Sweating With An Oldie

The second Iowa gubernatorial debate started with Terry Branstad walking nearly all the way to Chet Culver's podium to shake hands.

I thought that was a nice effort to probably keep the Big Lug Nut from breaking into Sweaty Chetty.

Epic Fail and the scientific community is united in that fact.

I found myself distracted by the number of times Culver had to fling his facial fluid from his nose and brow.

I'm not alone --The governor’s physical appearance weakened his presentation, according to Steffen Schmidt, a political science professor at Iowa State.

“(He) looked sweaty and he was constantly touching his nose,” Schmidt said. “If you watched the debate, it was pretty clear Branstad was the winner.”

There was no Brain Suck moment for Culver, but it was odd during the Arizona immigration law question, that Culver claimed "Illegal is Illegal" and then criticized Branstad for wanting to fill up the jails with detained illegals.

Branstad scored when he said only 34% of flood money that has been allocated has reached businesses.

Culver tried to claim that it took Branstad 12 years to close the books on the 1993 flood.

Twelve years would be 2005 and almost to the end of the second term of The Pickle, Governor Vilsack.

Culver became annoying by wanting to go back several times to answer previous questions, on unemployment and preschool, when the debate had moved on to the next question.

At one point the crowd turned on him when he tried to go back to Terry Branstad not rebutting the preschool question.

Numerous times Culver tried to circumvent the format by wanting rebuttal time after he'd had a rebuttal.

I'm not sure why he just didn't use time from the next question to revisit the previous question, like he'd been doing.

I thought Terry Branstad scored when he highlighted how free preschool for all had actually hurt K-12 and College education, especially in lieu of Culver's 10% budget cuts.

Branstad hit a home run here when he said -- “Now we now know what I-JOBS is, It’s Illinois jobs”.

Somebody's been reading our blog (I-JOBS).

Branstad further drilled the point home when he mentioned the people from Illinois that marched with Culver at the University of Iowa Homecoming parade.

Culver lamely turned it into having support from all over including his sister here from New York.

Must be here to help him pack up Terrace Hill.

Is part of Culver bringing IBM, Google and Microsoft to Iowa include constant name dropping?

They must have required numerous free plugs.

Culver has also increased the total number of jobs created by 5,000 in one month, from the first debate figure of 16,000, to 21,000.

Culver continues to be no mathlete when he criticized Indiana as having unemployment at 50% above the U.S. average.

Indiana's August rate was 10.2%, during the same time period the U.S. rate was 9.6%.

I loved Branstad's shot at Staci Appel-sauce for brains and her Supreme Court sitting husband, Brent, when Branstad mentioned how partisan the judicial nominating process has become.

In his closing remarks, it sounded like Culver was claiming Branstad was Governor in the 1920s and I know during the debate I heard Culver call his opponent Blanstad.

Lastly, I felt sorry for the people that had to shake the hand Culver used to mop the flop sweat after the debate was over.

Tuesday Afternoon

Terrible (to quote Charles Barkley)

That might be the word to use the kind of day the Big Lug Nut had.

First, the focus was on $576,000 the U.S. Election Assistance Commission says he misspent as Secretary of State.

Iowa Voters has a different angle on the scandal.

the real scandal was the money that was “properly” spent on touchscreen voting machines that have since been scrapped. If anyone wants to criticize then SoS Chet Culver, it should be for that foolish purchase

The BLN brags that its only a half a million dollars, and in the scam of things it is only a drop in the bucket when compared to his $875 million (plus interest) I-JOBS program.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Which leads us to the second part of Sweaty Chetty's Terrible Tuesday.

Dave Price, WHO HD, questioned the BLN on how many jobs have been created by his borrowing scam, it's a quest they began two months ago (No Controlling Authority?) and the Culver Crew still can't come up with an answer.

"We've now invested in 1500 projects. If you're talking about one job per project, you're talking about 1500 jobs. 10 jobs per project, you can do the math." Channel 13 had hoped Culver or his staff had done the math.

The Liter has pointed out previously that this administration contains no Mathletes.

It was just last month during Culver's campaign kickoff that a lost briefing book showed

In Story County, I-JOBS spent $40 million, while unemployment climbed to 5.4% from 4%. In Marshall County, the state spent $24 million and watched unemployment rise to 8.5% from 7.2%.In Johnson County, the state spent $155 million while unemployment rose to 4.8% from 3.7%.

Earlier this year Culver declared --

"And I guarantee you by late spring and summer, we're going to have a record amount of job creation and economic development in the state."

Just like Charles Barkley, Chet Culver is a Dumbass!

I'll Be Back?

Things have to be really going badly for the Barack Obama campaign to have Sweaty Chetty Culver as your spokesmodel.

Culver re-emerges at campaign events for Obama

The Big Lug Nut is proof that shit floats and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Erin Seidler, who used to work for Culver and now is part of Team Obama/Biden, said
it makes sense for Culver to work on the president's behalf again because both men have similar priorities.

``Governor Culver's record from his time in office match well with a lot of the key messages we're going to be talking about in the campaign here in Iowa,''

She must be referring to stimulus and deficit spending.

Just like Frankenstein, the media want to bring Culver's political career back to life.

Obradovich: Obama could fuel a Culver comeback

The BLN aided the speculation by stating, “Who would have thought that after 12 years after office, Terry Branstad would run again?”

Culver failed, in 2010, by trying to scare voters by saying, “We don’t want to go back to the past with Terry Branstad”.

A Culver opponent could crucify him by changing it to, We don't want to go back to the past with Chet Culver.

Nowhere To Run

In earth-shattering news

Democrat Chet Culver: I won’t run for public office in 2014

My mistake, the Earth would be shattering if the Big Lug Nut was running

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

Sweaty Chetty says -- I am excited to support the Iowa Democratic Party’s great ticket of candidates up and down the ballot

That leaves the Dummycrats with Jack ASS...err, Hatch for Governor and Staci Appel-sauce for brains for CONgress.

I likes them odds.

In her Ragister report, Jennifer Jacobs states Culver currently runs the Culver Group, a consulting firm.

No, The Culver Group is land surveying and construction firm in the state of California.

The Chet Culver Group is the Big Lug Nut's business.

Chester NOT STEW-PED!

I called his advertising "sad" and "hokey" back in May. Now The Hill online news has an article that says it's "hardly buzz-worthy".

If Chet Culver wants to follow in the footsteps of fellow Democrat and popular Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, he’s going to have to do better than clichés about his tight-knit family, excellence in the state’s schools and the “jobs of tomorrow” in his campaign ads, according to a recent survey by Wilson Research Strategies Inc.

They compare it to Jim Nussle's advertising.
Culver's ad didn't measure up, scoring lower than Nussle even among Democrats surveyed.

Nussle’s ad was favored by 53 percent of Democrats, compared to Culver’s 31 percent.

Culver’s ad jumps broadly from topic to topic, beginning with a shot of Culver and his father, former Sen. John Culver, saying how, “in the Culver family, your word is your bond.” The Democrat is called a teacher, a coach, a husband and a father who “cut paperwork and saved taxpayers millions as secretary of state” and “has a specific plan and new ideas to bring excellence to our schools and create the jobs of tomorrow.”

The ad shows Culver holding a book that presumably contains his plan, but no details are discussed. It goes on to say he’s endorsed by labor and women’s groups and is the only Democrat who can beat Nussle. It closes with, “Ready to lead Iowa forward; ready to win in November.”

Surprisingly the ad didn't do well with a Dummycrat core group...State and local government workers gave him the lowest marks. The bright spot? Culver’s ad did play well to lobbyists.

411 from Fatty

Iowa Homeland Security Tsarina/Leftenant Governor Fatty Judge (Where's she been, celebrating the Year of the PIG?) showed who has the brains in the administration when she corrected The Big Lug's flub about 911.

Monday was the first time the Ragister reported Chester's goof...

Culver urged those seeking relief from the cold to call 911 and local police and fire dispatchers will direct them to the nearest shelter or warming center.

Tuesday the Ragister reported...Culver said residents needing shelter or facing other emergencies should call 911, despite assertions from at one least one local official that the influx of calls was jamming phone lines.

The Ragister identified the local official as...Marshalltown Police Chief Lon Walker said that practice had clogged up the emergency line in his area. "Don't call 911 for emergency shelters," he said. "I don't know where that came from, but that's not the appropriate use of 911."

It seems The Lug wasn't the only loser who recommended 911...Gov. Chet Culver and Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management officials have recommended that people call 911 to locate nearby emergency shelters.

This really isn't an EMERGENCY either, makes one feel sooo secure!

Fatty finally came forward and said folks should call 211 for shelter information.

State 29 picked up on this tidbit...

Chet Culver: If You're Out Of Power, Visit Our Web Site

www.iowahomelandsecurity.org

A little over one month on the big(?) stage as Governor and Chester's flubs include a left hand swearing in ceremony, a new word LITERASLY, flooding Emergency 911 calls for information and urging folks to log onto a web site when they have no power.

It's going to be a long term!

Chester's a Cheater?!

Not good for a former teacher to be accused of Plagiarism!

According to the HOTLINE

Jim Nussle released a statement concerning education, after Culver received the teacher's union endorsement on Friday.

Here's how the AP, in its daily story about the campaign, covered Nussle. The writethru crossed the wire at about 4:14 PM CT.

In a statement issued Friday, Nussle said he'll continue to push for raising teacher pay. ''My priority is to have Iowa set the standard for world class education and that starts by raising teacher pay above the national average,'' he said. ''As governor, I will work to ensure more reliable and more predictable funding for education so we have the best and brightest teachers in the classrooms teaching our children.''

The Nussle campaign noticed that the following appeared on Culver's site about 5:40 pm on Friday.

Chet Culver has been endorsed by the Iowa State Education Association. The union, represented by more than 32,000 members, chose Chet because he will fight for educators all over the state. "My priority is to have Iowa set the standard for world class education and that starts by raising teacher pay above the national average," he said. "As governor, I will work to ensure more reliable and more predictable funding for education so we have the best and brightest teachers in the classrooms teaching our children."

Culver has only espoused raising teacher salaries to the national average, not above.

HOTLINE posted a copy of the offending Culver web site, hotlineblog.nationaljournal.com, naturally the Culver camp has changed their web site.

Duhbate

I was not keyed up for watching the final Iowa Governor's debate.

I don't know if it was because I'd rather be watching playoff baseball, or because I'm ready for this to be over, probably both.

Nurse Ratched, the Ragister's Carolyn Washburn's jowls made her look like a puppet during her introduction.

I did like Branstad's "You've tried hard, but the results speak for themselves. The status quo is not good enough" line, but he went to the well with it one too many times.

It only took about 5 minutes into a debate "focused on the future" for the Big Lug Nut to take us back to the '80s and it was about that time I noticed Culver had a sheen going on his face, but he wasn't sweating.

Culver was again name dropping IBM, Google and Microsoft, just like in the previous debate.

Chris noted that Culver criticized Branstad being for big business and wondered what Culver considers his trinity.

Tax Dodgers, at least Google is per this article --Google 2.4% Rate Shows How $60 Billion Lost to Tax Loopholes

It must be okay for Google because they, along with Microsoft, are part of an industry that funds Dummycrats to the tune of 66 percent.

It was odd that Culver quoted Wall Street 24/7 as having Iowa seventh best in education and then saying we have the "best schools".

The online publication is actually named 24/7 Wall St and is based in New Rochelle, New York, but is incorporated in Delaware because it's a tax haven.

24/7 Wall St thinks we're 7th in education because more than 90.5% of 25-year-olds having completed high school or the state equivalent.

Which is actually sad, because more than 90% should complete high school by the time they're 18 and the scientific community is united in that fact.

It was false for Culver to claim that the $90 to $180 dollars he's trying to by votes with would put fuel in people's tanks or food on their table, as Culver is proposing a
NON- refundable tax CREDIT.

At the 34 minute mark is when Culver started to break into Sweaty Chetty, with his hand to the upper lip/mouth area before and after a question from Dean Borg.

I thought the "Yes or No Lightning Round" was a failure, with hardly any questions being answered with a simple yes or no.

What the hell is, "You need to look in the mirror before you start throwing stones"?

Does Culver mean, Let he who is without sin cast the first stone?

It's okay to say it that way Chet, after all you served as an Elder at Central Presbyterian Church.

Culver evaded the question of how he would re-invent himself, so I'm going with skinnier and less sweaty for him.

You can tell the Big Lug Nut is behind, because he had no sense of humor when asked about how he's been caricatured over the years.

At least Branstad handled it with humor when he kidded about cartoonist Brian Duffy making him look really short, and it was a nice zing at the Ragister's expense as they laid Duffy off nearly two years ago.

Disconnect?

John Culver beget the Big Lug Nut and now he doesn't understand why Iowans have regrets about his boy.

John Culver: Polls indicate a disconnect with my son’s record

Hold the phone, the disconnect will come in November when Iowans will cut off his service.

Culver's dad says polls fail to grasp son's feats

Your son can't grasp his own feets and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Culver: Son Chet’s term has been ‘remarkable’

He got the bull part right.

A majority of Iowans have no idea who John Culver is because he's been disconnected from this state for so long.

I love how daddy lives in D.C., when not in Massachusetts, and uses words like "we" and "our" while discussing this state.

He also blames "the media" for his boys problems -- people are confused from the amount of information distributed by media that is nowhere near as dependable or credible as it once was.

“We have an overwhelming proliferation of news, from ... media we never had before. So much of it is not checked (for facts).”

I can't help but wonder about what the facts are about the Culver family.

I couldn't come up with anything on John's parents, and I'm not sure who he's married to.

Chet's mom is Ann Cooper Culver, in this bio John's wife is listed as Mary Jane Checchi, but in this article he says his wife's name is Kate(?).

It's only for Governor, just make it up ya BIG LUG

The Quad-City Times caught Chester Culver, the man with Iowa Common Sense, making stuff up in his last debate with Jim Nussle.

In Monday night's debate, not televised in Central Iowa, Chester said that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce ranks Iowa the fifth-best business climate in the country.

David Felipe, a spokesman for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said he doesn’t know what Culver is talking about. He said his organization doesn’t compile business-climate rankings.

“We didn’t do the study,” he said.

Taylor West, a spokeswoman for Culver, said he misspoke during the debate. She said Culver was referring to Iowa’s fourth-ranked legal liability climate, which she said is a significant piece of the business climate.

“The overall point here is that Iowa actually has a strong business climate, and that under Chet Culver, it’s going to get better....

It turns out that the U.S. Chamber’s magazine did an article this year about the business climate rankings done by another group, the Tax Foundation.

The Tax Foundation’s most recent report on business-tax climate, released last week, ranks Iowa 43rd best in the country.

43rd out of 50!

Chester's a former teacher, but couldn't do the math!!

Two things Chester, never let 'em see you sweat and lying isn't an Iowa Value.

Krusty Conservative has more.

Culver Commercial

Chet Culver, Dummycrat for Governor, is running a campaign commercial where he's sitting at a table in a cafe having what looks to be a serious discussion with average Iowans. Look closely at who's nodding in agreement, like a bobblehead, at the table. It's none other than Chet's daddy, former one term U.S. Senator, John! It's kind of sad, and hokey, when you can't find someone outside of your family who'll sit at a table and listen to your ideas. He also holds up his "plan" for Iowa at the end of the commercial and both my wife and I get this Al Gore "lockbox" feel from it. I see Mike Blouin, Dummycrat for Governor, is running ads that come close to calling Culver a liar for not admitting he was a lobbyist for IBP. It's the second time they've caught him less than factual. Just say it, Chet is STUPID and he's FAT too!

It's A Laugh

Here's a hoot from the Big Lug Nut.

Former Iowa governor Chet Culver is looking at running for governor again

Things getting lonely at The Chet Culver Group of one?

No actual real running would be involved and the scientific community is united in that fact.

A failed one term governor who garnered 43% of the vote in his re-election bid?

Can you say Brain Suck?

I probably should have titled this post, You're So Vain.

Thanks for the Monday chuckle, Sweaty Chetty.

Sweat Popa Chubby

I'm trying to figure out if the look on Sweaty Chetty's face is one of dazed because of dehydration, or if there's a beer sign up ahead and he's dreaming of double fisting.

The Big Lug Nut is trying to scare us out of a "past we can't repeat" with Terry Branstad, but it is painfully obvious that Chet Culver is a future we can't afford.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

From his $875 million (plus interest) I-JOBS borrowing scam, to the IDED film office fiasco and the IABD (Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Divison) bender that makes the RIO $19,000 carpet look like a wet spot.

How is it that the Governor can help three top level state employees find the exit sign over IDED, but can't get Attorney General Tom Miller to agree that one of Miller's former assistant Attorneys General, Lynn Walding, needs to be canned after improperly spending tens of thousands of dollars?

If all of this hasn't taxed your patience, there's also the more than $133 million increase in property taxes.

Chet Culver -- A Future We Can't Afford!

My Guarantee

In launching his latest campaign ad (Field Of Memes?), the Big Lug Nut told the press -- “I can guarantee you one thing, we’re going to win on Nov. 2.”

The press still has never pressed Culver on a previous guarantee from February --

"And I guarantee you by late spring and summer, we're going to have a record amount of job creation and economic development in the state."

Iowa's job gain in July was 1,700 jobs.

That's not a record amount and the scientific community is united in that fact.

I can guarantee you the 113,800 unemployed Iowans don't think it's a record amount of job creation.

The 30,000 jobs you told Iowans that I-JOBS would create would have been more like it.

Culver now is complaining of a hidden meaning in Team Branstad's latest ad.

Culver related that using the word, "big", over his picture is an inappropriate attack on his weight.

Odd, because he also told the press that he didn't consider the ad an attack on your “girth”?

Now he's trying to be macho and is challenging Branstad to a triathlon.

NO!

I still haven't got these pictures out of my mind.

Chet Culver has had his chance and Iowa can't afford to give you another one.

Worth a chuckle or twelve, if it wasn't so sad

The Rev. Al Sharpton yesterday threatened to again seek the Democratic presidential nomination unless current contenders, including four senators he visited on Capitol Hill, commit to focusing attention on civil rights issues.

Mr. Sharpton's comments came as he visited Democratic Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, Barack Obama of Illinois and Christopher J. Dodd of Connecticut, the four senators seeking the party's nomination.

Mrs. Clinton after speaking with Mr. Sharpton said she is in lock step to deal with "21st-century civil rights issues" such as those Mr. Sharpton is backing.

"These are issues important to our country and ... an agenda that I support," she said.

Only in the Dummycrat party would Al Sharpton be taken seriously and I see HRC wated no time pandering to the pimp daddy!

Former President Jimmy Carter once complained there were "too many Jews" on the government's Holocaust Memorial Council according to the council's former executive director, Monroe Freedman.

Maybe it's because 6 Million peanut farmers weren't systematically annihilated!

Doesn't Carter's picture look like she should have a set of numbers underneath and accompanied by a second side shot?

My wife Chris used to tell me what a wonderful man he is...she doesn't say that anymore!

NEXT!

Gov. Chet Culver said Monday he would push state lawmakers this session to ease Iowa's limits on embryonic stem cell research and to pour money into a new research center at the U of I to put the science into practice.

Speaking in front of a crowd of at least 200 at the U of I's Medical Education and Research Facility, Culver said a "modest" $12.5 million should be dedicated to creating a center for stem cell research at the U of I.

This appeared in the Ragister and happened Thursday, not Monday!

Can these idiots get anything right?

Chester also said this would "get us back in the game", I saw the video on WHO TV/13.

Embryonic stem cell research is anything but a game!

Culver... also stressed the importance of easing restrictions on a type of stem cell research currently banned in the state.

Iowa's ban - enacted in 2002 by Culver's Democratic predecessor Tom Vilsack - restricts scientists from a method of creating human embryos for research.

...Mark Anderson, a professor of cardiology at the U of I, acknowledged the unknowns of the stem cell research currently banned in Iowa...

...Opponents of loosening the limits on embryonic stem cell research say the research crosses an ethical and moral line while offering few advantages over other forms of stem cell research, such as the use of adult stem cells.

"Stem cells are a huge benefit, but an embryonic stem cell wants to grow into a baby," said Sen. Jerry Behn, a Boone Republican. "To me, the proponents of embryonic stem cells are being deceptive. They are alleging that a cure is around the corner and if you're not for embryonic research you're against progress. But adult cells are where the breakthroughs have come from."

CHESTER NOT STUPID?!?!

Lastly, back to Washington...

Senate Democrats quashed a proposal yesterday that would have dramatically increased civil fines on employers who hire illegal aliens.

The proposal came directly out of the employer-sanctions section of the immigration-reform bill approved with overwhelming Democratic support last year.

It would raise the minimum fine on employers from $250 per hired alien to $5,000 per alien. And it would raise the maximum fine from $10,000 per alien to $40,000 per alien.

HYPOCRITES/DUMMYCRATS!

One And Done

Voting early, the Big Lug Nut pronounced it "a winning ballot” as he handed it to a clerk at the Polk County Election Office.

That must mean he voted for Terry Branstad and the scientific community is united in that fact.

“IA GOVERNOR: A lost cause,” the Washington, D.C.,-based Cook Political Report changed its rating of the Iowa governor’s race to favor Republican former Gov. Terry Branstad against Democratic Gov. Chet Culver.

...it seems very unlikely that Culver can make this race competitive.

...Culver has tried every message available to him, and yet has not been able to make a dent in Branstad’s lead. As such, the race moves to the Likely Republican column.”

Queen Of Denial?

You know things aren't going well for the Big Lug Nut, when you have to deny the latest desertion rumors.

Seidler still on job as Culver’s communications chief

Erin Seidler, Gov. Chet Culver’s communications director, hasn’t quit and remains on the job

That's per spokesmonkey Troy Price.

The response though was a little odd, “Erin has not submitted a letter of resignation to the Governor, and she is still an employee of the Governor’s Office. Those are the facts.”

That sounds like something that is stated for legal reasons when there are personnel issues.

Plus, he didn't say she's still the communications director.

Time will tell, after all Abby Curran denied she was leaving a few weeks prior to her resignation.

One has to wonder when the BLN's dog, Buck, will hightail it out of there and the scientific community is united in that fact.

Although, he's probably a lot like Culver in the fact that he'll stay where there's free food and drink.

Men At Work?

Dave Price reports that both the Big Lug Nut and Patty Judge finally found work.

Each is starting their own consulting firm.

Those that can -- do, those who can't --consult.

And the scientific community is united in that fact.

I remember consultants from my radio days, we joked that they were like neutered tom cats.

Culver's company is called The Chet Culver Group, because he's so large he's a group unto himself.

Judge went with PJJ solutions.

Price tactfully points out the errors on their web pages.

Especially telling is the Judge website, where the finalist for Executive Director of the Iowa Association of School Boards misspells achieve.

Also, Page 4 is a blank page that's titled "blank page" with the call us at phone number of (415) 555-5555.

A Fool Such As I

I was surprised to see a report on WHO DT last night that showed what a dope Dummycrat Chet Culver is.

The Big Lug Nut helped break a sweat and ground for a new state building that will house the Iowa Utilities Board.

WHO DT asked Culver, "Do you know where the funding's coming from for this?"

BLN immediately replied, "Yeah, its comes from the legislature, we have all sorts of capitol (capital) improvement funds every year."

Except he was wrong and the scientific community is united in that fact.

State officials sold bonds to raise the money for the building's construction and those bonds are financed, ultimately, by Iowa utility customers.

WHO DT had a sound bite of a reporter informing the Governor about that.

BLN; "Even better yet."

D'OH!

Either through taxes or fees, the BLN is happy anyway he can stick it to Iowans.

BTW, I was surprised it was on WHO DT because Erin Kiernan intro'd the piece at 5.

Kiernan's hubby Michael, is BLN's best buddy and Iowa Dummycrat Partay Chair.

CONfident CONfidence

Trying to Pooh-Pooh all the problems besetting the Big Lug Nut, The Pickle told the press --

"He's in better shape than I was at this point and time in my re-election efforts. I would have been happy to have been in the place that he is in, in June of 2002. I'm very confident that Gov. Chet Culver is going to be re-elected."

The press checked and...

An Iowa Poll taken in June of 2002 showed Vilsack ahead of Republican Doug Gross by 43 percent to 41 percent.

In a poll released last week by KCCI-TV, former Gov. Terry Branstad was the choice of 51 percent of all Iowa voters in a head-to-head matchup with Culver

Revisionist history is always a Croc and the scientific community is united in that fact.
