Cownie, is Mayor of a city planning to cut 11-percent from its budget and some vital services to overcome a budget shortfall of about $7.7 million.

Yeah, he needs a raise.

He better hope none of the cities resources will be wasted on Itchycoo Park.

Snowless Des Moines: City nears record for longest stretch without snow

Today will mark the 275th day without measurable snowfall in Des Moines, the last being 0.2 " on March 4.

Is it really a record?

And worth measuring?

Historically, June, July and August aren't big snow months and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Now they're fretting about the unlikelihood of a White Christmas.

I'm with State Climatologist Harry Hillaker -- "Every nice day we have now is one less day of winter. Winter's not really my favorite season of the year. It's nice not having to wear the heavy winter jacket and all that stuff."

Besides, it was just 2010 when we were looking at nearing the record of 72 inches of snow.

Now we know why Hector hasn't been a valedictorian, because he is the one ignorant of the facts.

Interesting that they claim a presence in Des Moines, but the 4 staffers list phone numbers in the 617 Area Code (Massachusetts), 612 Area Code (Minnesota) and 206 Area Code (Washington).

At least they have a Des Moines there, but they pronounce it Des Moinez.

Further searching found these photos, and only 1 member, on the Facebook page for Environment Iowa, which is affiliated/linked with Environment America.

I'm not sure, is using a water pipe good or bad for the environment?

Warm-errs are stating that the Greenhouse Effect, err Global Warming, err Climate Change can cause a rise in assaults, rapes and murders, as well as group conflicts and war and that the current projected levels of climate change, the world is likely to become a more violent place.

Wednesday was the 100th day so far in 2013 with below normal temperature in Des Moines. That ties the total for all of 2012.

I'm sure it's now up to 103, and counting, as the last 3 days have all seen below normal temps.

These fiberals do like their buses, at least Ed Fallon will be on foot for his Great March for Climate Action.

Although, I'm sure he'll have a motorized entourage and probably sag wagons.

The cast of usual suspects will be in attendance today, with few transporting themselves environmentally friendly to the festivities, including Des Moines Mayor Frank Clownie...err Cownie.
