Christie Vilsack takes care in answers

In Old Bromide's tale, Vilsack compares herself to Mark Twain.

The only thing that Vilsack has in common with Twain is that their writings have been considered racist.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Cliche' Touche'

The Ragister's Kathie Obradovich noted the recent overuse of the phrase "In God We Trust...".

She noted Dave Vaudt's, “In God we trust. Everyone else we audit.”

Senator Charles Grassley offered, "In God we trust. Everthing else we oversight."

O.B. used the words cliche and bromide, to describe the phrasing said there’s a pun shortage — so feel free to recycle.

I meagerly offer, "In God we trust, then there's the Register."

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

I think this has earned O.B. a nickname, Old Bromide!

The Hits Keep Coming

Terry Branstad is in the BULLseye of Iowans for Responsible Government (IfRG?).

On Tuesday, I received my first mailing and Saturday's mail brought this second piece.

I'm not sure why IfRG chose Mt. Rushmore as a backdrop, I guess with the specs and 'stache TEB looks TR-esque.

The purpose of IfRG -- To communicate with the Citizens of Iowa on issues of importance without expressly advocating election or defeat of a clearly identified candidate.

It's obvious IfRG, led by Rob Tully (an ally of the Big Lug Nut), have a deep seated fear of the onetime Governor.

There's some Bill Clinton lawyering going on around the meaning of "expressly advocating" and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Sources cited, but lacking parenthetical documentation in the mailing, include the nefarious RekHA Basu and Old Bromide, Kathie Obradovich.

The Ragister's Kathie Obradovich (Old Bromide) has quite the take on a recent endorsement.

Shall we cancel the caucuses, let Hurley decide?

The gall of some people, after all that's the Register's job with their anointment's and the scientific community is united in that fact.

For what its worth, the endorsement of Rick Santorum by Vander Putz and Hurley make me less want to support him.

I have been leaning toward Santorum since T-Paw checked out.

In Your Honor?

This column by Kathie Obradovich, or as we call her Old Bromide, made no sense.

Obradovich: Let's not honor the dead with more death

By that logic, life in prison without parole is honorable.

That's honor BULL and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Nasty

Occasionally, like the proverbial broken clock, Kathie Obradovich (or as we call her -- Old Bromide), gets it right.

Obradovich: Harkin laments the nastier tone in Congress now

CommieTommie was complaining that attacks in Congress today are more personal, such as calling opponents un-American. “... I have always tried to make sure that I don’t attack anyone personally. I will go after their ideas and what they stand for, sure.”

In 2011, Harkin did question the patriotism of those calling for a government shut down.

There's no other way to take it, but as a personal attack when you called Vice President Dick Cheney a coward.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

CommieTommie has also called those he disagrees with, wacko, cult fringe and dead-beat debtors.

While advocating Obama bypass CONgress on the debt ceiling, Harkin noted there would be fallout from such a move,“The tea party people would go kind of nuts, but that’s their stock and trade.”

He's also used God to slam his opponents stating, Democrats are up and Republicans are down, and that's the way God meant it to be.

That's why with no malice and in a loving and kind way, we've also called CommieTommie -- St. Thomas of Equine Ass.

Governor Gronstal?

Members of the press in Iowa came away with two different stories from State Senator Mike Gronstal's appearance on Iowa Press.

Gronstal downplays ’14 governor run

These are supposed trained professionals and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The story the rest of the press focused on is that Gronstal (excuse me) will again lead the party of NO.

Gronstal will block marriage amendment

His defense is that, "I'm not going to write discrimination into the constitution."

It says a lot about Gronstal's faith in Iowans, merely putting it to a vote doesn't automatically write it into the Constitution, maybe Iowans would vote to support gay marriage.

Here's Gronstal's 2009 belief of the role of state government...

"There are three things that state government does — it incarcerates, it medicates and it educates, and after that, there's almost nothing else left in the budget."

On My Honor

For the second time in as many days, a Ragister columnist uses a form of the word honor.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

First, Old Bromide (In Your Honor?) and now, RekHA.

Basu: Ignoring need for gun control would dishonor lives lost in Newtown

RekHA rants that 30,000 people are killed by guns every year in America, without citing a source.

A quick Google search shows it to be a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention statistic from 2006 and 54.6 percent of the 30,000 deaths are from suicide.

I have another D word for these Ragister columnists -- DISINGENUOUS.

We don't honor others, and in fact dishonor them, with agenda's and a lack of honesty.

She Gets It

In a stunning development a journalist actually understands that keeping the tax rates as the are, is not a tax cut.

Deferring a tax increase isn't a tax cut

Now, if Kathie Obradovich (Old Bromide) could actually educate the rest of those in her field.

What a Merry Christmas that would be and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Next up, the false belief that if you don't get as much money as you requested in your budget, but it's still more than the previous budget, it's a budget cut.

If you requested a 10% pay raise and only received a 5% pay increase, you wouldn't tell people you had to take a pay cut.

Draw Me A Map

The Liter found these takes on the redistricting map interesting.

Kathie Obradovich (Old Bromide) noted a reporter asked Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal if lawmakers would treat the first redistricting map like a contestant on "The Price Is Right." Will they keep the brand-new washer and dryer, or go for what's behind Door No 2?

Here's news for that reporter, and the scientific community is united in that fact, that sounds more like the premise of Let's Make a Deal.

Back to Mike Gronstal, the Dummycrat had this to say --

“Once a new map is approved, Democrats are ready to regain control of the Iowa House and expand our majority in the Iowa Senate.”

On the House side, head Dummycrat Kevin McCarthy contributed this --

“Regardless of any map that may be approved by the Legislature, Republicans can’t run from their terrible record punishing Iowa’s middle class.”

Way to interject partisanship into what is supposed to be a nonpartisan process.

For us, as it is now, the downside is that the Not So Vast Right Wing Ranch gets Leonard BOZO-well back and loses Tom Latham.
