pointed out...

"Barack Obama and Sen. Biden, you've said no to everything in trying to find a domestic solution to the energy crisis that we're in. You even called drilling -- safe, environmentally-friendly drilling offshore as raping the outer continental shelf".

Biden lied when talking about clean coal technology..."I have always supported it. That's a fact".

He said his comments regarding in Ohio were taken out of context, you be the judge...

"No coal plants here in America," he said. "Build them, if they're going to build them, over there. (Meaning China) Make them clean."

"We’re not supporting clean coal," he said of himself and Obama.

She came close to my point yesterday, Debate Day, when she called Biden out for supporting the war and then opposing it and even got in Biden's face with the fact it was a war resolution.

I find it odd that Democrats have trouble waging war against people that are trying to kill us, al-Qaeda, but have no trouble committing Americans into battle in places like Darfur.

I loved Palins closing statement...

I like being able to answer these tough questions without the filter, even, of the mainstream media kind of telling viewers what they've just heard. I'd rather be able to just speak to the American people like we just did.

And it's so important that the American people know of the choices that they have on November 4th.

I want to assure you that John McCain and I, we're going to fight for America. We're going to fight for the middle-class, average, everyday American family like mine.

I've been there. I know what the hurts are. I know what the challenges are. And, thank God, I know what the joys are, too, of living in America. We are so blessed. And I've always been proud to be an American. And so has John McCain.

We have to fight for our freedoms, also, economic and our national security freedoms.

It was Ronald Reagan who said that freedom is always just one generation away from extinction. We don't pass it to our children in the bloodstream; we have to fight for it and protect it, and then hand it to them so that they shall do the same, or we're going to find ourselves spending our sunset years telling our children and our children's children about a time in America, back in the day, when men and women were free.

We will fight for it, and there is only one man in this race who has really ever fought for you, and that's Sen. John McCain.

Chris mentioned several times that Biden is good at talking, it must be that 35 years of experience in the U.S. Senate where all they do is talk, and she couldn't keep up with all the figures flowing from his lips.

Well, figures lie and liars figure!

The Letter?

Barack Obama criticizes John McCain as being a "deregulator" and blames deregulation for America's Housing Crisis.

Obama defends his role in the crisis by saying he wrote a letter, whereas McCain was trying to enact legislation, two years ago to Treasury Secretary Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke...

"I said that we've got a sub-prime lending crisis that has to be dealt with".

Searching "subprime" on Obama's Senate web site gets you eight hits.

The only letter to Paulson and Bernanke is dated March 22, 2007.

Not quite two years ago and the scientific community is united in that fact.

In the letter, Obama called for top economic policy-makers to convene a conference to help homeowners avoid losing their homes amid a wave of foreclosures.

Obama asked them to bring together lenders, consumer advocates, federal regulators and housing agencies for a summit meeting on preserving home ownership.

His press release stated...

Foreclosure rates soared among subprime borrowers, those with blemished credit, at the end of 2006 as adjustable rate mortgages reset at higher levels and home values moderated or fell after a five-year U.S. housing boom.

"We cannot sit on the sidelines while increasing numbers of Americans lose their homes," Obama said in a letter to Bernanke and Paulson.

An estimated 1.5 million homeowners are expected to face foreclosure in 2007, a 20 percent to 25 percent increase over last year, according to research firm RealtyTrac.

Obama believes the government's oversight agencies were too slow to respond to an overheating housing market, an aide said.

"Regulators are partly responsible for creating the environment that is leading to rising rates of foreclosure in the subprime market."

Regulators. Deregulators. which is it?

Obama complained Tuesday that nobody did anything about it his letter.

Nobody, including Obama!

By March 22, 2007 Obama was six weeks into his formal candidacy for President and couldn't be bothered doing his job of United States Senator, like writing legislation.

eCONomic CONfidence?

It's difficult to get a true picture of those Obama named to his economic team.

Most of it is inside the beltway BS and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Here's a quote from an alleged conservative economist Greg Mankiw, who ran the Council of Economic Advisers under President Bush in 2003, praising the appointment of Christina Romer to head the Council of Economic Advisers and Larry Summers named to head the National Economic Council...

"They are both mainstream economists, slightly left of center but not radically so. Very level-headed, but with a liberal point of view."

Turns out Mankiw was best man at Romer's wedding, no bias there.

I'm a little leery of her Professorship at the University of California at Berkeley.

Summers has quite a past that should make Fiberals anxious, including helping pass the Gramm-Leach-Bliley financial "deregulation" of 1999.

During the campaign Team Obama/Biden pointed to that as the cause of the housing crisis, even though Biden voted for it.

I'll give Summers some slack for the fact he called out Cornel West for missing too many classes, contributing to grade inflation, and neglecting serious scholarship.

Obama selected Timothy Geithner as his Treasury Secretary and the more you know the scarier it gets.

"We have only two things to say about Tim Geithner, who we do not know: AIG and Lehman Brothers," said Christopher Whalen of Institutional Risk Analytics. "Throw in the Bear Stearns/Maiden Lane fiasco for good measure," he said, referring to the site of the New York Federal Reserve, where many rescue discussions took place.

Also note...

Geithner was the point person for weeks of sleep-deprived Bailout Weekends. It was Geithner, not (Treasury Secretary Henry)Paulson, for example, who put together the original rescue plan for the American International Group.

Geithner also oversaw and regulated an entire industry whose decline has delivered a further blow to an already weakened American economy. Under his watch, some of the biggest institutions that were the responsibility of the New York Fed — Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch and most recently, Citigroup — faltered.

See Bilious

Maybe it's because she was in Iowa City, the capitol of the People's Republic of Johnson County, that caused Kansas Governor Kathleen See Bilious to utter her bile.

She accused Republicans of using "code language" to convince Midwestern voters that Obama is an unworthy choice for president.

The article doesn't state what the "code language" is, but the See Bilious one said...

"Have any of you noticed that Barack Obama is part African-American?" she asked with sarcasm. "(Republicans) are not going to go lightly into the darkness."

The only ones who are playing the race card are the Dummycrats, Obama himself and the media.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

The See Bilious one tried to tie a former McCain adviser, Phil Gramm, into recent economic woes...

"(Gramm) is the author of a lot of the chaos you're seeing."

As James Taranto points out a CO-author was then-Rep. Jim Leach of Iowa, is a co-founder of Republicans for Obama. If he has had second thoughts about banking deregulation, he did not mention them in his Democratic Convention speech.

Taranto also notes that Obama's running mate, Joe Biden, voted for the measure and it was signed into law by Bill Clinton.

It should also be noted that Obama's national finance chair is partially responsible for one of the greater banking collapses in American history.

Penny Pritzker, and family, were half owner's of Superior Bank, which was shut down in 2001 by the FDIC after it had lost nearly all of its more than $2 billion of assets on bad loans to high-risk borrowers.
