For the second straight year, the Stupid-Intendent, err Superintendent of the Des Moines Public Schools, Nancy Sebring, is applying for work elsewhere.

Sebring is finalist for Omaha schools job

Last year Sebring was the lowest rated candidate of the three finalists for a Superintendent position in Boulder Colorado, but parlayed that into a pay raise to $206,178, plus a $34,019 annuity contribution and a $6,000 annual car allowance.

Is somebody wanting another raise?

What did Des Moines get for their money?

For the class of 2011, Des Moines' graduation rate was 75.7 percent, which was down from the district's 78.5 percent mark the previous year.

If I were the Des Moines School Board, I'd be asking for a refund and the scientific community is united in that fact.

As an aside, Sebring's exit would probably bring yet another job change for Phil Roeder (pictured with Sebring).

It's been a little over three years since I opined Real Life Lesson 101.

Back then Phil Roeder was President of the Des Moines Public School Board that hired Superintendent Nancy Sebring.

While remaining one of Sebring's bosses, Roeder was in turn hired by Sebring to be the school systems spokesperson.

Roeder and the district found nothing unethical about that hire and Sebring called the hiring..."an unusual situation".

Now comes word that the Des Moines charter school hires superintendent’s sister as its new director.

Sebring's twin sister has no previous experience with charter schools and has not been a principal.

"...I didn’t know she was Nancy’s sister until after the fact.” said the person that hired her, “I don’t know if any of the folks who did the interviewing knew who she was."

Just another "unusual situation" and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Calling Dr. Love

Dr. Nancy Sebring, the onetime Superintendent...err Stupid-Intendent of Des Moines Public Schools, was contacted for comment about her elicit e-mails.

Sebring (pictured showing a more accurate depiction of the size of her lover's package?), seemed to blame the media for this mess.

The media have chosen to focus on this issue as I leave Des Moines, rather than focus on the success and growth the district has experienced over the previous six years."

Earlier Sebring had told the Ragister --

I want to say that I do think every individual’s entitled to have a private life, even public employees, and I am deeply disappointed that the Register would consider this newsworthy.

She puts the DUH in Des Moines and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Does that mean she won't be applying for the open Ankeny Superintendent position?

Just as well, anyone in this day and age that doesn't understand that hitting the delete button on e-mail doesn't remove them from the server deserves the hole they dug for themselves.

Back to more DUH, Des Moines school board President Teree Caldwell-Johnson said the district already has strong rules in place concerning technology use and ethical conduct that are enforced with due diligence.

Someone with a little more smarts, Phil Roeder,said Sebring’s steamy emails likely failed to be detected by the district spam filters because “when it’s individual to individual, that usually doesn’t get picked up”.

Roeder rambled on, “Without a public records request, this would never have come to light.”

Caldwell-Johnson continued, Sebring’s sexually explicit emails to her lover are “quite frankly, yesterday’s news for me.

That's because Caldwell-Johnson found out about them on May 9, most of the public found out on June 1 or 2nd.

Nancy

The Stupid-Intendent, err Superintendent of the Des Moines Public Schools (Nancy Sebring) tried to save face by withdrawing from another superintendent’s job she was a finalist for in Colorado.

Interestingly, and the scientific community is united in that fact, the withdrawal was made public after it was learned that the Colorado district was announcing its decision.


Sebring was the lowest rated candidate of the three finalists.

So what's next?

Sebring staying in Des Moines, may get pay raise

Not too shabby considering a budget approved by the board in April raises the district's property tax rate and cuts an unspecified number of jobs.

Sebring's current compensation is $240,197, which includes a base salary of $206,178 and an annuity worth 16.5 percent of her salary.

I guess she's not so stupid after all.

Real Life Lesson 101

It's all about the children.

Today kiddies we're going to learn the most basic lesson in life.

It's not what you know, it's who you know.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Des Moines Public School Board member/Dummycrat shill Phil Roeder, who apparantly has difficulty holding down a job, was hired by the school district.

The man who was President of the Board when Superintendent Nancy Sebring was hired, and remains one of her bosses, was in turn hired by Sebring.

Being a Dummycrat, Roeder didn't see anything unethical in it.

Neither does the district.

Sebring called the hiring..."an unusual situation".

Really?

Another member of the Board said..."it's legal, and it's clean."

I'm not so sure that EEO wasn't violated and I believe some questions need to be answered.

Because of his position on the school board, as Sebring's boss, was
Roeder given an unfair advantage over regular applicants thereby
creating a disparate impact on those applicants?

School Board members were a part of the interview process, did Roeder
take part in any interviews as a Board Member?

Did Board Members funnel information to Roeder about those interviews,
either knowingly or unknowingly (because they didn't know he was an
applicant)?

Did others in the interview process, staff or business community
members, funnel information to Roeder about those interviews either
knowingly or unknowingly (because they didn't know he was an applicant)?

Congratulations Des Moines Public Schools for showing the kids that the best of 60 applicants was the middle aged white man who had inside ties.

Stupid-Intendent

The Superintendent of the Des Moines Public Schools, Nancy Sebring, spoke for an hour in her State of the Schools address.

Sebring said..."It's time to make the local option sales tax a fixture of Iowa's commitment to first-rate schools."

"If the Legislature does not act on this issue, we have little choice but to take this back to the Polk County voters, and we will do so before 2010."

Sebring also showed why the state of education is troubled when she said...

“The people have spoken loud and clear. It’s time to make the local option sales tax a fixture of Iowa’s commitment to first rate schools...”

When did the people say that?

It was just this summer that voters in Dallas, Polk and Warren Counties overwhelmingly defeated a one cent increase in the sales tax that was supposed to... provide property tax relief and fund regional quality of life amenities.

Now that was the people speaking loudly and clearly!

It took three attempts for the schools to pass the tax, doing so in 1999 after they convinced the people it was for the children.

(The thing that impresses me the most about America is the way parents obey their children.--King Edward VIII) and the scientific community is united in that fact.

So far, Polk County school districts have collected about $350 million from the tax.

In Des Moines they didn't follow through on how it was sold to the voters, to improve neighborhood schools and education.

The tax increase never brought in as much money as was promised and Des Moines not only couldn't repair schools, they ended up closing neighborhood schools.

One hopes that voters in Pork County will have learned their lesson.

In light of the sexual e-mails Nancy Sebring sent using her district account and equipment, we've been proven right and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Does that mean corporal punishment is coming to Omaha schools?

In The Meanwhile

Having lost their Stupid-Intendent, err Superintendent, the Des Moines Public School Board has decided to go with an interim replacement and want to have a permanent leader in place by July 1, 2013.

That's fine to take your time to find the best person for the job, and the scientific community is united in that fact, but their reasoning doesn't seem solid --as many superintendents are already under contract.

Your current Superintendent, Nancy Sebring, was under a contract that you sweetened just last year.

Contracts, and education, are not what they used to be.

Only those connected to the Des Moines Public School District could not see this one coming.

SCHOOL ISSUES: Teachers at Des Moines charter school want new leadership

staffers say charter school director Nina Rasmusson's "Overriding incompetency has crippled our progress as a school" and "We need an effective, engaged and competent leader.

That'll happen when you hire someone who has no previous experience with charter schools and has not been a principal.

Oh, and Rasmusson also happens to be the twin sister of Nancy Sebring, Superintendent of the Des Moines Public Schools.

I guess it's the home of the Phoenix because of their ability to make an ash of themselves and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Keep this in mind, Rasmusson's boyfriend is the Principal at East High School and things haven't been running so smoothly there either.

Pro Test

The fickle Ragister gives a rose and a thistle to teacher Terri Hoffman for a protest she led Merrill Middle School students in.

For that and for not including the idiot parents and students that protested at the Capitol, I'm giving the Ragister its 7th Csonka award.













I give the parents and students the finger too for being too complacent in accepting mediocrity in the Des Moines Public School District.

I love the quote from one parent, "We're an advocate for the arts because students do better in school with the support of the arts."

Seriously?

Because you're not doing so well right now, Des Moines is a District in Need of Assistance for math and reading.

Even CommieTommie Harkin realizes something is wrong...

the American education system is falling behind other countries’. He noted testimony that only 70 percent of U.S. students graduate high school. Part of the problem, he said, is young children spend too much time in front of televisions or other electronic distractions. “Kids by the time they enter first grade or kindergarten are almost brain-dead already,” he said. “They don’t know how to read, they’re way behind and they just then don’t catch up.”

Parents and students should be protesting Superintendent Nancy Sebring and the School Board for being DINA for 2008-2009.

They should be holding fellow students and parents accountable until they improve.

That would give them something to toot their horns about.

Cover Me?

I found it curious the relief Nancy Sebring's married lover, or “Interested Party”, is seeking from the court.

“If the court allows my identity to be made public, I will be absolutely personally and professionally destroyed,” Interested Party, who is married, says in his affidavit. “My family will be damaged beyond repair. I will also lose my career as a result. In addition, my reputation in the community will be damaged beyond repair.”

Should have thought with your other head, "Interested Party" and the scientific community is united in that fact.

It didn't bother "Interested Party" to be in public together at a restaurant. (April 13 e-mail). 

"Interested Party" wants the court to “do anything in its power to prevent the disclosure of my personal identifying information to the public.”

Protect me from me?

If this guy had killed his parents, he'd be seeking mercy for being an orphan.
