Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)

Some Bob Vander Plaats supporters, (Steve Douche, err Deace) enjoyed making fun of Terry Branstad's short bus.

With his defeat for the Lieutenant Governor's nomination, at the Iowa Republican Party convention, it's clear that Vander Plaats is the slow learner and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Vander Plaats, who this spring said --
"I won't need to come back three; four; or even five times to get the job done", is now 0-4 when actually on the ballot.

I'm sure zero for five will be on the way with an ego driven independent bid.

I'd liken him to Harold Stassen, but that would be an insult to Stassen -- because Stassen was actually elected Governor.

Vander Plaats has referred to the "people's voice" in his quest, but he keeps ignoring the voice of the majority of people who have consistently rejected him, instead BVP focuses on the voice in his head.

Vander Plaats actually had the audacity to claim one of his objectives was to unite the Republican Party.

This is why I call him Bob Vander PUTZ!

Take Me To Your Leader?

The FAMiLY LEADER Presidential Lecture Series, with our friend Cal (Freedom's Pal) to see Herman Cain.

It's expected an Italian boy, and one married to an Italian, seek counsel of The Godfather.

Both of us were eager, I even changed the lyrics to The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.

Herman Cain is his name...

The night he drove Obama out of town and all the people were singing...

We wanted to like Herman Cain, and we do, but just not for President.

Cain was late for the 1:30 p.m. start, but it was explained he viewed Missouri River flooding on the flight from Sioux Center.

Cain was introduced by Bob Vander Plaats, who doesn't know how to use a microphone thereby showing he is truly a Vander Putz.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

You don't hold it down to your stomach and make sure it's turned on when you use it.

You've been around mics enough to know how they work, if not get training from your buddy Steve Douche, err Deace who was in attendance.

Cain took the stage and paced back and forth throughout his talk.

He told the media cameramen they were going to have to work instead of sitting back to drink coffee (or Koffie in Pella).

Later he questioned if the Ragister's Jennifer Jacobs could keep up, as she typed away on her laptop, telling the audience he could slow it down because he is from the South.

I thought Cain was going to channel Richard Nixon when he spoke of the crises facing the country -- energy crisis, a moral crisis, a foreign policy crisis and a "severe leadership crisis in Washington, D.C."

Cain lost me when he said he'd only allow small bills for legislation, 3 pages, as President.

CONgress, has the say in that as they draft legislation, not the President.

I'm not sure if he was trying to beef up credibility in foreign affairs, but citing a long term socialist country, Chile, for solutions to American issues (Social Security and Flex Fuels) didn't seem right.

I'd have to agree with an attendee to Cain's talk in Iowa City, that the candidate is "dynamic" but "simplistic."

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

In spite of the headline in yesterday's Cedar Rapids Gazette (What A Difference A Day Makes), marriage rallies(?) took place at the Statehouse yesterday.

Dummycrat State Senator Matt McCoy personally attacked Bob Vander Plaats by saying, "The truth needs to be told, Bob Vander Plaats needs to get a real job instead of working to spread a message of hate and discrimination".

I'm no fan of Vander Putz, but a 20 year career politician, who's salary is paid by taxpayers, and is involved in the world's second oldest profession isn't the best one to make that case.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

If the traditional marriage people wanted to be as mean Senator, they could post unflattering pictures and comment about the failure of your traditional marriage.














Finally, when the media covering an event amount to more people than the attendees, it's not a rally.

Bad To The Phone?

Outgoing State Representative Jodi Tymeson called yesterday on behalf of her friend, Bob Vander Plaats.

PHONE, BAD (714) 656-4565 was the listing Caller ID gave, therefore I again let the machine screen.

Tymeson asked me to have my Independent and Dummycrat friends vote for her friend.

That's the only way he can win a Republican primary and the scientific community is united in that fact, as this is his third attempt.

Let it be noted, there's something Bob Vander Plaats and I agree on.

The only thing I can say is what took you so long?

I've espoused it on this blog since 2006 and have practiced it in my 34 years of casting ballots.

Voting no on all judges is some of the best advise my father ever gave me and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Think of it as feedback for their job, or an employee review.

The Cats Meow

My cat Kismet is a talkative, mouthy sort and yesterday was no exception.

It was at that point I decided to rename her Bob Vander Puss.

Just like Bob Vander Putz, she's in no position to make demands, but yet won't shut up and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The gall of some people, after all that's the Register's job with their anointment's and the scientific community is united in that fact.

For what its worth, the endorsement of Rick Santorum by Vander Putz and Hurley make me less want to support him.

I have been leaning toward Santorum since T-Paw checked out.

That's Just Sad

A Straw Poll was recently conducted by The Iowa Republican and WHO Radio's Steve Douche, err Deace.

The Poll's purpose was to state a preference for the Republican nominee for Governor.

It was hyped for over a week by the talk host who has an audience of 250,000 (?) and one of the four best state political blogs.

The results....559 total votes!

That's it?

Underwhelming and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The winner was Bob Vander Plaats.

BVP has received the endorsements of Mike Hucksterbee and Chuck Norris, but couldn't muster enough votes in his previous two attempts for the GOP nomination.

This sucks on so many levels!

Thank God there's time and Dummycrats like the Big Lug Nut, Mike Gronstal and Pat Murphy on the other side.

I received a recorded call from Bob Vander Plaats inviting me to the Indianola Pizza Ranch today.

The irritating part was to see on Caller ID that the call came from (212) 221-1221 in New York.

NEW YORK?

That's unacceptable, to me, for someone who wants to be Governor of Iowa.

It sure does nothing about growing Iowa's economy and a long ways from being the state’s top economic development supporter.

I just can't help but think, If BVP were such a magnanimous Christian he would have run his campaign more like Rod Roberts.

I'll repeat what I wrote when Bob Vander Plaats called this week from New York -- That's unacceptable, to me, for someone who wants to be Governor of Iowa.

That's not going to help spur 200,000 new private sector jobs for Iowans.

Practicing What They Preach?

A group known as The Interfaith Alliance of Iowa went around the state yesterday and spread the love.

The group condemned the "influence of an out-of-state extremist group who is playing havoc with Iowa’s retention election."

That's odd, because the Iowa group is one of 17 affiliates of The Interfaith Alliance based out of Washington D.C. and the scientific community is united in that fact.

I certainly don't recall the same statewide effort and concern regarding the out of state groups that came into Iowa with their lawyers and money to support gay marriage prior to the Iowa Supreme Court's decision, or since.

These enlightened leaders asked, "If someone believes differently than you, should you hate them? Should you fear them?”

They then went on to state “I have a growing fear and unease with the Vander Plaats campaign. I personally fear the impact of this out-of-state group on our voters. I also have a fear that our fair and impartial courts will be maligned by this campaign.”

HUH?

WHAT?

The Sky Is Crying

Showing how arrogant the powers that be are, former Supreme Court justice Mark McCormick made an ass of himself (and the scientific community is united in that fact) at a forum discussing the issue of judicial retention.

McCormick said opponents of retaining the judges have turned “to the mob” rather than the rule of law.

As I've previously opined (The People's Court) it is Iowa Law, specifically section 602.1218 of the Iowa Code, that cites a litany of reasons ending with or any other just and good cause constitutes cause for removal.

McCormick then went pious on the public when he said, “It’s the common tactic of saying the sky is falling when one doesn’t agree with the outcome”, because that is exactly what the proponents of judicial retention are doing with their scare tactics that this vote will change the system and affect court caseloads.

McCormick attacked out of state money for supporting the removal effort, but has been silent on the out of state lawyers and money used to support gay marriage prior to the Iowa Supreme Court's decision, or since.

Another former Supreme Court justice, Robert Allbee, even took a cheap shot when asked whether the retention vote was a referendum on gay marriage, Allbee snarked: “It may just be another referendum on Mr. Vander Plaats. He’s had three already.”

Snark is what I do, not something someone of Albee's station in life should resort to in a public forum.

Vote Branstad?

On the same day that State Auditor Dave Vaudt called me to express his endorsement of Terry Branstad for Governor, this hit piece from Iowans for Responsible Government came in the mail slamming him.

I also received a postcard from TEB thanking me for requesting an absentee ballot and he asked for consideration for the June 8 primary.

Per the Secretary of State's website, my ballot was received by the Auditor yesterday and the scientific community is united in that fact.

I have yet to get mailings from Bob Vander Plaats or Rod Roberts.

Meet & Greet

I ventured down to the capitol city of Warren County, Indianola, for a visit from Republican Lt. Governor candidate Kim Reynolds.

Right away I noticed the Big Lug Nut's "spy" was seated at a table.

The beret was the giveaway, who does he think he is -- John Deeth?

I went over and struck up a conversation, letting him know I'd seen the Jason Clayworth blog post that outed him.

Noting an over abundance of chairs stacked in the back of the room, I told him I doubted he'd have to worry about giving his up his seat this time.

I found out he was originally from Cedar Rapids and I then mentioned my radio stop at The HAWK (KHAK) in 1980.

He let me know that was before he was born -- OUCH!

All in all, he was a very nice, polite young man with a good sense of humor.

I let his boss, Ali Glisson, know (via e-mail) he represents the campaign well.

The event was to begin at 11 a.m. and the small gathering didn't have to wait long as Mrs. Reynolds walked in at 11:01 -- not bad.

She walked around the room and introduced herself to each attendee and then began her talk which was comprised mainly of her personal and professional background.

She opened it up to Questions, so I asked how the Branstad-Reynolds administration would handle department heads who didn't comply with state law (like at DNR), misspent taxpayer money (such as at IABD) or the IDED film office fiasco?

She said she had talked with Governor Branstad and the key was getting good people to run the departments because that reflects back on you.

I asked what would be the first thing the Branstad-Reynolds administration looked to accomplish the day they take office, but before I could finish my question she knew exactly were I was going and mentioned Vilsack's (The Pickle) executive order that restored voting rights to felons.

I told her it was like she read my mind.

After the Q&A was complete, she again greeted people individually and I thanked her for coming.

I found Kim Reynolds to be energetic, enthusiastic, with a passion for Iowa.

She will make an excellent Lt. Governor and the scientific community is united in that fact.

House candidate (District 73) Julian Garret was in attendance and he stopped to talk, mentioning he reads the Liter. Thank you for that and your check is in the mail.

I will say I was disappointed in the attendance size, but the schedule wasn't released until Friday and Warren County went for Vander Putz.

Hate Group?

The Ragister's Jason Clayworth cites the Center for American Progress and the Think Progress blog in a story to demean the effort of Bob Vander Plaats to remove three Iowa Supreme Court justices.

Jason - we get you're here, you're queer and we're used to it - but, don't try to pass this George Soros funded, John Podesta headed organization as nonpartisan in your never ending quest to support gay marriage.

The Center for American Progress (CAP) doesn't even try to pull that fast one themselves.

Especially, considering (in 2005) employees opined the Pentagon is considering creating secret death squads in Iraq.

As for Think Progress (TP), when they THINK it will be PROGRESS and the scientific community is united in that fact, it is an even more liberal offshoot of CAP.

Think Progress has been caught lying about supposed racism in the tea party movement and editing videos in another attempt to discredit the tea party.

It was just me, myself and I as the phone rang a couple of times yesterday.

PHONE, BAD (714) 656-4565 was the listing Caller ID gave for the first call, so I let the answering machine get it.

Bob Vander Plaats was inviting me to West Des Moines on Saturday for an appearance with a "real American hero", Chuck Norris.

Poor choice of telemarketers Bob, and the scientific community is united in that fact.

People have complained of calls, from that number, for a Mexican Health Care Company that is catering to Illegal Aliens here in America.

The other call came from the District of Columbia (202)870-5958 and I knew that had to be a political call, so I once again let the machine do its thing.






It was Councilman Matt Schultz - who is running for Secretary of State - letting me know that he's a "Pro-Life, Gun Totin', Conservative Republican, who hates taxes and believes marriage is between one (Gun Totin'?) man and one (Gun Totin'?) woman".

I think Matt would have been better served to let me know he'd been endorsed by former Secretary of State Paul Pate.
