Them vs Us

The Peacenik pantywaists will perform in an Ames tonight.

...organizers are hoping the event will be instrumental in "making Ames a hotbed of peace."

..."Some people may still see us as unpatriotic..."

I agree with Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT)...

"There is something profoundly wrong when opposition to the war in Iraq seems to inspire greater passion than opposition to Islamist extremism."

To help people take constructive anti-war action, organizers will provide information and materials. Plans are afoot to ensure that the city offers year-around peace activities.

Bernard Lewis, age 90, has studied Islam and the Middle East for more than half a century.

He says...

The Muslims bring fervor and conviction to the struggle; we don't. The Muslims are self-assured in the rightness of their cause; we answer with self-denigration and self-debasement. Muslims prize loyalty and discipline; we prize politically correct multiculturalism.

...When the Soviet Union was defeated in Afghanistan, we read it as a victory for the West; Osama bin Laden saw it as a defeat of the more dangerous of the two superpowers. When the United States did not respond to terrorist attacks on its embassies, on the USS Cole and the first attempt to bring down the World Trade Center, he concluded that America was weak and unable to reply to its enemies.

Once again history repeats itself and these Peaceniks give aid and comfort to our enemies.

From the String Section

The World's Tiniest Violin will play for the faculty at Iowa State University.

The Ragister headlines a "brain drain" at Moo U...

ISU pays its faculty the lowest average amount compared to its peer universities.

The average ISU faculty member makes $79,300 and the average Iowan makes $31,800!

What do we get for our money from the college crowd across the country?

Blame America First

Michael Barone has more...

..staffed by liberals long accustomed to see America as full of problems needing solving; ... packed full of the people cultural critic Roger Kimball calls "tenured radicals," people who see this country and its people as the source of all evil in the world.

On campuses, students are bombarded with denunciations of dead white males and urged to engage in the deconstruction of all past learning and scholarship.

For my tax money, you're overpaid!

Thou doth protest too much

Looks like the Good Guys were more in force than the Low Lifes in DC yesterday.

An estimated 30,000+ strong made their way to Washington to show the less than 20,000, and more like 5,000 to 10,000, Scummycrats of A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) how to show true support for the troops.

Singing "The Star Spangled Banner" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" they stood in solidarity to make sure there were no monuments desecrated, like the Low Lifes did the last time they went to Washington in January.

Then it was spray paint on the Capitol terrace and a Code Pink tiara on the Lone Sailor statue at the Navy Memorial.

I caught part of it on C-Span, I'm not sure why they give these goofballs so much coverage.

It turns out the socialists were proud that Al Jazeera was carrying their protest too.

When I tuned in to C-Span. there were less than 200 listening to speeches from groups like Haiti Support Network (who wanted an end to capitalism now), Nicaragua Network and the Alliance for Just and Lasting Peace in the Phillipines who shouted "American Imperialist #1 Terrorist".

I also love how they throw out their love for the Iraqi people.

They loved them sooo much when Saddam Hussein was butchering them and now they love them sooo much they want them to be blown up by Al Qaeda.

It would be nice if these bums could get a job (you'll need a nice 'do dude) and put away the Ernesto Guevara shirts (he was a cold blooded communist who admitted ordering the executions of several thousand people).

Peaceniks it's your choice, War There or War Here...because they want us all dead.

Say it again how you support the troops

The United States Senate, controlled by Dummycrats, was sunk in its efforts to cut and run from Iraq.

S.J. Resolution 9-- A Joint Resolution to revise United States Policy on Iraq.

It failed 48 to 50

The usual suspects were in favor

Akaka (D-HI)
Baucus (D-MT)
Bayh (D-IN)
Biden (D-DE)
Bingaman (D-NM)
Boxer (D-CA)
Brown (D-OH)
Byrd (D-WV)
Cantwell (D-WA)
Cardin (D-MD)
Carper (D-DE)
Casey (D-PA)
Clinton (D-NY)
Conrad (D-ND)
Dodd (D-CT)
Dorgan (D-ND)
Durbin (D-IL)
Feingold (D-WI)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Harkin (D-IA)
Inouye (D-HI)
Kennedy (D-MA)
Kerry (D-MA)
Klobuchar (D-MN)
Kohl (D-WI)
Landrieu (D-LA)
Lautenberg (D-NJ)
Leahy (D-VT)
Levin (D-MI)
Lincoln (D-AR)
McCaskill (D-MO)
Menendez (D-NJ)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Murray (D-WA)
Nelson (D-FL)
Obama (D-IL)
Reed (D-RI)
Reid (D-NV)
Rockefeller (D-WV)
Salazar (D-CO)
Sanders (I-VT)
Schumer (D-NY)
Smith (R-OR)
Stabenow (D-MI)
Tester (D-MT)
Webb (D-VA)
Whitehouse (D-RI)
Wyden (D-OR)

Nelson (D-NE), Prior (D-AR) and Lieberman (I-CT) sided with Republicans to shoot it down.

Two different measures were debated as well.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 20--A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of Congress that no funds should be cut off or reduced for American Troops in the field which would result in undermining their safety or their ability to complete their assigned mission.

This passed 82 to 16.

Dummycrats that didn't go along were...

Akaka (D-HI)
Biden (D-DE)
Bingaman (D-NM)
Byrd (D-WV)
Dodd (D-CT)
Feingold (D-WI)
Kennedy (D-MA)
Leahy (D-VT)
Menendez (D-NJ)
Murray (D-WA)
Reed (D-RI)
Reid (D-NV)
Rockefeller (D-WV)
Sanders (I-VT)
Whitehouse (D-RI)

Senate Resolution 107--A resolution expressing the sense of the Senate that no action should be taken to undermine the safety of the Armed Forces of the United States or impact their ability to complete their assigned or future missions.

In a complete surprise Dummycrats supported this and CommieTommie Harkin supported the latter two.

Surprised because this is what CommieTommie had to say, in just the last two months, about Iraq.

3/15... "misbegotten, misguided war"

2/17..."a tragic quagmire"

He utilized the same "quagmire" statement on 2/5, it's a theme he's used since shortly after the invasion.

That and Iraq is another Viet Nam.

Thomas Sowell shows that these statements aren't really showing support for the troops...

Talk about "supporting the troops" or "honoring the dead" is part of the general corruption of language for political purposes.

...
After generations of dumbed-down education in our schools, perhaps it is inevitable that there would be large numbers of people who have no way of separating rhetoric from reality.

The reality is that many of those in the media and in politics who are constantly talking about "supporting our troops" or "honoring our troops" have for years been in the forefront of those criticizing or undermining the military, long before the Iraq war.

During the early stages of that war, men fighting for their lives were criticized for not protecting the contents of an Iraqi museum.

Unsubstantiated charges against American military personnel create instant front-page news stories in the New York Times. But innumerable things that our troops have done that would make us proud are not likely to be reported at all.

...
Perhaps the most irresponsible act of all has been Congress's promotion of a non-binding resolution against the recent increase in American troop strength in Iraq.

People's opinions can differ on troop deployment, even if -- like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- they have never deployed troops in their lives and have no military experience whatsoever.

But if anyone in Congress is serious about stopping the war, they can simply cut off the money -- and take responsibility for the consequences that follow.

Instead, they want to have it both ways, passing a non-binding resolution whose only effect is to embolden our enemies and undermine the morale of our troops that they keep saying they are "supporting."

Cajones

Mexican President Felipe Calderon yesterday said he doesn't know whether relatives, who he said work as vegetable pickers in the United States, are there legally.

I do have family in the United States, and what I can tell you is that these are people who work and respect that country"...

The man has no shame!

They haven't respected our laws if they're here illegally!

...Calderon said half of the 4 million people from his home state of Michoacan now live in the United States.

2 Million from one state alone?

There are 31 states in Mexico, that means the the number of illegals is probably well over 20 Million!

...Mr. Calderon said he wants to see those workers who come to the U.S. eventually return to Mexico.

"We want them to come back; we want them to find jobs here in Mexico," he said. "We miss them. These are our best people. These are bold people, they're young, they're strong, they're talented."

Mexico's best people?

Here's what their women say...

a group of women from Tecalpulco have created a Web page urging the United States to enforce its immigration laws, forcing their husbands to return home.

In poignant public messages to their husbands, the women told of children who feel abandoned, and worry that their men have forsaken their families for other women and to enjoy life in America.

Best? talented people?

Just this week Des Moines Police charged Jose Hernandez-Yelasquez wit 3 counts of enticing children when he tried to get young girls into his van.

Jail records show Hernandez-Yelasquez was arrested in Des Moines three years ago and was held for immigration officials.

...Mr. Calderon chided Mr. Bush publicly Tuesday for approving the construction of 850 miles of fence along the U.S.-Mexico border, and yesterday he said he is worried about the rights of illegal aliens crossing the border.

Rights? Rights? You don't have no stinking rights! Rights are for citizens!

Don't tell America how to handle it's business!

Govern your country so your people will stay home!

It's Scandalous

...How the Dummycrats continue to try and make something out of nothing at all.

Per ABC, Hillary Rodham Clinton (HRC) will call for the resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales because 8 of 93 U.S. Attorneys were "fired".

HRC is piling on behind (but ahead of Obambi) Chuck Schumer, Ted Kennedy and John Kerry.

U.S. Code TITLE 28 > PART II > CHAPTER 35 > § 541

United States attorneys

(a) The President shall appoint, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, a United States attorney for each judicial district.

(b) Each United States attorney shall be appointed for a term of four years. On the expiration of his term, a United States attorney shall continue to perform the duties of his office until his successor is appointed and qualifies.

(c) Each United States attorney is subject to removal by the President.

Another Vast Right Wing Conspiracy!

Or is it?

Back in March 1993, Clinton Attorney General Janet Reno "fired" ALL the U.S. Attorneys.

What's surprising is that the Dummycrats would be upset that most were fired for failure to pursue voter fraud cases, the rest for poor performance.

I'm not talking idiots in Florida who still haven't figured out how to vote.

It appears these were cases of Fiberal organizations, that have ties to Dummycrats, involved in voter fraud in states like Washington and New Mexico.

Fiberals and Dummycrats rail about voter fraud (that never happened) when their candidates don't win.

However, there is no problem when the dead, illegal or convicted vote Dummycrat.

That's considered a landslide in Texas, in Illinois it's the Chicago way!

Deja Vu

Everything old is new again, thanks to the Clinton's!

Hillary blew the cobwebs from her brain and declared...

The "vast, right-wing conspiracy" is back...using a phrase she once coined to describe partisan plotting.

On Tuesday, she asserted the conspiracy is alive and well... She also used the phrase similarly during a campaign appearance over the weekend in New Hampshire.

Thank God I have my framed certificate and the t-shirt still fits!

If she'd just use her mouth for good instead of evil.

Makes you wonder what else they'll try to resurrect...hummer, i mean hmmm.

I forgot to remember

An article in The New York Times helped jog my feeble mind about "An Inconvenient Truth".

During one of the "non political" rants against Republicans, Al Gore criticizes a one time Bush Administration official for not being a scientist.

He complains that this official is editing information about "Gore Bull" warming and insinuates he's in the pocket of Big Oil.

What?

How is it possible for a non scientist to be so deeply involved in how scientific information is provided to the public?

That's right, it's ok if you're a Fiberal Dummycrat!

Although Mr. Gore is not a scientist...

“I am trying to communicate the essence of it in the lay language that I understand.”

Bought and paid for by Big Oil?

Not Dr. Don J. Easterbrook, emeritus professor of geology at Western Washington University...

I don’t want to pick on Al Gore,”...Easterbrook... told hundreds of experts at the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America.

“But there are a lot of inaccuracies in the statements we are seeing, and we have to temper that with real data.”

He hotly disputed Mr. Gore’s claim that “our civilization has never experienced any environmental shift remotely similar to this” threatened change.

Nonsense, Dr. Easterbrook told the crowded session. He flashed a slide that showed temperature trends for the past 15,000 years. It highlighted 10 large swings, including the medieval warm period. These shifts, he said, were up to “20 times greater than the warming in the past century.”

Getting personal, he mocked Mr. Gore’s assertion that scientists agreed on global warming except those industry had corrupted. “I’ve never been paid a nickel by an oil company,” Dr. Easterbrook told the group. “And I’m not a Republican.”

Al Gore has admitted that he fudges the facts...

"Nobody is interested in solutions if they don't think there's a problem. Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an overrepresentation of factual presentations on how dangerous it is..."

What does "overrepresentation" mean?

Nowhere does Mr. Gore tell his audience that all of the phenomena that he describes fall within the natural range of environmental change on our planet,” Robert M. Carter, a marine geologist at James Cook University in Australia, said in a September blog. “Nor does he present any evidence that climate during the 20th century departed discernibly from its historical pattern of constant change.”

I guess it could mean that!

A couple of other things that came back to me about the schlockumentary.

You see Al Gore an quite a few shots either driving, being chauffeured and flying.

There's also his interest in strip mining, which reminded me of this August 2006 USA Today commentary...

Gore's home in Carthage is sitting on a zinc mine. Gore receives $20,000 a year in royalties from Pasminco Zinc, which operates a zinc concession on his property. Tennessee has cited the company for adding large quantities of barium, iron and zinc to the nearby Caney Fork River.

Is that the same river that runs through the movie?

I little too ironic, don't ya think.

50 Big Ones

There seems to be some confusion about when Osama bin Laden turns 50.

Fanatics of his celebrated Saturday, other sources say it's not until July 30.

Either way I hope it's a BLAST and his LAST!

An Inconvenient GIRTH

Is Al Gore getting larger because he thinks he is the planet?

I was really, really bored last night.

My wife, Chris left yesterday for a business trip.

I noticed that An Inconvenient Truth was on Showtime, so I decided to give it a go.

I never take documentaries at face value, I think it's a good place to begin and then research further if I'm interested.

I guess it's because I view everything with a sense of skepticism.

Things that stuck out in my mind from the docudrama were...

The intro from the Director (Crazy Guggenheim) about how it's not political, then mentioning how Al Gore should win the Nobel Peace Prize.

They tried to run with the "it's not political" charade for quite awhile. Then they would use some of their precious time to bash Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, President Bush and Senator James Inhofe (R-OK).

Then later on they told us it is political. Damn make up your flip-flopping mind!

They also tried to paint Saint Al in the most positive light.

How he should be the ACTUAL President.

There were times when it seemed like a campaign commercial

That combined with the near death of his son has helped him realize there is that one thing he was meant to do.

I couldn't believe that they tried to sell us on the fact that the Gore's quit growing tobacco after Al's sister died from lung cancer in the mid '70s.

The docudrama went on for 1 1/2 hours and then was an additional forty minute diatribe/update fro Saint Al.

I came away thinking how is Al Gore going to save the planet, when he can't even save himself.

Also, what we need is to put the Earth in a Giant Lock Box.

Wrong Again!

Two Dummycrats came to Iowa to tell us how to pick our President.

From Saturday's Ragister...

Biden: Americans need experienced president

Americans must not vote for inexperienced, likeable presidential candidates, then hope the winner can get up to speed after the election, U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden said in Des Moines...

Then today comes word that...

Character Trumps Policy for Voters

A new Associated Press-Ipsos poll says 55 percent of those surveyed consider honesty, integrity and other values of character the most important qualities they look for in a presidential candidate.

Just one-third look first to candidates' stances on issues; even fewer focus foremost on leadership traits, experience or intelligence.

Wrong-o Joe! (Pictured putting Patrick Leahy (VT) and Ted Kennedy (MA) to sleep).

Maybe it's time to go back to borrowing from Neil Kinnock, or since you're in Iowa borrow from Nile Kinnick.

It's no surprise your middle name is ROBinette!

Next!

The Ragister reports today...

Iowans should be skeptical of presidential candidates who promise painless solutions to the nation's health care problems, former U.S. Sen. John Edwards said...

"You ask them how much it costs, if they don't tell you," he said. "And you ask them how they're going to pay for it."

"My plan costs $90 billion to $120 billion per year, and I've got a way of paying for it," he said... "The way we pay for it is by rolling back Bush's tax cuts for the richest people in the country."

The Washington Times runs a column today that takes on myths of President Bush's tax cuts...

The rich now shoulder even more of the burden. Since 2000, the share of individual income taxes paid by the bottom 40 percent of taxpayers dropped from zero to minus 4 percent -- meaning the average family in this group got a subsidy from the refundable child tax credit or earned income tax credit. The share of income taxes paid by the top fifth of taxpayers climbed from 81 percent to 85 percent.

Let's take a look at what John Kerry once said about John Edwards (Both pictured in what appears to be a shakedown of some youngster)...

"John Edwards, I notice, voted to give life to George Bush's tax cut, because he voted for the first round of that tax cut..."

Just like his old running mate, he was before the War with Iraq before he was against it and he was for the tax cuts before he was against it.

You IDIOTS will OBEY!

The Hill.com has the story and Youtube.com has the video.

Dummycrat Representative David Obey (WI) went off the deep end and berated the mother of a Marine who had the audacity to question the Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee about why he was not cutting off funding for the war.

“We’re trying to use the supplemental to end the war,” Obey said. “You can’t end the war if you’re going against the supplemental. It’s time these idiot liberals understood that.”

...“The liberal groups are jumping around without knowing what the hell is in the bill,” he bellowed. “You don’t have to cut off funds for an activity that doesn’t exist.”

...“We don’t have the votes to pass [a resolution],” he yelled. “We couldn’t even get the votes to pass a non-binding resolution one week ago. How the hell do you think we’re going to get the votes to cut off the war?”

“You cut off the funding,” an onlooker replied.

“How, if you don’t have the votes?” Obey roared in response. “That bill ends the war! If that isn’t good enough for you, you’re smoking something illegal. You’ve got your facts screwed up.”

“We can’t get the votes! Do you see a magic wand in my pocket?” he continued, opening his suit jacket as if to display an empty pocket. “We don’t have the votes for it. We do have the votes if you guys quit screwing it up. We do have the votes to end the legal authority for the war, that’s the same as de-funding it.”

When The Hill contacted him Friday about the videotaped encounter, Obey immediately apologized for getting angry with the woman, saying that his immense frustration about “this stupid war” boiled over.

“Once in a while that frustration boils over, I wish it hadn’t but you cannot continue conversations forever,” he said.

He also continued to skewer “liberal groups” for failing to inform the members and the public that the war supplemental spending bill contains language aimed at ending the war.

...Tensions had already been riding high, he said, because this week protesters had been “sitting in” his district office and have refused to leave at the end of the business day and were arrested.

“What so frustrated me about the encounter is that it became apparent that she had no idea that the bill she was being asked to tell me to vote against would set a deadline for our getting out of Iraq,” he said.

“So many of these liberal groups don’t adequately inform their members. They don’t have the full story about what we’re trying to do and they wind up not being able to distinguish their friend from their enemy. These people won’t take yes for an answer.”

...Instead of trying to help them in the task, the members of liberal groups are viewing them as the enemy rather than their friends, Obey said.

“When you have misinformation or lack of information put into their head’s, it’s a disservice to them and to me,” Obey said. “I respect their views. But I would hope they would also respect mine and others on the Hill who are working so hard to find a way out of this.”

...At the end of the interview Obey again said he was sorry about his outburst then cut off questions, saying he needed to get to a hearing.

“I’m sorry that the frustration happened to erupt in that hall,” he said. “I wish it hadn’t. If these groups would inform people before they hit the Hill…we might have a better chance to have the votes to end this thing.”

Not much of an apology!

I love it when Fiberals and Dummycrats attack each other, the cannibals.

Final Score: Obey 1?

(Subtle Star Wars reference for Pruisner's benefit)

My John Kerry Moment?

It's not quite I was for it before I was against it.

I once was an officer of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) for most of the 1990s.

I was led to believe that the Union had to legally represent all employees, union and non-union equally because Iowa was a "right to work" state.

When I went into a meeting with management regarding an employee, I didn't care whether they were members or not.

I went in an represented that employee to the best of my ability.

After the meeting some employees would share that they weren't union members.

I told them that was immaterial to me, my job was to represent them.

Some would ask for a union membership card at that point.

Some also joined after the outcome was reached.

I always believed that if i set a good leadership example, others would follow.

I told you that to tell you this.

With Congress and the Iowa State House under Dummycrat control, the labor movement is calling in its chits, at all levels, in an effort to get labor friendly legislation.

In Iowa labor would love a repeal of the "right to work" laws of this state.

Dummycrats are too scared to openly make that happen so the came up with a "Fair Play" compromise, right out of the Labor playbook.

Under this legislation non members would be required to pay a portion of dues to the union for services the union provides.

Now the Scaredycrats, err Dummycrats have whittled that down from all union shops to just public employees and this form passed the Iowa Senate last night.

Regardless of what has appeared in the Ragister under a name similar to mine, it is a common name, I haven't commented on "Fair Share" until today.

Under a CWA contract I was paid by the company in any meeting with them, so there was no additional cost to the union.

During my decade at the top of a CWA local, I attended two bargaining meetings.

There is no additional cost to a union to bargain a contract whether it represents 100 or 1,000 employees.

It's just better in negotiations to represent 100% of the employees versus 50%.

Labors argument is weak and has no merit!

Thinking with the right head

Thanks to Al Gore, the meat carnivore, I am so going green!

Canadians are now into GREEN SEX, KINKY!

Greenpeace has released a list of strategies for "getting it on for the good of the planet," suggesting "you can be a bomb in bed without nuking the planet."

TreeHugger, an online magazine edited by Ontario's Michael Graham Richard, has just published a guide on "how to green your sex life."

The famed adult store Good Vibrations announced last week they would no longer sell sex toys containing phthalates, controversial chemical plasticizers believed by some to be hazardous to humans and the environment alike.

And throughout Canada and the U.S., people who want to pleasure the planet can now buy everything from bamboo bed sheets to organic lubricant and "eco-undies."

Most environmentalists will agree the mainstream success of the Al Gore vehicle An Inconvenient Truth has helped give climate change the pop-culture sheen it's currently enjoying

...there's even an eco-friendly adult website dedicated to naked vegetarians, appropriately called Veg Porn.

Pleasure the planet ... but please don't smoke after

or

Planet-friendly love-making will make others green with envy.

I'm sure it'll start a whole bunch of new pick up lines, and give guys a new angle when pleading with their significant other.

Make LOVE not EMISSIONS!

The Rest of the Story

With apologies to Paul Harvey.

Yesterday I shared about John Edwards telling us What Would Jesus Think (WWJT).

Jesus would be most upset with the selfishness of Americans...

"I think that Jesus would be disappointed in our ignoring the plight of those around us who are suffering and our focus on our own selfish short-term needs. I think he would be appalled, actually."

I wrote about the over $6 Million dollar 28,000 square foot mansion that sits on 102 acres (2nd picture).

Turns out there's more excess, oops places to ponder the plight of the suffering!

He has an over $2.5 Million dollar 2,800 square foot beach mansion (1st picture).

It's situated on a gated island called Figure Eight Island near Wilmington.

John Edwards lives in a gated America? Is it guarded too?

Edwards is now bragging about the 100 Tom Vilsack supporters he's picked up.

I wonder if they'll get invited beyond the barricades to party like a Kennedy?

Channeling

What would Jesus think (WWJT)?

Thanks to John Edwards, we now know!

You expect this from a psychic medium such as John Edward (pictured posing), but not Presidential wannabe John Edwards.

Then I remembered how Attorney John Edwards made his multi-millions suing doctors he said didn't perform necessary c-sections.

At one point Edwards told the jury...

"this child is speaking to me. She's not here. She's not with us anymore but she's speaking to you through me. I can feel her speaking to me right now. She's telling me things."

Now Edwards tells us, in an interview with Beliefnet.com...

Jesus would be most upset with the selfishness of Americans and the country's willingness to go to war "when it's not necessary."

I guess Jesus forgives Edwards vote to authorize the Iraq war because he's repented.

Edwards goes on to speak in tongues...

"I think that Jesus would be disappointed in our ignoring the plight of those around us who are suffering and our focus on our own selfish short-term needs. I think he would be appalled, actually."

Edwards doesn't tell us what Jesus thinks of selling his Georgetown mansion for $5.2 Million to the Founder/CEO of Sunrise Senior Living.

That CEO is under Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigation for selling stock before an announcement of an accounting problem that caused the stock to drop.

Edwards also failed to mention what Jesus thinks of his recent selfish short-term acquisition of a 28,000 square foot mansion that sits on 102 acres in Orange County, North Carolina.

The over $6 Million dollar mansion is that counties largest and most valuable residence.

I doubt he'll soon be sporting a WWJT bracelet.

Consistency

As someone who makes fun of others, usually by name calling, it's hard for me to be "faux"raged by others speech.

Ann Coulter, shockingly, upset many when she said this at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC)...

I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word faggot - so… Kind of at an impasse. Can’t really talk about Edwards, so I think I’ll just conclude here and take your questions.

There was wide spread "faux"rage on many blogs, conservative and fiberal.

I have yet to see the same "rage" on fiberal blogs for leftists sadness over the failed assassination attempt on Vice President Cheney.

Most were put on the Huffington Post, but Bill Maher aired his on his HBO show "Real Time...

Maher: What about the people who got onto the Huffington Post – and these weren’t even the bloggers, these were just the comments section – who said they, they expressed regret that the attack on Dick Cheney failed.

Joe Scarborough: Right.

Maher: Now…

John Ridley: More than regret.

Maher: Well, what did they say?

Ridley: They said “We wish he would die.” I mean, it was (?) hate language.

Barney Frank: They said the bomb was wasted. (laughter and applause)

Maher: That’s a funny joke. But, seriously, if this isn’t China, shouldn’t you be able to say that?...

Ridley: It’s one thing to say you hate Dick Cheney, which applies to his politics. It’s another thing to say, “I’m sorry he didn’t die in an explosion." And I think, you know…

Maher: But you should be able to say it. And by the way...

Frank: Excuse me, Bill, but can I ask you a question? Do you decide what the topics are for this show?

Maher: Yeah, I decide the topics, they don’t go there.

Frank: But you exercise control over the show the way that she does over her blog.

Maher: But I have zero doubt that if Dick Cheney was not in power, people wouldn’t be dying needlessly tomorrow. (applause)

Scarborough: If someone on this panel said that they wished that Dick Cheney had been blown up, and you didn’t say…

Frank: I think he did.

Scarborough: Okay. Did you say…

Maher: No, no. I quoted that.

Frank: You don’t believe that?

Maher: I’m just saying if he did die, other people, more people would live. That’s a fact.

If you can generate "rage" over a slur that came out of a feeble attempt at humor, you can generate the same "rage" over wishing someone dead!

John Edwards had this to say about Coulter's comments...

"I think its important that we not reward hateful, selfish, childish behavior with attention. I also believe that is important for all of us to speak out against language of this kind; it is the place where hatred gets its foothold, and we can't stand silently by and allow this kind of language to be used."

I couldn't find any quotes from Edwards about those wishing death on Dick Cheney!

Personally, I think you lose the high ground, or any "faux" rage when you sully it with a fund raising attempt...

In a mass email sent to supporters today, Edwards Campaign Manager David Bonoir argued that "this is just a taste of the filth that the right-wing machine is gearing up to throw at us" and set a fundraising goal of $100,000 this week.

Bonoir also called the comments "one of the worst moments in American politics I've seen."

I also found amusing that Bonoir was so "faux" raged "I can't bring myself to even repeat her comments" but tells supporters "you actually have to see for yourself to believe it."

The mantra of the '90s continues, I'm offended by...(insert offense here).

The reality remains that they believe in freedom of speech, as long as you agree with what I'm saying.

I second that emotion

I got this e-mail from my brother in law, Chris.

I loved it and since it had a name associated with it, I thought I'd do some further checking.

Power Line had this back in November of 2005, but it still rings true...

Two weeks ago, as I was starting my sixth month of duty in Iraq, I was forced to return to the USA for surgery for an injury I sustained prior to my deployment. With luck, I'll return to Iraq in January to finish my tour. I left Baghdad and a war that has every indication that we are winning, to return to a demoralized country much like the one I returned to in 1971 after my tour in Vietnam. Maybe it's because I'll turn 60 years old in just four months, but I'm tired:

I'm tired of spineless politicians, both Democrat and Republican who lack the courage, fortitude, and character to see these difficult tasks through.

I'm tired of the hypocrisy of politicians who want to rewrite history when the going gets tough.

I'm tired of the disingenuous clamor from those that claim they "Support the Troops" by wanting them to "Cut and Run" before victory is achieved.

I'm tired of a mainstream media that can only focus on car bombs and casualty reports because they are too afraid to leave the safety of their hotels to report on the courage and success our brave men and women are having on the battlefield.

I'm tired that so many American's think you can rebuild a dictatorship into a democracy over night.

I'm tired that so many ignore the bravery of the Iraqi people to go to the voting booth and freely elect a Constitution and soon a permanent Parliament.

I'm tired of the so called "Elite Left" that prolongs this war by giving aid and comfort to our enemy, just as they did during the Vietnam War.

I'm tired of anti-war protesters showing up at the funerals of our fallen soldiers. A family who's loved ones gave their life in a just and noble cause, only to be cruelly tormented on the funeral day by cowardly protesters is beyond shameful.

I'm tired that my generation, the Baby Boom - Vietnam generation, who have such a weak backbone that they can't stomach seeing the difficult tasks through to victory.

I'm tired that some are more concerned about the treatment of captives then they are the slaughter and beheading of our citizens and allies.

I'm tired that when we find mass graves it is seldom reported by the press, but mistreat a prisoner and it is front page news.

Mostly, I'm tired that the people of this great nation didn't learn from history that there is no substitute for Victory.

Sincerely,

Joe Repya

Interestingly enough I found this in the Ragister, and it fit right in...

I had been a lifelong Democrat. Never again will I support the Democrats. Their attempts to disrupt, destroy, de-fund our military and troops and accept defeat for America is disgusting. Plus the disloyal Republicans supporting these actions are equally appalling.

Claims of supporting our troops are lies. Even though President Bush will not call them unpatriotic, I will. My son is a captain in the U.S. Army, and I take this as a personal insult. Their actions place our troops in more danger than they are already facing.

Now Congress is attempting to recall its vote that authorized Bush to take action after Sept. 11. Congress needs to be recalled. Our country and troops are in more danger from our elected representatives than from the terrorists.

I've got the Power

I'll consider us one of the lucky ones.

In the last week we've lost power twice.

Sunday morning for 15 minutes, from 6 to 6:15.

Yesterday morning into the afternoon for 3 hours, from 11:15 to 2:15.

So, I'll not complain about the power monopolies service.

In the past 11 years we've lived here, it's been longer and we've wondered why?

Bright, sunny days? It's been gone for nearly 24 hours.

We've had summer storms where we've lost it for a week at a time.

Where they get me grousing is when they spend money advertising after they've had so many outages, like this week.

Flip around to all local stations during a newscast and you'll see a commercial.

It seems like they're trying to offset the press they're getting for outages.

I also think they need to streamline some processes.

I called Sunday morning and reported our outage to their voice response system.

As soon as I hung up, the power came back on.

I called back to try and cancel the report I just made, no option for that in their automated system.

On Monday, I received a call from a U.S. Cellular number asking if we had power back and a few hours later a call came from a MidAmerican number asking the same question...Wasteful.

Don't even get me started on how they send estimated bills 10 months out of the year and complaining to the Iowa Utilities Board doesn't matter!

Boys of Summer

My friend Cal and I have gone to Kansas City for the last few years to watch the annual 3 game Yankees/Royals series.

This year it'll be twice as nice, they're playing two series!

Happy, happy, joy, joy!

The Bronx Bombers are in KC in July and September for a total of 7 games.

Single game tickets go on sale at 9 a.m.

I live for this!

Droppings from a Byrd Brain

From the Ragister...

A Des Moines man complained to police Thursday that he was robbed during a drug transaction.

Joe Byrd, 35, was robbed in the 1300 block of 24th Street about 2 a.m. Here's what the police report says:

"Victim advised that during a drug transaction suspect pulled a black semi-automatic handgun and stated, 'Last time I got robbed, so now I'm robbing you.' Suspect took items from victim and fled in a red sports car-type vehicle. Victim mentioned his believes suspect is from Ankeny."

Byrd was not injured. Taken were his keys, cell phone, $90 in cash and his jacket.

In perusing the public records at the Iowa Court System I found roughly 70 cases involving a 35 year old Joe Byrd.

Robbery, Assault,Driving while barred, child support orders, trespassing, false report to law enforcement and there were many more.

To say the least, he's beyond 3 strikes and it'll be awhile before he's nominated for Citizen of the Year!

Poor Poor Pitiful Me

The Pickle pouts on IPTV's "Iowa Press", airing tomorrow and Sunday.

"I don't want to sound like sour grapes, but you should not pay attention to early polls."

Oh poor poor me, oh poor pitiful me!

"Iowa polls are not accurate in terms of caucus support."

Woe is me!

"We were absolutely convinced, and I remain convinced and will as long as I live, that I would have won the Iowa caucuses based on the information that we had that is legitimate."

Des Moines pollster Ann Selzer said...."not all polls are bad."

"I've seen several polls in Iowa with decent sampling, and not one says Tom Vilsack had a good shot to take Iowa on caucus night."

Vilsack lied, the Iowa caucuses could have died!
The Pickle's problem was money related alright.

He'd been in government so long that he spent like a drunken sailor, allegedly burning though $500,000 a month.

7 campaign offices in his "home" state!

Campaign swings to New Hampshire, Pittsburgh, Nevada and South Carolina.

If he had a decent strategery, and more than 1,159 supporters at home, he could have ridden "BIG MO" to New Hampshire and beyond...HYAH!

Gather NO Moss

ESPN & The NFL Network have been reporting that the Green Bay Packers, and Brett Favre, are interested in trading for Oakland Raiders receiver Randy Moss.

The Packers are reportedly interested in acquiring Moss if the enigmatic receiver agrees to a restructured contact, the Contra Costa Times reports. Moss is scheduled to earn a base salary of $9.75 million this coming season and $11.25 million in 2008.

Moss is pictured in 2005, as a Minnesota Viking, mooning Packer fans in a Viking playoff win at Lambeau Field.

My gut reaction is that I would cancel my DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket and sit out the Packer's season.

I don't care about the faux mooning!

I care that Moss caught just 42 passes for 553 yards last year.

He's quit on the Raiders and before that he admitted sitting out plays when a Viking.

That's too much money to pay him and too much to give up to get him.

Bottom line...He'd be too toxic for a young team that has potential.

At Home with Bill & Hill

Sweatin' to the oldies?

I finally get why Bill always said...

"I feel your pain".

Being married to Hillary all these years has to be extremely painful!
