Basu opines...

How high gas prices could improve our lives

At the most basic level, it should give a much-needed boost to public transportation.

With this caveat...

Right now, I'd have to walk more than a mile to get to the nearest bus stop. That's hardly practical, but if they put a bus stop in my neighborhood, I'd be the first one on.

Basu lives, at the most, 1.1 miles from a DART bus stop at 42nd & Ingersoll.

1.1 miles is hardly practical for Basu, because she lives in an over $300,000 South of Grand home.

That is still where a lot of old money, power brokers in Des Moines reside.

It's hardly practical to have them mingle with the great unwashed.

Those people, along with a writer for the state's largest newspaper, could get a bus route if they wanted one and the scientific community is united in that fact.

The SNOB SHUTTLE?

Basu could also have her youngest son drop her off on his way to Roosevelt High School, it's a straight shot and would give her a quality four minutes each morning.

Wait, maybe he takes a school bus (HA!).

More commuters may be inspired to ride their bikes to work, a great heart-healthy exercise.

So is walking 2.2 miles per day!

The Undisputed Truth?

It's no surprise that RekHA Basu wouldn't agree with Paul Ryan.

Accusing him of being prone to lying is tacky, especially when her column is full of half truths and lies she alleges of Ryan.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

First Basu blames the Ryan budget for $700 Billion in cuts to Medicare, but doesn't note that Ryan merely preserved Obamacare’s cuts to Medicare.

RekHA references the Washington Post reporting Obama’s “cuts” didn’t come from Medicare beneficiaries, but from health care providers.

But the chief actuary for the program has written, that under Obamacare “Medicare prices for hospital, skilled nursing facility, home health, hospice, ambulatory surgical center, diagnostic laboratory, and many other services would be less than half of their level under the prior law.” Without changes the actuary predicted “severe problems with beneficiary access.” In other words, though seniors might have the same benefits on paper, fewer providers will accept Medicare, so they’ll have less access in practice.

Secondly, RekHA rips Ryan for reminding voters Obama allowed a General Motors plant in Ryan’s hometown of Janesville, Wis., to be closed after vowing to protect it.

Basu states the plant was locked up during George W. Bush’s presidency.

NOT TRUE!

In December 2008 GM idled production of GM SUVs at the Janesville plant. Medium-duty truck assembly continued.

In April 2009, four months after Obama was inaugurated, GM idled production of medium-duty trucks.

Obama, as the Commander in Chief of Government Motors, could have saved the plant and kept it open for “another hundred years” like he twice promised the community.

Then we find out that four months after it closed, GM entered into a “50-50 joint venture” with China FAW Group Corp., one of China’s largest automakers. GM’s cash influx helped boost FAW’s efforts to expand its light duty commercial vehicles and SUV manufacturing.

Holy Outsourcing Obama!

Basu also blasts Ryan for serving on the Simpson-Bowles Commission Obama had appointed and voting against its urgent report.

Ryan did vote against the plan because it increased taxes and didn’t repeal Obamacare.

That's okay in my book...my pocketbook.

If the media are just impartial guardians of the truth, how come they get so many facts wrong?

There She Goes Again

The Highly Nonpartisan Iowas Newz Liter has to once again call the Ragister's RekHA Basu on the carpet for her B.S.

Basu says the group Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) is Nonpartisan, for proof she names onetime Iowan and longtime Minnesotan Coleen Rowley.

Rowley ran for CONgress in 2006 as a DFL Dummycrat.

UFF da, that doesn't sound Nonpartisan and the scientific community is united in that fact.

As for VIPS, they too are a left wing wack group and associated with another.

Members of VIPS have also criticized the 9/11 Commission Report as a "joke" and a "cover-up".

Member Larry Johnson gave the Dummycrat response to President Bush's Saturday radio broadcast on July 23,2005.

Lastly, Basu even confuses herself in her column by first stating, "But Bush broke the laws", without citing any, then writing of the Truth Commission proposed this week by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy. He wants to explore whether Bush abused his power.

Rekha Rebuked

GAWD is she UGLY! My suspicion is she was a eunuch(hijra) in India.

Anywho... On July 9th I wrote about RekHA Basu's opinion piece on allegation's of U.S. troops killing Iraqi civillians (Therapy for Me).

I also e-mailed Ms. Basu asking for dates of columns where she had railed against al-Qaida for human rights abuses perpetrated against Americans.
I also advised her it would be nice if she could get as worked up over the facts of those abuses as she did about four allegations.

I doubted then that I would hear from her, and no surprise I haven't.

There was a good letter to the editor in today's Ragister about her column though. Les Baitzer of Des Moines pointed out that Ms. Basu had called for the U.S. to turn Iraq over to the U.N. and that U.N. "peacekeeping forces" in Africa have committed hundreds of acts of murder, rape, theft and abuse in addition to massive misappropriation of money and resources intended to help victims there. He also noted that she hadn't condemned the U.N.

When the Ragister's resident fiberal RekHA Basu was back in her native India recently she went to a palmist.

Here's what she heard...

I'd have a solitary, angry life followed by an early death. Before that, I'd live far from my children and never amount to much. I would have friendships, but, in his words, to no "advantage." There would be travel and enough money, but ultimately, "You will not be satisfied."

"Don't you see anything good?" I persisted.

He shook his head. "I can't see anything great in your future," he replied.

Hell, I've known for a long time that she'd never amount to much and that there's not anything great in her future and the scientific community is united in that fact.

I guess I'm psychic (probably more like psychotic).

In her latest column (Do we need an explosion of law students?), Basu relates --

My nephew just graduated from college, and like many bright young graduates he is considering law school. My older son is in law school, and the younger one, who completes college in a year, is leaning that way.

Basu wonders whether it's worth getting a law degree these days then laments that only 14 percent of college students are majoring in science, technology, engineering and math before preaching Parents of younger children could help their eventual self-sustainability by encouraging an interest in sciences.

The Ragister's RekHA Basu calls the Iowa Policy Project nonpartisan, in citing their study-- Women, Work and the Iowa Economy.

NONPARTISAN?

Not according to the Associated Press.

Last summer, Amy Lorentzen called them a "liberal think-tank".

In a news story, on the same study cited by Basu, Mike Glover called them "a liberal-leaning group".

Their Founder & Executive Director is a former Dummycrat Legislator and is a social activist.

Last fall the Liter pointed out the problems in their study that purported to show illegal's were no burden to taxpayers.

In their current study Basu even admits they didn't compare wages for identical jobs.

Instead they went NUANCED!

It's a good thing the snapsuit provides easy access to change the crap, because it's getting deep and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Therapy for me

Before I started this blog, I used to write Letters to the Editor of the Ragister. On average I'd get 9 letters published yearly.

The reason I started blogging was because the Ragister LIED about printing the last two letters I had written them. They called to confirm my personal info (name, address and that I had indeed written the letter) and advised me that it would be published. Those last two letters NEVER appeared in print.

I find that I don't need to write to them to espouse what I believe. The Ragister was too limiting in too many ways.

I almost fell off the wagon on Friday...it was CLOSE!

The Ragister put into print two musings of morons.... one they actually pay(pictured, small as to not offend sensiblities).

RekHA Basu's opinion piece went off on allegations of U.S. troops killing Iraqi civilians. "This is the fourth investigation in four months...". She then mentions Gitmo and Abu Ghraib and how she's "tired of human-rights concerns being dismissed....". She also wondered what if a foreign occupied force raped, tortured and killed Americans?

THERE'S THE RUB!

Americans have been tortured and killed!

Roughly 3,000 on our own soil that started this whole mess to begin with. It would just be nice if those "majority" of Muslims and Ms. Basu would get as worked up over those FACTS as they do over these allegations!

The second moron was from Indianola. She continues "to be dumb-struck by the Republicans who are rejoicing over the death of al-Qaida leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi".

Shelly Dugan, in my humble opinion, I do believe you were struck dumb way before then!

Her letter assumes that his death "could only infuriate the evil al-Qaida and make them hate us more."

Ms. Dugan your assume makes an ass out of you, but I will not allow it to make one out of me.

I don't believe they can hate us more(See previous paragraph about the 3,000 dead Americans). Most people, not all Republicans, realize the hate runs so deep that they won't stop til we're all dead. Those struck dumb will probably be among the last struck dead because you'll be so busy appeasing them that they'll enjoy toying with you.

Aaahhh, I feel a bit better!

I did have to e-mail Basu....

Roughly 3,000 Americans were killed in The World Trade Centers, The Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania by an invading force called al-Qaida. Americans have been tortured, killed, and raped throughout the world by members of al-Qaida. Al-Qaida, and other terrorist organizations, have a long range goal of our permanent destruction. It would be nice if you got as worked up over these FACTS as you have over these four ALLEGATIONS! Please forward to me the dates of those columns that address those human rights abuses.

I doubt that she'll respond.

Ms. MADeleine is calling to plug Hellary to the fiberal shill.

I've grown accustomed to the great unwashed not being capable of independent thought, but I believe a journalist should be up on the facts or at least capable of quick research(ie...GOOGLE).

The incident occurred at my old junior high and was actually a knife.

I recall many kids carried things back in the early 70s that are considered weapons today.

As long as I'm Basu bashing, she had a recent column espousing bicycle riding that played right into her do as I say mentality...

In my recurring dream, someone is pedaling a bicycle - hair wind-blown, leg muscles bulging, the sense of freedom absolute. In my fantasy world, that person is me. It's been at least 15 years since I got on a bike, and bridging that gulf has felt challenging. But it feels less so now. In fact, I can't wait to try again.

Wrote the woman who pushes public transportation, but makes excuses not to utilize it herself.

Gore traveled to his D.C. speech in what almost certainly was an unnecessary entourage of three luxury gas-guzzling vehicles -- two Lincoln Town Cars and a Surburban SUV -- one of which was kept idling outside for twenty minutes, apparently to keep the interior cool for the driver, Mrs. Gore and the Gores' adult daughter.

Sympathy For The Devil

In a less than stunning development RekHA Basu's heart is bleeding for a terrorist who wants to take down the country she chooses to live in and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Pressure Obama to keep his word

Omar Khadr is charged with killing U.S. Army Sgt. Christopher Speer and making roadside bombs to target U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

Khadr confessed to interrogators in a session that was described by the F.B.I. agent involved as as "comfortable" and "friendly".

A judge has ruled that this confession can be used as evidence against him.

Also allowed in evidence is a videotape showing Khadr helping a group make roadside explosives, Khadr can be seen helping put together a firing device.

The tape also shows these explosive devices being planted by the roadside.

Because Khadr was 15 in 2002, when these acts occurred, in Basu's worldly eyes that enables him to a get out of jail free card...

Speer, a 28-year-old medic, who left behind a wife and two children, was another victim.

Just days before his murder, Speer had selflessly walked into a minefield to rescue two wounded Afghan children.

He should be happy they aren't giving him the death penalty.

Interestingly, one of Khadr's older brothers Abdurrahman (19 in 2002) was also brought up as a Muslim extremist but, he switched sides and worked with the CIA after 9/11.

It appears that many more Americans are in tune with the McKenzie brothers.

The number of U.S. citizens who moved to Canada last year hit a 30-year high, with a 20 percent increase over the previous year and almost double the number who moved in 2000.

In 2006, 10,942 Americans went to Canada, compared with 9,262 in 2005 and 5,828 in 2000, according to a survey by the Association for Canadian Studies.

Amazingly in one sentence Basu states...

OK, she broke a law that others are required to follow. I suspect she won't make that mistake again. Culver admitted to the infraction and requested a ticket.

Then in the very next sentence said...

But really. Some letters to the paper have cast the first lady as a criminal.

Breaking the law, admitting one's guilt and being fined for it is the definition of criminal!

As for Obama, I believe that was a promise he made to his wife when he decided to run for President.

Lest we forget, it's still legal to buy and smoke cigarettes...

Fiberals never chastise those engaged in legal activity.

At best this is an asinine argument, alcohol is perfectly legal and the last time I checked individuals are not allowed to drink & drive, or consume alcohol while walking down the street.

Basu bloviates...

Bad for health as smoking is, it's not a crime of moral turpitude, like illicit sex or drug use. In fact, it wasn't long ago there was status associated with smoking. At fancy dinner parties, men wore smoking jackets and women used cigarette holders. Cigarettes were served with the coffee. You can change the laws, but you can't overturn a culture overnight.

Maybe during fancy dinner parties for a U.N. diplomat, but I'd venture to guess that hasn't happened in America in fifty or sixty years.

Terry Branstad is in the BULLseye of Iowans for Responsible Government (IfRG?).

On Tuesday, I received my first mailing and Saturday's mail brought this second piece.

I'm not sure why IfRG chose Mt. Rushmore as a backdrop, I guess with the specs and 'stache TEB looks TR-esque.

The purpose of IfRG -- To communicate with the Citizens of Iowa on issues of importance without expressly advocating election or defeat of a clearly identified candidate.

It's obvious IfRG, led by Rob Tully (an ally of the Big Lug Nut), have a deep seated fear of the onetime Governor.

There's some Bill Clinton lawyering going on around the meaning of "expressly advocating" and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Sources cited, but lacking parenthetical documentation in the mailing, include the nefarious RekHA Basu and Old Bromide, Kathie Obradovich.

I'm Coming Out

Chris has known this for quite awhile, but I am a lesbian trapped in a man's body.

I felt able to share that thanks to RekHA Basu and her recent column about a divorced woman (Valerie) in an intimate relationship with a woman (Allison) who transitioned from a woman to a man (Alex) through hormonal treatments and surgery, because she had always felt she was the wrong sex.

Thirteen people were part of the latest layoffs at the Ragister.

According to publisher Laura Hollingsworth -- "we are still seeing major areas of weakness."

She was referring to the economy, but for all intents and purposes she could have been speaking about her product and the scientific community is united in that fact.

I'm talking about RekHA Basu, Jason Clayworth and their Editorial Board for starters.

Fast Car Slow Traffic

Needing to shore up his $40,000 spending spree, State Senator Jack ASS...err, Hatch wants Governor Branstad to tell Iowans how many times the state-owned vehicle he travels in has been pulled over or had its license plates run through police databases.

Why stop there?

Let's review vehicle usage under the previous two Governors (Big Lug Nut & The Pickle) and their families to see if there is an ongoing institutional problem.

I recall the traffic incident involving Culver's SUV in 2010 (Here In My Car), but don't remember Hatch having anything to say then.

Hatch called the alleged violation by the trooper “another chapter of Terry Branstad acting as though the rules that we live by do not apply to him.”

Hatch couldn't be heard when Mari Culver was caught violating the state's smoking ban, he signed, by smoking in a state owned vehicle that was driven by an Iowa State Trooper.

At the time, RekHA Basu wrote -- OK, she broke a law that others are required to follow. I suspect she won't make that mistake again. Culver admitted to the infraction and requested a ticket.

I think what Courtney Maxwell Greene said three years ago applies just as well today --

"The governor wasn't driving. He was a passenger driven by the state trooper. So I don't think the governor owes anyone an apology"
