Under the Weather

I've had a cold and have been achy since Tuesday.

I thought I was getting better, but regressed yesterday.

So I'm under the weather...what the hell does that mean?

Isn't everyone, everyday(unless you're in space), under the weather?

It reminds me of a time, a few years ago, when I walked into a clothing store and heard a salesman say..."It's colder than hell."

It was January and it was cold.

Now I'm no Bible scholar, but I'm thinking isn't everyday colder than hell?

I guess I better brush up on hell because it appears that's where I'm headed for denying "Gore Bull" warming!

Ellen Goodman (her slave name?) opined that...By every measure, the U N 's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change raises the level of alarm. The fact of global warming is "unequivocal."

The certainty of the human role is now somewhere over 90 percent.

Which is about as certain as scientists ever get.

I would like to say we're at a point where global warming is impossible to deny.

Let's just say that global warming deniers are now on a par with Holocaust deniers, though one denies the past and the other denies the present and future.

How the hell do you make that cataclysmic leap?

First, and foremost, that's an insult to those who perished in the Holocaust and those who survived!

The Holocaust is a proven FACT!

"Gore Bull" warming ISN'T!

Where did the 90% figure come from? Out of her ass like the Holocaust statement?

As I stated yesterday, that per IPCC's own findings...man's role is so uncertain that there is a strong possibility that we have been cooling, not warming, the Earth.

That doesn't sound like 90% to me or even unequivocal!

Goodman then divides SCIENCE into Republican and Dummycrats...

There are astonishing gaps between Republican science and Democratic science.

Try these numbers:Only 23 percent of college-educated Republicans believe the warming is due to humans, while 75 percent of college-educated Democrats believe it.

I've been in the college classes with those Dummycrats, they take in every piece of bs that the professor feeds them and never challenge it!

I remember one time, before the prof got to class, one of my classmates asked what I was going to argue with the prof about that day.

I said it depended on whatever bs he was going to try and slide past us.

Another time a prof made an asinine statement and then asked for questions and comments.

I said I didn't agree with his theory and went on to explain my beliefs.

The prof said he didn't agree.

I replied I didn't ask you to agree, you asked for questions and comments.

I just though it important that these kids hear something other than the drivel you're pouring out.

But, I've digressed!

I'll interject an e-mail I received from my brother-in-law-Chris (the rocket scientist).

It comes from an article by James Lewis

Why Global Warming is Probably a Crock

The human-caused global warming hypothesis is completely model-dependent. We can't directly observe cars and cows turning up the earth thermostat. Whatever the human contribution there may be to climate constitutes just a few signals among many hundreds or thousands...

Scientists are always wrong --- they are just less wrong now than they were before (if everything is going well)...

Now there's a basic fact about complexity that helps to understand this. It's a point in probability theory (eek!) about many variables, each one less than 100 percent likely to be true...

Now imagine that all the variables about global climate are known with less than 100 percent certainty. Let's be wildly and unrealistically optimistic and say that climate scientists know each variable to 99 percent certainty! (No such thing, of course). And let's optimistically suppose there are only one-hundred x's, y's, and z's --- all the variables that can change the climate: like the amount of cloud cover over Antarctica, the changing ocean currents in the South Pacific, Mount Helena venting, sun spots, Chinese factories burning more coal every year, evaporation of ocean water (the biggest "greenhouse" gas), the wobbles of earth orbit around the sun, and yes, the multifarious fartings of billions of living creatures on the face of the earth, minus, of course, all the trillions of plants and algae that gobble up all the CO2, nitrogen-containing molecules, and sulfur-smelling exhalations spewed out by all of us animals. Got that? It all goes into our best math model.

So in the best case, the smartest climatologist in the world will know 100 variables, each one to an accuracy of 99 percent. Want to know what the probability of our spiffiest math model would be, if that perfect world existed? Have you ever multiplied (99/100) by itself 100 times? According to the Google calculator it equals a little more than 36.6 percent.

The Bottom line: our best imaginable model has a total probability of one out of three.

That's why human-caused global warming is an hypothesis, not a fact. Anybody who says otherwise isn't doing science, but trying to sell you a bill of goods.

I received his e-mail on February 7 and his conclusion was...

Unfortunately about 90% of the world's population don't study enough math or
science to understand this probability debate.

So that's where the 90% comes from!

The Twelve Days of Global Warming

Sunday sees Winter officially start, the snow at the Not So Vast Right wing Ranch says otherwise (with more to come).

This week the AP reported...

2008 is on pace to be a slightly cooler year in a steadily rising temperature trend line. Experts say it's thanks to a La Nina weather variation. While skeptics are already using it as evidence of some kind of cooling trend, it actually illustrates how fast the world is warming.

WE ARE COLDER BECAUSE OF THE WARMING?

SOME KIND OF COOLING TREND?

There has been no statistically significant rise in (mean global temperature: MGT) since 1995 and MGT has fallen since 1998.

The MGT is the same as it was in 1980.

Scientists Denounce AP For Hysterical Global Warming Article

UN Blowback: More Than 650 International Scientists Dissent Over Man-Made Global Warming Claims

That's an increase of 250 scientists since last year and more than 12 times the number of scientists (52) who authored the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 2007 Summary for Policymakers.

There's growing disunity in the ranks and the scientific community is united in that fact.

I'll leave you with this Minnesotans 4 Global Warming seasonal video...

Baby It's Cold Outside

The U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change is taking place in Poland, where they are working to replace the Kyoto Protocol.

Ironically, the 11,000 registered will release more than 13,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the earth's atmosphere and has the U.N. conceding that its forum will likely contribute to Gore-BULL Warming.

That fits right in with these other hypocrites.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Speaking of the scientific community,
Debra J. Saunders recently wrote...

When the Warmest in History Isn't

When science reporters write about, say, hormone therapy or drinking red wine, they report on studies that find that hormones or red wine can be good for you, as well as studies that suggest otherwise. Any science involving complex organisms is rarely black and white.

...a UC San Diego science historian who reviewed 928 abstracts of peer-reviewed articles on global warming published between 1993 and 2003, and concluded, "Remarkably, none of the papers disagreed with the consensus position."

Over 10 years, not one study challenged the orthodoxy — does that sound right to you? If that were true, it would strongly suggest that, despite conflicting evidence in this wide and changing world, no scientist dares challenge the politically correct position on the issue.

No wonder, David Bellamy — an Australian botanist who was involved in some 400 TV productions, only to see his TV career go south after he questioned global warming orthodoxy — wrote in The Australian last week, "It's not even science anymore; it's anti-science." Bellamy notes that official data show that "in every year since 1998, world temperatures have been getting colder, and in 2002 Arctic ice actually increased." Exhibit B: Richard S. Lindzen, the MIT Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Atmospheric Sciences, recently wrote, "There has been no warming since 1997 and no statistically significant warming since 1995."

...The Global Warming Petition Project urges Washington to reject the Kyoto international global warming pact as there is "no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate." So far, The Politico reports, more than 31,000 scientists have signed it.

I am the God of Hell Fire

and I Bring You FIRE! No, it's not the Crazy World of Arthur Brown. It's this BURN of Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" from Kyle Smith in the New York Post.

GORE'S HOT AIR

FLAKY FLICK SUFFERS FROM 'TRUTH' DECAY

AL GORE'S global-warming documentary, "An Incon venient Truth," is sure to get an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary, but Gore should campaign for Best Actor, too.

Avoiding the usual vein-popping diatribes, he comes across as learned, calm and folksy. But much of what Gore says in this slide show he gives to people whose minds are not yet fully formed (undergraduates, actors) is absurd, and his assertions often contradict each other.

He implies that no reputable scientists dispute anything he says - basically, that the ice caps are melting and people on the 50th floor of the Empire State Building had better learn to swim. But there is wide disagreement about whether humans are causing global warming (climate change preceded the invention of the Escalade) and about whether we should be worried about the trends. Look carefully at Gore's charts and you'll see that the worst horrors take place in the future of his imagination.

His implication that he is our only hope - every ticket bought for this movie amounts to a soft-money contribution to his 2008 campaign - is ridiculous. He and his friends were in charge for eight years. His charts say global warming got worse in that time. The environment doesn't seem to care whether the president is a Texas oilman or the Man from Hope.

Global warming hasn't noticed that we got the lead out of our gasoline or that Stage One smog days in Los Angeles fell from 121 in 1977 to zero in 2004. All regulations and taxes to date have done nothing. Does this hint that pollution isn't the cause?

Gore claims, with pie-chart-in-the-sky dreaminess, that unspecified measures can reduce emissions to 1970 levels. He assesses the tradeoff between the economy and the environment with the kind of buffoonery you'd expect in a Marxist comic book, displaying a cartoon of a scale with Earth on one side and bars of gold on the other. "OK, on one side we have gold bars," he says. "Mmm, mmm, don't they look good!"

Why doesn't he get specific and replace the "gold bar" side of the scale with, say, a $50,000 tax on SUVs? The ensuing destruction of the car business would hurt blue-collar workers, not the rich. What if global warming continued unabated? Gore's faith-based pessimism would lead him to call for even more taxes.

People are skeptical about global warming because it builds up to the same chorus as every other lefty hymn: more taxes, more hypocritical scolding (the film is the brainchild of Larry David's wife, Laurie, part of the community of people who drive a Prius to the private plane) and especially more America-bashing.

Gore says that America, alone, is the problem. Taking us to China, he ignores the filth spewed into the air by its coal-fired cities. He does not meet with bronchitic citizens who wear surgical masks outdoors and pause to hawk up brown gunk every few minutes. Instead, he tells us America is lagging behind. "China," he says, "is on the cutting edge" of environmentalism. Nonsense.

Gore is a dangerous evangelist for whom all roads lead to his sole, holy revelation. Remember how his son was injured in a car accident, the story he told at the 1992 convention? He's still telling it, and what was once touching has become exploitative. This time, the accident's meaning is that he wondered whether the Earth would still be there for his son. (Never mind that earlier in the film, he dates his eco-awakening to his Harvard years).

A sister who smoked and died of lung cancer? The lesson is that those who used to deny that smoking caused disease were wrong, so anyone who doubts catastrophic global warming must also be wrong.

Still not convinced that Gore's mind has only one emission? "We have to think differently about war," he says, referring to environmental effects of weapons. "We can't just mindlessly continue the patterns of the past." It's a chilling statement: Even when bombs are flying, Gore promises to measure CO2 first.

The man's shamelessness is astounding when he compares himself to Churchill, but that's not the worst of it. The final shot of Gore shows him bravely silhouetted against the cosmos, a lone figure tenderly surveying the firmament. The job he really wants, no recount can give him.

Too Much Hot Air

This week Ted Turner called for urgent action to address global climate change, which he referred to as the "single greatest challenge that humanity has ever faced."

Not to be outdone, Al Gore this week said..."Never before has all of civilization been threatened."

I'm no rocket scientist (my brother-in-law Chris is) but, doesn't the body emit Carbon Dioxide (CO2) when breathing?

Therefore to my rudimentary thinking... if they'd just shut their pie holes, maybe they'd have a lot less "Gore Bull" warming to bitch about.

I love how they have to jet all over the world to condemn everyone else, too!

Where's Rube Goldberg when you need him, he could design quite the complex machine to diagram their hypocritical bs!

Hypocritical also, is this U.N. report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Per the main stream media, the report states that "Gore Bull" warming has been very likely caused by man.

Yet, according to the IPCC's own findings...man's role is so uncertain that there is a strong possibility that we have been cooling, not warming, the Earth.

Gore also criticized critics of "Gore Bull" warming..."now they're offering cash for so-called skeptics who will try to confuse people about what the science really say..."

Gore went on to call them unethical!

This coming from a man who's admitted he's overplayed the dangers of "Gore Bull" warming...

"Nobody is interested in solutions if they don't think there's a problem. Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an overrepresentation of factual presentations on how dangerous it is..."

Today Gore (who this week alone was in Madrid, Spain, London, England and San Jose, California...did he walk?), will be announcing a concert about "Gore Bull" warming.

AlGoraPaloozer?

Hoping to involve 2 1/2 million people, it is set to take place on July 7 in Washington, Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro, Capetown and Kyoto.

One could really go Goldberg on the logistics of that with the jets, the electricity, the human waste generated, etc.

Oh the Humanity!

Summer, my time of year

The talking heads on TV were complaining about the warm weather the last couple of days.

The weather wench asked the other two wienies if they'd turned on their air and one had!

I'm sure "Gore-Bull" warming has got something to do with it.

I came across this the other day by another phony fiberal eco-nut...

Flogging the British release of his film "Wild Hogs" recently, John Travolta urged everyone to "do their bit" to combat global warming...

...London's Daily Mail, which quickly calculated that Travolta -- who it says owns at least five aircraft of various sizes, which he parks at his private home/airport in Florida -- leaves an annual "carbon footprint" of pollution nearly 100 times greater than that of the average British citizen.

...Travolta said that even though he is sensitive to the environment, he needs his own planes because it's a big hassle to be a movie star and get around. He also told reporters that the answer to global warming might possibly be to build domed cities in space.

Has he been sharing ideas with Sheryl Crow?

So what's the solution?

According to the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) leading scientists are expected to back a major expansion of nuclear power as a way of saving the world from global warming.

Isn't that the same group that got all the press when they said man was to blame for "Gore-Bull" warming?

That's got to scare all of those who genuflect at the altar of the U.N.

There's no chance the U.N. could be wrong, after all the scientific community is united in that fact.

Or is it?

During the last 10,000 years climate has been seesawing between the North and South Atlantic Oceans. As revealed by findings presented by Quaternary scientists at Lund University, Sweden, cold periods in the north have corresponded to warmth in the south and vice verse. These results imply that Europe may face a slightly cooler future than predicted by IPCC, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Summertime is the best time anyplace
Cuz its summer, summertime is here
Yes its summer, my time of year

(Words are by WAR, but its my sentiments exactly)

Frozen Wasteland

With a predicted two more inches of snow tomorrow and another three to five by Sunday, on top of our current total of 51" to 53"?, this winter is quickly ranking right up there and the scientific community is united in that fact.

That puts us 33 to 35 inches above normal and closing in on the recent records of 58.5 inches received in 2007-2008 (#6 Most Snowfall In A Winter Season) and the 58.4 inches of 2003-2004 (#7 on the We've Been Hit Parade).

Thankfully, the folks at Minnesotans For Global Warming have come through to chase away my SAD Panda.

Al Gore is RIGHT about Global Warming

Witnessing the Impact of Global Warming in Your Life?

It's a question asks ABC News on their web site.

We're currently producing a report on the increasing changes in our physical environment, and are looking for interesting examples of people coping with the differences in their daily lives. Has your life been directly affected by global warming?

We want to hear your stories. Have you seen changes in your own backyard or hometown? The differences can be large or small — altered blooming schedules, unusual animals that have arrived in your community, higher water levels encroaching on your property.

I found a GREAT Answer, to ABC's question, at The Corner/National Review Online...

I hear that ABC news is looking for proof of Global Warming. How about this? The "HEAT" won the NBA finals and the "HURRICANES" won it all in the NHL.

If that does't prove it, nothing will!

Planet Earth

At least President Obama is recycling his cliches when he makes fun of the Flat Earth Society.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

His own White House doesn't grasp that Alaska, Hawaii and the U.S. Territories are part of the nation as they try  to make the case that 2012 was the warmest year on record with record heat across the country.

The White House cites the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) as it's source, but the agency actually ranked 2012 the 10th-warmest on record.

Obama's speech on the Greenhouse Effect, err Global Warming, err Climate Change also mentioned that the planet is warming, but the New York Times noted earlier this month that a lull in warming has occurred.

I forgot to remember

An article in The New York Times helped jog my feeble mind about "An Inconvenient Truth".

During one of the "non political" rants against Republicans, Al Gore criticizes a one time Bush Administration official for not being a scientist.

He complains that this official is editing information about "Gore Bull" warming and insinuates he's in the pocket of Big Oil.

What?

How is it possible for a non scientist to be so deeply involved in how scientific information is provided to the public?

That's right, it's ok if you're a Fiberal Dummycrat!

Although Mr. Gore is not a scientist...

“I am trying to communicate the essence of it in the lay language that I understand.”

Bought and paid for by Big Oil?

Not Dr. Don J. Easterbrook, emeritus professor of geology at Western Washington University...

I don’t want to pick on Al Gore,”...Easterbrook... told hundreds of experts at the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America.

“But there are a lot of inaccuracies in the statements we are seeing, and we have to temper that with real data.”

He hotly disputed Mr. Gore’s claim that “our civilization has never experienced any environmental shift remotely similar to this” threatened change.

Nonsense, Dr. Easterbrook told the crowded session. He flashed a slide that showed temperature trends for the past 15,000 years. It highlighted 10 large swings, including the medieval warm period. These shifts, he said, were up to “20 times greater than the warming in the past century.”

Getting personal, he mocked Mr. Gore’s assertion that scientists agreed on global warming except those industry had corrupted. “I’ve never been paid a nickel by an oil company,” Dr. Easterbrook told the group. “And I’m not a Republican.”

Al Gore has admitted that he fudges the facts...

"Nobody is interested in solutions if they don't think there's a problem. Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an overrepresentation of factual presentations on how dangerous it is..."

What does "overrepresentation" mean?

Nowhere does Mr. Gore tell his audience that all of the phenomena that he describes fall within the natural range of environmental change on our planet,” Robert M. Carter, a marine geologist at James Cook University in Australia, said in a September blog. “Nor does he present any evidence that climate during the 20th century departed discernibly from its historical pattern of constant change.”

I guess it could mean that!

A couple of other things that came back to me about the schlockumentary.

You see Al Gore an quite a few shots either driving, being chauffeured and flying.

There's also his interest in strip mining, which reminded me of this August 2006 USA Today commentary...

Gore's home in Carthage is sitting on a zinc mine. Gore receives $20,000 a year in royalties from Pasminco Zinc, which operates a zinc concession on his property. Tennessee has cited the company for adding large quantities of barium, iron and zinc to the nearby Caney Fork River.

Is that the same river that runs through the movie?

I little too ironic, don't ya think.

'Bout Damn Time

In an interview with the Associated Press, Al Gore said that renovations are nearly complete to make his Nashville home a model "green" home.

"This plan has been in the works for a long time."

What's a long time to Gore?

Gore's renovation project, which he said has been in the works for months...

Months?

I believe he's owned this 10,000 square foot monstrosity since at least 2001!

What about his two other homes?

I think it's the one in Carthage that has a zinc mine and an oil well.

It's obvious that this is in direct response to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.

That group, in February, made public Gore's electrical use for 2006.

Gore characterized that as a "...misleading attack by a global-warming denier group."

That's interesting because in February this is what the group said about "Gore-bull" warming...

...it's unclear whether global warming is caused by humans...

Hardly a denial.

I guess what a Gore spokesperson said then fits now...

"Sometimes when people don't like the message...it's convenient to attack the messenger."

That same spokesperson said...

Focusing on Gore's personal electricity consumption misses the point of An Inconvenient Truth...

The Fiberal point is the always hypocritical "do as I say, not as I do" and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The Name Game

Not just Postponed, the CLIMATARDS want to cancel Gore-BULL Warming altogether.

The problem with global warming, some environmentalists believe, is “global warming.”

The term turns people off, fostering images of shaggy-haired liberals, economic sacrifice and complex scientific disputes, according to extensive polling and focus group sessions conducted by ecoAmerica...

Plus, you look damn stupid (and the scientific community is united in that fact) when the Earth has seen global temperatures flatline since 2001 despite rising greenhouse gas concentrations.

Check out what ecoAmerica says about itself...

ecoAmerica is an environmental non-profit that uses psychographic research, strategic partnerships and engagement marketing to shift personal and civic choices of environmentally agnostic Americans.

"psychographic"?

That's PSYCHObabble and Bonana Fanna Fo, FONY!

Half The Truth

The Greenhouse Effect, err Global Warming, err Climate Change influenced about half of 2012's wildest weather events.

Included in the half are -- Superstorm Sandy's devastating surge and the blistering U.S. summer heat, but not included were a record wet British summer and the U.S. drought.

Those were chalked up to the random freakiness of weather.

What's interesting is -- All 12 events would have happened anyway, but their magnitude and likelihood were boosted in some cases by global warming

I'm no scientist, and the scientific community is united in that fact, but if they were going to happen anyway, nothing could boost that likelihood.

The different authors of the 21 chapters used differing techniques to look at climate change connections, and in some instances came to conflicting and confusing conclusions.

Not only is the science not settled, neither are the scientists.

Then there's this -- Study: Warming Will Shift Tracks of Future Sandy-Like Tropical Storms Away from U.S. Northeast

Rare Earth

I prefer mine medium well.

Get Ready, cause here it comes.

07/07/07 & Live Earth.

Don't they know it's the end of the world?

A Daily Mail investigation has revealed that far from saving the planet, the extravaganza will generate a huge fuel bill, acres of garbage, thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions, and a mileage total equal to the movement of an army.

The most conservative assessment of the flights being taken by its superstars is that they are flying an extraordinary 222,623.63 miles between them to get to the various concerts - nearly nine times the circumference of the world. The true environmental cost, as they transport their technicians, dancers and support staff, is likely to be far higher.

The total carbon footprint of the event, taking into account the artists' and spectators' travel to the concert, and the energy consumption on the day, is likely to be at least 31,500 tonnes of carbon emissions, according to John Buckley of Carbonfootprint.com, who specialises in such calculations.

Throw in the television audience and it comes to a staggering 74,500 tonnes. In comparison, the average Briton produces ten tonnes in a year.

The concert will also generate some 1,025 tonnes of waste at the concert stadiums - much of which will go directly into landfill sites.

Moreover, the pop stars headlining the concerts are the absolute antithesis of the message they promote - with Madonna leading the pack of the worst individual rock star polluters in the world.

Oh the hypocrisy!

Tweedle Dum Al (the 2nd), the father of Gore-bull warming, should be acting more like a father and trying to save his son (the 3rd).

I guess I shouldn't expect too much, his father (the 1st) was an asshole too and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Tweedle Dee Hellary weighed in on the concert...

"The scientific consensus is clear and overwhelming: we are causing the planet to warm, with potentially devastating consequences to ourselves and our children. We need to take immediate steps to address this problem, and I applaud everyone who is participating in Live Earth for demanding action..."

CON sensus is more like it.

In an article entitled...

Alarmist global warming claims melt under scientific scrutiny.

Many of the assertions Gore makes in his movie, ''An Inconvenient Truth,'' have been refuted by science, both before and after he made them.

Then there's this article...

Global warming debunked

Man's contribution to the greenhouse gases was so small we couldn't change the climate if we tried.

What about?

Oldest DNA ever recovered shows warmer planet

Scientists who probed two kilometers (1.2 miles) through a Greenland glacier to recover the oldest plant DNA on record said the planet was far warmer hundreds of thousands of years ago than is generally believed.

(Aaahh) Get ready, cause here I come (on my way)...

Global Warming's Real Cause?

As part of their ongoing Warm-Mongering, the Ragister ran another in their series on Iowa's Changing Climate.

The article was ill timed because they cite Iowan James Hansen as a climate expert, the same James Hansen that I had noted earlier on Sunday had committed several major mistakes regarding Gore-BULL Warming (The Heat Is On?)

Naturally you didn't read about those errors in the Ragister, or other Fiberal American newspapers, because it doesn't fit their agenda and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Hansen's biggest mistake about Gore-BULL Warming is probably two fold.

First, Hansen has not seen the connection between the sun shining on his increasingly bald head that is thereby reflected back into the atmosphere causing a huge hole in the ozone.

(Note the first picture is believed from circa 1988 and the second is 2008.)

Secondly, the heat on his head is obviously frying his brain!

Time For Action?

Speaking in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union at Iowa State University, State Senator Rob "Boss" Hogg promoted his book on the Greenhouse Effect, err Global Warming, err Climate Change.

State senator calls for climate control action

"Boss" Hogg droned on for an hour, contributing to the higher levels of carbon dioxide by expelling copious amounts of CO2 and the scientific community is united in that fact.

It's a good thing for "Boss" Hogg that there isn’t the slightest evidence that more carbon dioxide has caused more extreme weather.

As for extreme weather, caused by global warming, it is not supported by science.

“General statements about extremes are almost nowhere to be found in the literature but seem to abound in the popular media,” climate scientist Gavin Smith of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies said last month. “It’s this popular perception that global warming means all extremes have to increase all the time, even though if anyone thinks about that for 10 seconds they realize that’s nonsense.”

It turns out that the overall effect of climate change will be positive for humankind and the planet.

Like Tornadoes in Iowa, with this year seeing the fewest such storms since comprehensive tracking began 33 years ago. The National Weather Service said that's one less than the previous low of 16 set in 2012.

CONsensus

Gore-BULL warming?

Talk about misnaming a movement!

It appears that THE debate is over and I didn't even have to do a basic Google search to find it out...

Temperature Monitors Report Widescale Global Cooling

China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years...

In addition to Record levels of Antarctic sea ice...

All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data.

All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

...a value large enough to wipe out nearly all the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year's time...

Let's hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans -- and most of the crops and animals we depend on -- prefer a temperature closer to 70.

Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.

I, along with others, will sport the moniker
"global warming deniers" along with proud member of the "vast right-wing conspiracy" and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Al Gore, give back your Oscar and Nobel!

You phonies, and Chicken Little's, need to admit you're wrong!

Chu On This

Energy Secretary Steven Chu was in Des Moines yesterday.

"...I’m not here because I’m thinking of running for the presidency."

Nerd jocularity aside, Chu was doling out dollars.

He also made news with comments that the nation's car manufacturers ought to make all new automobiles able to run on E85 ethanol-blended fuel.

"...It's just a thought, I don't think you're going to get any objections in this audience."

They might rabbit, if they knew Chu believes the country should move as quickly as possible beyond corn.

What would that do to Iowa's status as the nation's leading producer of ethanol?

Chu recently made news for suggesting all the world's roofs should be painted white as part of efforts to slow global warming.

Does that make a lot of sense during an Iowa winter?

Information from the department Chu heads (DOE) clearly demonstrates that heating is a much more significant factor in energy usage than cooling.

One companies press release stated the white roof proposal reflects an incredible ignorance of new technology developed 20 years ago that makes use of the solar collected heat on the roofs and in the attics of homes and commercial building.

Chu doesn't just want white roofs, but he also wants pavement and cars white or light-colored to reduce global warming.

Chu comes across like Al Gore on global warming, and the scientific community is united in that fact, jetting in and out of Des Moines.

His "white roof" proposal was delivered in England, where Chu was spotted in one of the largest, heaviest, all-black SUVs that has ever been seen in London.

FYI; the DOE's Inspector General recently released the results of an energy audit that showed the department could save more than $1.5 million annually on energy bills if the staff just implemented the government’s own power-saving guidelines.

Wonder if Obama will fire that IG too?

You Were So Warm?

He doesn't want to get into personally criticizing the rich phonies, like himself, who have a bigger carbon footprint in one year than you and I have in a lifetime.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

However, Al Gore equates you to a racist and homophobe if you don't believe him on Greenhouse Effect, err Global Warming, err Climate Change.

When I mentioned this to my wife, Chris chided Gore as a hypocrite.

I said I thought hypocrite wasn't a strong enough word for someone who has privately jetted around the world.

Someone who leaves a Lincoln Town Car idling, with the air conditioning on, for 20 minutes, so Tipper and his daughter Karenna are cool.

Someone who, in one home, used enough electricity in one year that would have powered 232 homes for a month.

Someone who, sold his Current TV Network to Al Jazeera, which is funded by the Qatari government, for $500 Million.

Chris suggested HYPERcrite and I thought that was closer to the truth.
Gore has previously stated that the science is settled on global warming and that 97 to 98 percent of the worlds’ scientists attest to its veracity

It must be unsettling to find that scientists are 95 per cent sure that humans are to blame for climate change

Gore also stated, The hurricane scale used to be 1-5 and now they’re adding a 6.

BUZZ--WRONG!

According to Chris Vaccaro, director of the National Weather Service’s office of public affairs --

No, we’re not pursuing any such change. But with his penchant for overstatement, Gore will continue to be a divisive and less than credible voice in climate change discourse.

Because Gore is okay with fudging the facts --

"Nobody is interested in solutions if they don't think there's a problem. Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an overrepresentation of factual presentations on how dangerous it is..."

Some of those 90+ percent of scientists must be confused by facts as to whether the planet is warming or cooling.

On one hand we're told, the Earth steadily continued to heat up, but in the same article we're advised that cloud-dwelling pollutants block the sun's heat, keeping the surface temperature of the Earth from rising.

What difference does it make anyway, NBC tells us that even if we stop producing carbon emissions now, climate change will persist for hundreds of years.

If that's the case, it's past time to start worrying about stopping climate change and change the focus to Improvise, Adapt and Overcome.

Extreme Ways

On the same day I read

New Study: ’2013 ranks as one of the least extreme U.S. weather years ever’– Many bad weather events at ‘historically low levels’

The Ragister reported

Iowa scientists: Spring floods, summer droughts more likely with global climate change

The Capitol Square Crapper quoted Gene Takle

“In the scientific community, we have debates on the details, But there are very, very few scientists who are active in studying climate science who deny the existence of the role of heat-trapping gases in raising our global average temperatures, and the fact that these heat-trapping gases are produced by humans.”

This group didn't get the memo

50 international scientists released a comprehensive new report on the science of climate change that concluded that evidence now leans against global warming resulting from human-related greenhouse gas emissions.

Six years ago, Takle didn't sound convinced himself about the Greenhouse Effect, err Global Warming, err Climate Change.

"If the climate is changing, you can't stop it over the next 50 years, What's coming is coming and we better be prepared to adjust to it."

IF?

Nearly ten years ago, Takle was part of a group that told us, global warming might not be as severe in the central United States as in other parts of the country because of a ‘hole’.

There's a hole alright and the scientific community is united in that fact
