That's Cool!

There are only a handful of people who get me and I'm o.k. with that.

My wife Chris is one and my friend Cal too (or two).

John Deeth can be added to that list as it has come to light that the Liter is one of John's regular stops...

Iowas News Liter will keep you up to date on snark, and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Deeth is one of the few liberals that I get, I think because he doesn't take himself too seriously.

In addition, he's done time in radio and is a Cheesehead...although as someone who remembers the first two Super Bowl wins, I'm much moldier than that.

I've often thought, Sarcasm--without it life itself is nearly impossible.

However, SNARK seems much cooler and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Thanks John Deeth!

Itchycoo Park

The Liter is proposing that as the new name for Des Moines' Stewart Square, the now home of the relocated societal misfits that are Occupy Iowa/Des Moines.

Occupy Iowa protesters accept mayor’s offer, move to city park

Frank Cownie, pictured with President Obama, saved the protest-errs from once again getting their ass kicked by authority and the scientific community is united in that fact.

It seems that's what official spokesmodel and "Dumbass" David Goodner wanted when he spoke of "the risk of a big confrontation".

The Occupy-errs were hoping to attract hundreds – if not more than 1,000 – protestors to the Capitol grounds to try to thwart the state from arresting trespassers.

How'd that work out 99?

You'd be better off counting on Red Balloons!

Cownie, who should have provided furs to keep the Occupy-errs warm, told the protest-errs --

“We want you to feel like that’s a good place to gather” and “I want my police force out taking care of the bad guys and arresting criminals”.

Cownie, is Mayor of a city planning to cut 11-percent from its budget and some vital services to overcome a budget shortfall of about $7.7 million.

Yeah, he needs a raise.

He better hope none of the cities resources will be wasted on Itchycoo Park.

What did you do there?
I got high
What did you feel there?
Well I cried
But why the tears there?
I'll tell you why
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful

Tell you what I'll do (what will you do?)
I'd like to go there now with you
You can miss out school (won't that be cool)
Why go to learn the words of fools?
What will we do there?
We'll get high
What will we touch there?
We'll touch the sky

Pinheads

Richard Cohen of The Washington Post sees SNOB-ama's lack of a flag pin...

as an expression of cool, the statement of a candidate who wants to be president but not at the cost of his intellectual integrity.

I don't wear a flag pin on my lapel and I never added a flag to my car after 9/11, but I've LOVED this Country before it became cool.

What bothers me about SNOB-ama is he first wore one and then didn't wear one, but has lately worn one and now wrap's himself up in several flags at his appearances.

Now he's ending his speeches with...and may God Bless the United States of America.

That phrase was no where to be found when he announced for the Presidency , or at the 2007 Iowa Jefferson-Jackson dinner or even on Caucus night.

They've only been added as he gears up towards a general election, instead of a Dummycrat campaign.

That's not "intellectual integrity", it's certainly not leadership and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Who the hell are SNOB-ama and Richard Cohen to question the patriotism, and intentions, of those that wear a flag pin?

Another Day

Day 2 of the Dummycrat National Convention and here's what should be known.

Patty Murray -- told attendees that with a Democratic Senate, President Obama can get results

Obama has had a Dummycrat Senate his entire term and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Notably, it has been more than three years since the Democratically held Senate complied with federal law and passed a budget.

As we pointed out yesterday, the Senate hasn't approved a budget since April 29, 2009.

Delaware Gov. Jack Markell: "Mitt Romney said he likes to fire people. Barack Obama likes to see people hired."

That's Mr. 0 and 23 million he's referring too.

Elizabeth Warren --  People have hearts. They have kids. They get jobs. They get sick. They cry. They dance. They live; they love, and they die.

WOW, or should I say POW WOW?, where are the jobs under Obama?

FACT: Obama is still a net job killer

Bill Clinton -- on Barack Obama - A man cool on the outside but burning for America on the inside

It would be more accurate to say that Obama's burning America down and he's cool with that.

Chris Matthews on Bill Clinton -- I always figured that if Bill Clinton landed on Mars, he would know how to do it with them, he would know how to reproduce, he would know everything.

Of that there is no doubt.

I wonder what CommieTommie thinks of that Mars analogy?

And Finally...

Oy! Monica Lewinsky’s rabbi to give benediction after Bill Clinton speaks

Brilliant!

Cigar? Cigarette? Tiparillo?

The I's Have It

The President is going to deliver a speech to the nation's school children and the White House has released an advance copy.

Don't be a fool
Stay in school
Otherwise you're a tool
That wouldn't be cool
And try not to drool
Because that's not healthy
Remember, I rule.

As usual with Obama, and his administration, it is all about the I.

And the scientific community is united in that fact

Your families, your teachers, and I are doing everything we can to make sure you have the education you need to answer these questions. I’m working hard to fix up your classrooms and get you the books, equipment and computers you need to learn.

The media has been reporting the speech has caused controversy and the Minister of Propaganda, Robert Gibbs, compared it to an 'Animal House' food fight.

Do The Bluto, Do the Bluto

The controversy was about the study guides, which the White House withdrew, such as how to "write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president."

It would be nice if they would take the responsibility, that they're asking from others, in how they mishandled this event.

Freeze Frame?

It may seem cold hearted, but last week we opined that the Big Lug Nut should be ashamed of himself for adding staff during a time of eliminated open jobs and a hiring freeze.

What's cool is the Ragister has found

State has added 752 during hiring freeze

Chilling to state employees is the fact it's nearly the number of state workers initially pegged for layoffs to meet Culver's order of a 10 percent across-the-board budget cut.

The BLN has acted decisively in protecting his turf and justifies his staffing with cold, hard facts?

"The governor and lieutenant governor have a responsibility to manage state government effectively, and these positions are critical to helping (them) do just that."

So said spokeswienee Troy Price

"During difficult times, each position in the governor's office is needed to effectively communicate with other state agencies and manage the entirety of state government so that Iowans continue to receive essential services."

I get that they think Iowans should just chill, but he comes across as an Icehole!

The Ragister notes one of the BLN's new hires responsibilities is as correspondence coordinator.

I've documented how well that's worked and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Now is the winter of our discontent!

The Heat(s) Of The Moment

Basketball Jones Barack Obama thought his recent visit to Miami would be incomplete without congratulating the city of Miami for having the World Champion Miami Heats.

Burn!

That's a Technical Foul, as the team's name is Miami Heat and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Is Mr. Cool starting to melt under the pressure?

There was no report if he also congratulated two time champion Dwyane Wad.

Hello Cold World

State Senator Rob "Boss" Hogg will transport himself, via non environmentally friendly means and the scientific community is united in that fact, from Cedar Rapids to Ames today to talk about the Greenhouse Effect, err Global Warming, err Climate Change.

The Capitol Square Crapper claims it's a part of a statewide tour of colleges and universities that includes presentations at the University of Iowa, Grinnell College, St. Ambrose University, Upper Iowa University, Maharishi University of Management, and Luther College.

The Ragister also reports "Boss" Hogg expects to schedule additional appearances at Iowa colleges and universities this fall.

Wonder how much time he'll spend on the coming global cooling?

A cooling that will not end until the middle of this century.

Couldn't "Boss" Hogg just use the Iowa Communications Network?

Or Skype?

That's what all the cool kids are using.

Never mind.

Drinkin' Wine

Describing it as "pretty cool", Dummycrat Senator Rich Olive introduced legislation for a "wine doggy bag".

The bill allows you to take unfinished wine home from a restaurant.

These are the pressing issues facing Iowans and the scientific community is united in that fact.

I'll drink to that Spo-Dee-O-Dee!

Iowans could carry one bottle of wine - no beer - if the server reseals it and puts the receipt in a bag. It would have be stowed in the trunk.

That's a lot of work, but I guess I'm just whining.

You Were So Warm?

He doesn't want to get into personally criticizing the rich phonies, like himself, who have a bigger carbon footprint in one year than you and I have in a lifetime.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

However, Al Gore equates you to a racist and homophobe if you don't believe him on Greenhouse Effect, err Global Warming, err Climate Change.

When I mentioned this to my wife, Chris chided Gore as a hypocrite.

I said I thought hypocrite wasn't a strong enough word for someone who has privately jetted around the world.

Someone who leaves a Lincoln Town Car idling, with the air conditioning on, for 20 minutes, so Tipper and his daughter Karenna are cool.

Someone who, in one home, used enough electricity in one year that would have powered 232 homes for a month.

Someone who, sold his Current TV Network to Al Jazeera, which is funded by the Qatari government, for $500 Million.

Chris suggested HYPERcrite and I thought that was closer to the truth.
Gore has previously stated that the science is settled on global warming and that 97 to 98 percent of the worlds’ scientists attest to its veracity

It must be unsettling to find that scientists are 95 per cent sure that humans are to blame for climate change

Gore also stated, The hurricane scale used to be 1-5 and now they’re adding a 6.

BUZZ--WRONG!

According to Chris Vaccaro, director of the National Weather Service’s office of public affairs --

No, we’re not pursuing any such change. But with his penchant for overstatement, Gore will continue to be a divisive and less than credible voice in climate change discourse.

Because Gore is okay with fudging the facts --

"Nobody is interested in solutions if they don't think there's a problem. Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an overrepresentation of factual presentations on how dangerous it is..."

Some of those 90+ percent of scientists must be confused by facts as to whether the planet is warming or cooling.

On one hand we're told, the Earth steadily continued to heat up, but in the same article we're advised that cloud-dwelling pollutants block the sun's heat, keeping the surface temperature of the Earth from rising.

What difference does it make anyway, NBC tells us that even if we stop producing carbon emissions now, climate change will persist for hundreds of years.

If that's the case, it's past time to start worrying about stopping climate change and change the focus to Improvise, Adapt and Overcome.

Hi Hi Hi

The Ragister is reporting video from Seth Rogen's recent testimony before a Senate subcommittee, chaired by CommieTommie Harkin, is the second most viewed on C-SPAN.

Afterwards, Rogen was asked which politician he’d most like to get high with and Rogen responded -- That Harkin guy seemed pretty cool. I’d go with him.

CowaBONGa Dude and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Strange since Rogen had earlier noted, about Harkin, I don’t know if you know who I am at all and you told me you have never seen ‘Knocked Up,’ Mr. Chairman. It’s a little insulting.

Say Seth, that's because you decided to have the baby in the movie.

If, instead, you'd have decided to have an abortion, not only would Harkin have seen it, he'd have probably helped get government funding for the film.

There could be HELL to pay

First off the date is 6-6-06, so it's stretching it just a tad to think of it as 666. They're enjoying it in Michigan where the town of HELL is giving all visitors a letter showing they celebrated June 6, 2006 in Hell. They're also selling one square inch of the town for $6.66. Now that's a real Devil may care attitude! According to USA Today, 30 year mortgage rates are at 6.66%, helping to cool off a housing market that had been hotter than hell. I remember one winter day having someone tell me it was colder than hell, I remarked that if you thought about it every day was colder than hell. I wasn't going to comment on the numerology involved, but in the words of the late Flip Wilson's Geraldine..."The Devil made me do it".

Part of the judging criteria was...Movies that inspire with characters of vision and conviction who face adversity and often make a personal sacrifice for the greater good. Whether these movies end happily or not, they are ultimately triumphant--both filling audiences with hope and empowering them with the spirit of human potential.

That's why I can't understand some of the films listed.
#6 ET? Not only was the movie crap, ET looked like crap to me too.
#16 NORMA RAE? Sally Fields is annoying. She's really, really annoying.
#17 ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST? I liked it, but inspiring?
#34 ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN? It wouldn't be Hollyweird if we didn't bash Republicans.
#45 ON GOLDEN POND? see #17.
#47 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY? WHAT?
#58 CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND? Hollyweird loves Spielberg.
#59 DANCES WITH WOLVES? I was rooting for the wolves.
#78 THELMA & LOUISE? Now I want to go off a cliff.
#80 BABE? It's Bacon! It's a cartoon!
#89 HAROLD AND MAUDE? That just gives me the heeby jeebies.
#99 RAY? I love Ray Charles' music, but it was a bad movie and Ray was real life scum.

I think FIELD OF DREAMS should have been higher than #28, I also believe it deserved the Oscar for Best Picture over DRIVING MISS DAISY. I still cry thinking, "Dad, do you wanna have a catch?". If you want to talk inspiring, the movie came out in 1989 and people still come to a field near Dyersville, Iowa because that movie touched them. Can that be said about any other movie on this list? I'm not talking playing dress up like STAR WARS either, sorry Pruisner! When Chris and I were there, a few years ago, there was a group all the way from JAPAN!
