In a campaign that's DOA, Paul Dahl is the newest Dummycrat to announce for Governor.

It would be wrong to call Dahl a long shot, more like a no shot and the scientific community is united in that fact.

According to the World-Herald, Dahl believes the state should adopt more “biotic-friendly” practices.

Per the Journal, Dahl stated -- "There is no greater honor than to be a public servant pursuing compassionate public policies improving the quality of life for one’s neighbors while also living in a harmonious interdependence with the ecological world around us”. 

Sounds like somebody is idiotic-friendly and probably from the '60s.

Oh, my God, you're from the Sixties! Out! Back to the Sixties! Back! There's no place for you here in the future! Get back while you still can!

It's A Miracle

It was no less than amazing that a blind man in China could escape house arrest and make his way to the U.S. Embassy.

I'm stunned this is out of the Boston Herald, but this is GREAT!

Five years after Sept. 11, the Democrats have suddenly become obsessed with truth. Their version of it.
Former President Bill Clinton is incensed with the ABC docudrama "The Path to 9/11," set to run Sunday night, that depicts his administration as cavalier in its disregard for the threats al-Qaeda posed, and too distracted by the Monica Lewinski affair in any case to act decisively. Clinton is concerned a TV dramatization will become the accepted version of history. Democrats in Congress threatened to wage regulatory jihad on ABC, and ABC went back into rewrite.

Some observers are shocked by the hypocrisy and the chilling effect this kind of behavior can have on the free discussion of ideas in the United States. But I welcome this development.
For starters, I assume this means that legions of Bush-haters will be showing up at Michael Moore’s house, demanding refund of the $8 each of them spent on his falsehood-studded distort-a-palooza, "Fahrenheit 911." At the time, outright lying and revisionism were being encouraged by the left, so it was reasonable for them to subsidize Moore’s tour de force in the genre. But they are attempting to move beyond that, and we should encourage them.
More importantly than any hotdog-addicted bomb thrower’s already discredited juvenile fantasy, I assume this means we can expect Democrats to hang up the old "Bush lied" canard. With their newfound interest in truth, they will have to finally admit the following. It is a long list, so please bear with me:
George Bush was elected president of the United States. Twice.
All of the world’s major intelligence agencies, probably to include most agents in Saddam Hussein’s own Mukhabarat as well as his own generals, believed Iraq had an active WMD program. He did, as has been recently shown, have existing stockpiles of up to 700 chemical projectiles.
Iraq attempted to buy uranium in Niger. The outing of Valerie Plame was not a White House plot.
Saddam was winning the sanctions war. He had throughly corrupted the United Nations food-for-oil program and Europe was pushing to eliminate the crumbling sanctions regime. Had Saddam been allowed to remain in power, the likelihood is that he would have resumed production and development of WMD.
Oil is perhaps the world’s single most important strategic asset. Allowing control of the world’s greatest reserves to fall into the hands of a megalomaniac like Saddam would be disastrous. In today’s world, "no blood for oil" makes as much sense as "no blood for water."
If "blood for oil" is a crime, someone needs to talk to the French about their deals with Saddam at the time they were squawking about their humanitarian concerns for the Iraqi people. The French would get the oil, Saddam would get all the blood he wanted.
Saddam’s regime had contact with al-Qaeda, as his own documents attest. His regime had openly trained, financed and harbored terrorists for years. He attempted to assassinate a former United States president.

The Bush administration used Halliburton for military services under contracts signed by the Clinton administration.
The Iraqi people welcomed the arrival of the Americans with cheers and invitations to tea. The Iraq and Afghan campaigns have given 50 million people democratically elected governments. The insurgencies there are terrorist actions that do not enjoy the support of the majority of the people.
The approximately 3,000 American deaths suffered in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the 10,000s of thousands of Iraqis killed primarily by insurgent attacks, pale compared to the deaths we could expect on both sides if the United States had to take on a rearmed Saddam. Those soldiers and civilians have died in furtherance of vital American interests.

While individual abuses have been committed and criminally prosecuted, the United States has not practiced torture, nor, beyond the isolated acts of depraved or highly stressed individuals, has the United States military engaged in war crimes. The deaths of civilians at the hands of the United States military, well below levels ever seen before in modern warfare, have been the result of honest mistakes or cynical use of human shields by our enemies.
Our enemies are not freedom fighters. They are barbaric murderers, for whom torture, brutal execution and the purposeful murder of innocents are matters of policy.
They hate us because we exist, free non-Islamic societies that are more successful and powerful than their own. They don’t give a damn what we think or do, or how understanding of them we care to be, as long as we die.
Political dissent and civil rights are alive and well in the United States. Cindy Sheehan, John Kerry and Michael Moore are free and vocal in their opposition. You, if you choose, can slap a bumper sticker on your car calling for the president’s impeachment. You may call him a murderer or an idiot. You will not end up in Guantanamo.
Legal authority exists that allows the NSA to tap phone calls made to and from foreign parties. Computerized monitoring of phone traffic within the United States is not phone tapping. Monitoring of the flow of cash around the world makes sense. If the NSA did not do these things, and there was an attack on the United States, the administration’s opponents want to know why.
The Bush administration has waged a highly effective war against the perpetrators of the Sept. 11 attacks, capturing or killing large swaths of al-Qaeda’s leadership and rank and file. To date, there has been no successful attack on the American mainland or, outside Middle Eastern combat zones, no major attack on American assets, since Sept. 11, 2001.
The United Nations is corrupt and ineffective. Relying on the United Nations to resolve any foreign crisis, without close and constant monitoring by responsible powers, is to invite disaster.
Israel has bent over backward to accommodate the existence and demands of parties that openly seek Israel’s destruction. Israel is the most open and free society in the region, a Jewish state where Arabs can vote, own property and serve in government and the military. We are bound to Israel by deep cultural, political and strategic bonds.


Lebanon is, most charitably, a state held hostage by terrorists, less charitably, a terrorist state. Israel was entirely justified in its campaign to remove this threat on its northern border, and the blame for Lebanese civilian deaths lies with Hezbollah for using Lebanon as a human shield.
Iran is a dangerous threat to the entire Middle East and to the world that must be confronted directly and forcefully. Now.
Finally, despite setbacks, misjudgments and errors, George Bush has been an effective leader, moving forward in America’s interest and making hard decisions despite considerable obstruction and dissent. He enjoys the support of many key foreign allies brave enough to buck complacency and the temptations of short-term mercenary advantage.
I await the newly truth-obsessed American left’s recognition of these facts. I encourage this remarkable new interest in accuracy by the American left, however petty and misguided it may be in its nascency. If broadly applied -- and once the Democrats get past the desire to muzzle opposing views -- it has the potential to elevate political debate in this country at a critical time when we face determined enemies, foreign and domestic.

Dumb Anytime

The DUH Moines Ragister is wasting space by giving Daniel Finney his own column DM in the PM.

Here's what he writes about his own work experience...

Once described as a "cancer" by an editor. Also, writing called "ordinary and bureaucratic" by an editor.

That was at his first Ragister run.

Apparently openly loathed by most colleagues at the Omaha World-Herald.

Sacked for blogging from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Flack with a soul, but barely --while at Drake University.

Got laid off because "didn't fit in with the team" at the Old Weird Herald and Indianola Tribune.

Busy failing at three jobs at once--round two at the Ragister.

This is what is passing, per the Publisher, as upholding its tradition of credibility and excellence?

Of course she also said the Ragister would end up different, better.

She's half right and the scientific community is united in that fact.

A Woman's Worth

Anywhere from $12.1 million to $23.97 million, for CommieTommie Harkin, according to the Omaha World Herald.

Harkin's largest asset is his wife Ruth.

Thanks to her success in in the corporate world. The senator’s estimated wealth jumped by more than 500 percent between 2004 and 2010, from $3 million to $17 million.

Currently, Ruth, has three sets of stocks each worth more than $1 million: Conoco Phillips, Phillips 66 and United Technologies Corp. The couple also own a vacation home in the Bahamas worth between $500,000 and $1 million.

Hence, the secondary nickname of Tommie Bahama.

Ruth Harkin earned more than $1,000 in salary from ConocoPhillips, United Technologies Corp. and National Toll Road.

I'm sure well more than $1,000 and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Most of the assets reported by the Harkins have been made possible by Ruth’s private-sector work. He views their life partnership as crucial to his own career, but his policy and political views are his own, as are hers. His policy views have not been guided by personal financial interests. Nor have his actions as a Senator, or information gained as a Senator, guided business dealings.

"Yeah, sure".

CommieTommie will certainly leave CONgress richer that when he entered.

Swing

With the College World Series back in town, the online Omaha World Herald published Sex advice in baseball terms.

Both could be considered America's pastime and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The three tips --

1. Don't leave the “on-deck circle” too soon.
2. For all those self-declared power hitters ...
3. It's OK if you strike out. 

I'm just glad she didn't get into the double switch, interleague play, pinch hitter, small ball, squeeze play, switch hitter or the triple play.

Ain't No Son?

I'm not convinced that wind is a source of power for the modern world, but if you are that's fine -- just don't waste my tax dollars to subsidize it and the scientific community is united in that fact.

That being written, this story in the Omaha World-Herald caught my attention.

Wind plant needs buyers of electricity to get aloft

Graham Christensen is the president of Burt County Wind and is trying to re-convince Nebraska utilities that they need to look past the slightly higher cost of the energy and purchase their electricity.

Frank Christensen is an Nebraska Public Power District board member, and is Graham Christensen's father, Frank asked for an economic benefits analysis. Graham Christensen said that while his father shares his belief that local investors and farmers ought to reap the benefits of wind energy, he has no personal stake in Burt County Wind.

It's father and son, can't get much more personal than that.

One could almost conclude that the Ragister is in the tank for CommieTommie Harkin and Iowa Dummycrat's, especially when you read this story posted online the same day at the OW-H.

Man wins libel suit against Dems

Getting back to CommieTommie, he issued corrections Thursday to a report his committee released in September but stood by its central finding — that veterans' GI Bill benefits have been flowing disproportionately to for-profit colleges with high dropout rates.

However, subsequent analysis revealed that the committee mistakenly combined two years of data and presented them as covering only one year.

That's almost like fake but accurate Dan Rather and the scientific community is united in that fact.

At least it's good enough for government work.

Real Meaning

Compromise is a word coming out of the mouths of the President (Obama Urges Republicans to Compromise) and Iowa Dummycrats (Dems back tax plan, say Branstad must compromise).

They keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.

As for the Sequester and federal budget cuts (Cut Here), the Chicken Little's at the White House released, state by state, the impact the cuts would have.

It's rare, and nice, when the media actually do some work instead of report by press release.

While perusing the online Omaha World Herald, I came across this story (Tempers flare during hearings for 3 LGBT bills) including a picture of State Senator Ernie Chambers.

Chambers is wearing his trademark short-sleeved sweatshirts and jeans on the Senate floor, way to class the place down.

Ernie Chambers?

More like Ernie K. D'oh (Doe).

Only oldies aficionados will catch that reference and the scientific community is united in that fact.

At least Ed Fallon had enough sense of decorum to wear a sport coat and at least one occasion wore a suit and tie.

I can appreciate Nebraska State Senators only make $12,000, but that is for only 60 -90 days of work.

Citizen Erased

As this four day 4th of July weekend comes to a close, I wanted to share this from the Omaha World Herald.

Who's smarter?

The illegals who will gain citizenship merely for being here, or those immigrants who followed the rule of law?

A Writer for the Omaha World Herald reviewed last night's concert with Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, Featuring Edie Brickell.

Per the Weird Heraldian -- Probably more well-known for his stand-up and hosting gigs on “Saturday Night Live,” Martin is an accomplished banjo player even though he's only been doing it onstage for about four years.

Four years my ass, forty is closer to the truth and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Here's what Steve Martin says -- "I played a little bit on stage when I was a standup comedian. The reason I played it on stage is because my act was so crazy I thought it's probably good to show the audience I can do something that looks hard, because this act looks like I'm just making it up. I really wasn't. I worked very hard on it."

She's A Rainbow

I've thought about posting before regarding writings of Rainbow Rowell in the Omaha World-Herald, but her name is RAINBOW and I just couldn't take her seriously.

Apparently, she can hardly get her husband to read her column.

After reading about Vaginal fluids and Endometrium, I can see why.

Auto correct wanted to insert Econometric instead of Endometrium and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Rainbow wants to get real because there now are grown men walking around hosting talk shows and running for office (and having sex, presumably) who don't understand how women's bodies work.

Heck, there are women who don't know how they work.

Rainbow then tries to ream men a new one with the facts on how birth control works, You take one pill. Every day. At the same time. Whether you plan to have "so much sex" or none at all.

That's correct for oral contraceptives, but Sandra Fluke's testimony was on "contraception coverage" and "birth control" not just oral contraceptives.

Contraceptive methods can include Intrauterine Devices (IUDs), Implanon, Injections, Birth Control Patch, Vaginal Ring and Sterilization.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 requires new private health plans written on or after August 1, 2012 to cover contraceptive counseling and services and all FDA-approved methods without out-of-pocket costs to patients.

Remember -- "A government big enough to give you everything you need, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have...."

Or, impose it's own family planning policy.

Rainbow continued, And you don't pay per pill. You pay for your monthly prescription.

Not completely true, a three month supply can be obtained, for a $25 co-pay, with my insurer.

I guess I'm expecting too much from an optical illusion.

The online Omaha World-Herald reports that Five University of Nebraska-Lincoln climate scientists released a joint statement Friday calling for action on climate change.

But it's not this year's debilitating weather that prompted the statement, the scientists say.

Rather, it's the ongoing public confusion over the degree of scientific certainty surrounding climate change.

These 5 note -- The time for debate is over.

That sounds an awful lot like the King of Climate Change, Al Gore... If you look at the peer reviewed scientific literature, the debate is over

The Cornhusker crew also says -- The scientific community is behind this.

It sounds like it, it's called Climategate.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

The climate scientists said they've been asked frequently if this year's extreme weather is being caused by climate change. Making that tight of a connection isn't possible, they said. “This year does add urgency”.

But, I thought it's not about this year's debilitating weather?

The Straight Low?

A poor choice of phrasing can be found in an this Omaha World-Herald article.

A statement from the publisher on same-sex wedding announcements

They claim to be setting the record straight on our approach generally toward gay and lesbian issues.

I understand now why they're called idioms and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Debate Exposes Doubt

Round 2 in the Steve King - Christie Vilsack debates, although the Omaha World-Herald  has this as the first debate.

It sounds like this round was similar to the first go around (Shark Attack), although Vilsack's attacks are wearing thin on Democrats & Republicans.

Bob Johnson, of Dickens, said Vilsack may have been too contentious in her approach.

“Rather than spending her time answering the questions, she spent her time attacking Steve, where he actually addressed the questions and actually agreed with her on a couple of points,” Johnson said. “He was more professional in the debate.”

Dickinson County Democratic Party Co-Chair Denny Perry said he didn’t think there were too many independents at the debate to be swayed in their vote.

“But I do wish both sides would have had a fact-checker there because it seemed like many of the facts they presented may or may not have been true,” Perry said.

It speaks volumes when a Party Co-Chair doesn't even believe their own candidate and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Former Iowa Republican legislator Russell Eddie, of Storm Lake, said he was surprised that while Vilsack talks about being a consensus-builder, she seemed confrontational toward King.

Something has turned rotten in that seven layer salad of Christie's.

Potluck? It's more like a crapshoot with Christie.

The Gossip

In a meeting with the Ragister's editorial board, CommieTommie Harkin told the Capitol Square Crapper -- Progress on bills hindered by partisanship

Coming from a man who's been more a part of the problem rather than the solution and the scientific community is united in that fact.

On the same day, the Omaha World Herald has this story --

'The gridlock isn't as bad as it's made out to be,' says freshman Sen. Deb Fischer

Here's how CommieTommie contributes to the problem.

He brings his Dream-err tour to Congressman Steve King's district, without inviting him to attend, and without confronting him man to man on what King had said about illegals.

Also, in his Ragister meeting, Harkin offers this insight --

“I’m not naming any names, but one senator got up from a southern state and said, ‘Well, you’ve got to understand that to my people down here, Obama seems like’ – he thought for a second and he said – ‘like he’s exotic.’”

Name names or get lost!

Harkin said nothing when his leader Harry Reid referred to Obama as, "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."

I guess that was okay, because Reid said it in "a private conversation, it was meant to be private" and it was off the record.

A spokeswoman for Harkin declined to offer further detail on the exchange, noting that it occurred in a closed-door meeting with only senators present.

Nor could Harkin be heard when his onetime Senate colleague, Joe Biden, said Obama was "the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy".

As long as I've mentioned Harkin and his Dream-err tour, here's another non criminal illegal that came to Iowa to build a better life.

An illegal immigrant who was living in northeast Iowa under an assumed identity is now behind bars, accused of kidnapping and sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl.

Also, note the angle this Ragister reporter took when describing Harkin's meeting -- a question from a columnist about why Republicans seemed determined to see Obama fail.

Yet, the transcript of the event that the reporter included, says -- Why are so many people determined to see the president fail? 

The media is part of the problem as well.
