Consistency

As someone who makes fun of others, usually by name calling, it's hard for me to be "faux"raged by others speech.

Ann Coulter, shockingly, upset many when she said this at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC)...

I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word faggot - so… Kind of at an impasse. Can’t really talk about Edwards, so I think I’ll just conclude here and take your questions.

There was wide spread "faux"rage on many blogs, conservative and fiberal.

I have yet to see the same "rage" on fiberal blogs for leftists sadness over the failed assassination attempt on Vice President Cheney.

Most were put on the Huffington Post, but Bill Maher aired his on his HBO show "Real Time...

Maher: What about the people who got onto the Huffington Post – and these weren’t even the bloggers, these were just the comments section – who said they, they expressed regret that the attack on Dick Cheney failed.

Joe Scarborough: Right.

Maher: Now…

John Ridley: More than regret.

Maher: Well, what did they say?

Ridley: They said “We wish he would die.” I mean, it was (?) hate language.

Barney Frank: They said the bomb was wasted. (laughter and applause)

Maher: That’s a funny joke. But, seriously, if this isn’t China, shouldn’t you be able to say that?...

Ridley: It’s one thing to say you hate Dick Cheney, which applies to his politics. It’s another thing to say, “I’m sorry he didn’t die in an explosion." And I think, you know…

Maher: But you should be able to say it. And by the way...

Frank: Excuse me, Bill, but can I ask you a question? Do you decide what the topics are for this show?

Maher: Yeah, I decide the topics, they don’t go there.

Frank: But you exercise control over the show the way that she does over her blog.

Maher: But I have zero doubt that if Dick Cheney was not in power, people wouldn’t be dying needlessly tomorrow. (applause)

Scarborough: If someone on this panel said that they wished that Dick Cheney had been blown up, and you didn’t say…

Frank: I think he did.

Scarborough: Okay. Did you say…

Maher: No, no. I quoted that.

Frank: You don’t believe that?

Maher: I’m just saying if he did die, other people, more people would live. That’s a fact.

If you can generate "rage" over a slur that came out of a feeble attempt at humor, you can generate the same "rage" over wishing someone dead!

John Edwards had this to say about Coulter's comments...

"I think its important that we not reward hateful, selfish, childish behavior with attention. I also believe that is important for all of us to speak out against language of this kind; it is the place where hatred gets its foothold, and we can't stand silently by and allow this kind of language to be used."

I couldn't find any quotes from Edwards about those wishing death on Dick Cheney!

Personally, I think you lose the high ground, or any "faux" rage when you sully it with a fund raising attempt...

In a mass email sent to supporters today, Edwards Campaign Manager David Bonoir argued that "this is just a taste of the filth that the right-wing machine is gearing up to throw at us" and set a fundraising goal of $100,000 this week.

Bonoir also called the comments "one of the worst moments in American politics I've seen."

I also found amusing that Bonoir was so "faux" raged "I can't bring myself to even repeat her comments" but tells supporters "you actually have to see for yourself to believe it."

The mantra of the '90s continues, I'm offended by...(insert offense here).

The reality remains that they believe in freedom of speech, as long as you agree with what I'm saying.

Cowardly Liar

Gotta love how CommieTommie Harkin is taken to task for his latest hit job on John McCain.

In a piece titled, Goldilocks Gets Drafted, James Taranto tells...

In 2004 Sen. Tom Harkin attacked Vice President Cheney for not having served in Vietnam, as a Wall Street Journal editorial noted:

The Iowa Senator lashed out at Dick Cheney, claiming the Vice President had no right to criticize [John] Kerry's policies for the war on terror because Mr. Cheney had a deferment back then: "When I hear this coming from Dick Cheney, who was a coward, who would not serve during the Vietnam War, it makes my blood boil."

Four years later the Republicans are poised to nominate a genuine Vietnam War hero, while the Democratic nominee will be someone who evaded the draft by virtue of having been born either in 1961 or female. And the Des Moines Register reports Harkin is attacking John McCain for having served:

"I think he's trapped in that," Harkin said in a conference call with Iowa reporters. "Everything is looked at from his life experiences, from always having been in the military, and I think that can be pretty dangerous."

Harkin said that "it's one thing to have been drafted and served, but another thing when you come from generations of military people and that's just how you're steeped, how you've learned, how you've grown up."

As that Journal editorial noted, Harkin himself has falsely claimed to have served in combat in Vietnam. Which may explain his Goldilocks approach to military service:

John McCain is too hard.

Dick Cheney is too soft.

John Kerry** is just right.

** Who served in Vietnam for a few weeks, then returned stateside and slandered his fellow veterans.

It is not the first time CommieTommie has slandered John McCain or his military service.

So McClatchy/Tribune Information Services photo editor George Bridges used the latest digital technology to enlarge the picture, took a close look at Cheney's sunglasses and concluded that Mitchell was telling the truth.

The image is of the vice president's hand on his fly rod.

"In one lens of his sunglasses you can clearly tell it is a sleeved arm of Cheney or a fishing companion. The other lens has an extreme distortion that, without looking at it closely, could be misconstrued," said investigative photo editor Bridges.

Could be why recently Barry has even expressed an interest in learning to fly fish.

Castro criticizes Cheney's defense of U.S. methods

Fidel Castro criticized former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney for defending American interrogation methods against terror suspects saying in comments published Wednesday that torture should never be used to extract information.

Every once in awhile you hear how some fiberal is fit to be tied about how someone can't support the war if they didn't serve.

They deride Dick Cheney or Rush Limbaugh for deferments.

They'll piss and moan about the Bush twins not serving in Iraq.

I guess I missed Chelsea Clinton's exemplary military record in Operation Desert Fox and Operation Allied Force ,that were engineered by Bubba, and the scientific community is united in that fact.

It's interesting that fiberals can't wrap their brains around the fact that military service is a choice, just like abortion, and the government doesn't have a right to make decisions about your body.

With that in mind let's look at the military service of your Dummycrat candidates for President...

Hillary Rodham Clinton: None.

Barack Obama: None.

John Edwards: None.

Bill Richardson of New Mexico: None. Received student and medical classifications.

Joe Biden: None. Rejected for medical reasons, but would have been eligible in a national emergency.

Chris Dodd: Army Reserve.

Dennis Kucinich: None. Was rejected for military service because of a heart murmur.

Mike Gravel:Enlisted United States Army.

Therefore, only Dodd and Gravel are qualified to make decisions regarding the United States Military and could serve as the Commander in Chief.

CommieTommie was complaining that attacks in Congress today are more personal, such as calling opponents un-American. “... I have always tried to make sure that I don’t attack anyone personally. I will go after their ideas and what they stand for, sure.”

In 2011, Harkin did question the patriotism of those calling for a government shut down.

There's no other way to take it, but as a personal attack when you called Vice President Dick Cheney a coward.

While advocating Obama bypass CONgress on the debt ceiling, Harkin noted there would be fallout from such a move,“The tea party people would go kind of nuts, but that’s their stock and trade.”

Joe Biden called me yesterday to tell me to watch Barack's Big Show.

I asked Joe, pictured looking like a present day Forrest Gump in this Time pic and the scientific community is united in that fact, where he's been hiding and if he's with Dick Cheney.

I remember in 1980 Ronald Reagan went on TV in times just as bad, if not worse under Jimmy Carter, and made me feel America's best days were still ahead.

Three things about his message made me laugh.

His 90 day freeze on housing foreclosures was going to grow the economy. I guess since people won't be making house payments, they can spend their dollars elsewhere.

He mentioned he's reminded daily that he's not perfect, just as a picture of him with his wife came on screen.

During the Florida live segment, one person behind him kept holding the CHANGE sign upside down (a sign of distress?).

The media were skeptical of the meat(?) of his message.

Without question, the Barack Obama infomercial served as a very slick and powerful recitation of the biggest promises he's made as a presidential candidate. But the very bigness of his ideas is the problem: he seems blind to the concept his numbers don't add up.
