Performance for Pay

I'm not sure when being a teacher became synonymous with being a saint.

It seems they can do no wrong and one should speak only adoringly of them.

Compared to the average Iowan, whose students they teach, teachers have it pretty good!

Average Iowan's salary for 2005...$31,800

Average Iowa teacher salary for 2005...$40,877

So now Chester wants to add an additional $70 Million dollars
to teacher's salaries for the 2008 fiscal year.

That would make this the largest single increase in teacher pay ever made in the state.

All that and they get the summer off, time off at winter festivus and spring equinox.

Plus, they take time off during the school year too!

Let's not forget health insurance and IPERS retirement.

Teacher activist's will tell you that they work into the evenings, during the summer and they continue their education.

So does the average Iowan, who pays their salary and probably gets two weeks of vacation per year.

I doubt that higher teacher pay will translate to higher graduation rates or improved test scores.

Teachers are people, some good and some bad.

One of my sisters is a teacher and I have long time friends who are teachers too.

They deserve our respect, but no more than any other human being.

Concur with Chester and critical of the Pickle

Chester Culver, Commander of the Iowa National Guard, ordered all flags at state facilities to fly at half staff today.

It's to honor Command Sergeant Major Marilyn Gabbard, killed this month in Iraq.

Culver also encouraged individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities and counties to fly their flags at half–staff as a sign of respect.

Culver said it is a fitting tribute to all of Iowa's fallen soldiers and the executive order will apply to any Iowa soldier killed in future action.

Class move Chester!

I have to wonder why Professor Pickle couldn't find a pen in the Statehouse?

I guess he didn't have a CLUE!

Can't Respect the Clintons

Hillary's foray into Iowa is providing some fodder.

In Davenport, HRC was asked how she would deal with the world's dictators, should she become president.

HRC's response, "What in my background equips me to deal with evil and bad men?".

Various reports have the audience breaking out in laughter.

When reporters brought the subject up later, HRC turned "chilly" according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

One reporter said the audience may have thought the "evil man" was about the "bad side of Bill.''

HRC, "Oh, c'mon, I don't think anybody in there thought that."

Please, it's the first and only thought anyone had!

The Sun-Times found two Iowans in attendance and asked them...

Dustin Burnaugh, 21, a Davenport resident who said he thought she was referring to "the whole Clinton scandal.

"Everyone was thinking it, and she didn't want to say it. That's what everyone was thinking."

Pat Baxter-Rebal 64, of LeClaire said Clinton was making a sly allusion to "her history with her husband, all played out on a public stage...

Back to HRC..."I thought I was funny. You guys keep telling me to lighten up, be funny. I get a little funny and now I'm being psychoanalyzed."

What would Sigmund Freud say?

Maybe..."I have found little that is good about human beings. In my experience most of them are trash".

Or..."From error to error, one discovers the entire truth".

I personally think Freud would sum up his psychoanalysis of the Clinton's this way...

"Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar".

A Democrat I can Respect

On 'Fox News Sunday' Senator Joe Lieberman talked about 2008...

"I'm going to do what most independents and a lot of Democrats and Republicans in America do, which is to take a look at all the candidates, and then in the end, regardless of party, decide who I think will be best for the future of our country".

"So I'm open to supporting a Democrat, Republican or even an independent, if there's a strong one."

As for HRC, Obama and John Edwards, Lieberman said their opposition to the Iraq war would make it difficult for him to support them.

Technically Lieberman's an Independent, so there's my out.

Well blow me down

Three excellent columns at Powerline...

John Kerry disgraced himself yet again...when he launched a salvo against the Bush administration at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

...Kerry's latest folly.

...“When we walk away from global warming, Kyoto, when we are irresponsibly slow in moving toward AIDS in Africa, when we don’t advance and live up to our own rhetoric and standards, we set a terrible message of duplicity and hypocrisy,” Kerry said.

Speaking of duplicity and hypocrisy...Kerry himself has actually had the opportunity to vote on the Kyoto carbon emissions treaty.

...this says it all…

U.S. Senate Roll Call Votes 105th Congress - 1st Session

Vote Date: July 25, 1997, 11:37 AM

Question: On the Resolution (s.res.98 )

Declares that the United States should not be a signatory to any protocol to, or other agreement regarding, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change of 1992, at negotiations in Kyoto in December 1997 or thereafter which would: (1) mandate new commitments to limit or reduce greenhouse gas emissions for the Annex 1 Parties, unless the protocol or other agreement also mandates new specific scheduled commitments to limit or reduce greenhouse gas emissions for Developing Country Parties within the same compliance period; or (2) result in serious harm to the U.S. economy.

NAYs 0
Not Voting 5

Kerry (D-MA), Yea

Duplicitous and hypocritical: that pretty well sums up John Kerry.

What Makes A Protest Newsworthy?

This point is closely related to the "Grim Milestones" post immediately below. Earlier today, "tens of thousands" of demonstrators gathered on the Mall in Washington, D.C. to protest the Iraq war. The cast of speakers was less than impressive: Dennis Kucinich, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, Jane Fonda.

...Organizers said the biggest challenge facing the anti-war movement today is how to hold together a loose coalition of groups with divergent agendas using celebrities who peaked in popularity 10 to 30 years ago.

“The speaker roster reminds me of the old Hollywood Squares game show,” said one unnamed staffer of Vegan Lesbians for Racial and Nuclear Justice, whose dozens of members will cross the continent to join the rally today. “I mean Fonda, Sarandon, Glover and Jackson might as well be Charo, Joan Rivers, George Gobel and Paul Lynde. How am I going get my group excited about geopolitical and military strategy with these has beens leading the way?”

It's hard to say how many people attended the demonstration; the Washington police no longer issue estimates of crowd sizes. Organizers said they were hoping for 100,000, and news accounts say there were "tens of thousands." I haven't seen a photo that shows the entire crowd; this one comes closest:

capt.182347fc4adb4c3381cf4a4824b699c9.iraq_protest_dckw107.jpg

You can't judge from a single picture, but I haven't seen anything that makes me think the demonstration was anything special in terms of turnout.

Contrast this with a demonstration that occurred in the same place, just a few days ago, when"tens of thousands" of demonstrators gathered to protest the 34th anniversary of Roe v. Wade:

IMG_4684.JPG

I don't know which protest was bigger, but I'm pretty sure I can predict which one will get more press coverage. My home-town paper, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, didn't cover the abortion protest at all. Again, whether and how a demonstration is covered has a lot more to do with the political agenda of reporters and editors than with the number or enthusiasm of the demonstrators. And I think we all know what narrative the liberal media are now pushing. It's the "will to lose" that John O'Sullivan identified at the National Review summit last night.

Grim Milestones

...people are talking about a statistic that has been kicking around for a while: illegal aliens murder approximately 12 Americans a day. Is this accurate? I'm not sure; this isn't a statistic that is officially kept, so estimates are based on more informal surveys. The number seems to have been popularized by Congressman Steve King.

While I'm not sure that it's right, the 12 per day figure is plausible. There are 16,000+ murders a year in the U.S., so, if my math is correct, that number implies that, if there are around ten million illegal aliens, they commit about ten times their pro rata share of murders.

Twelve per day works out to 4,380 a year, or around 16,600 during the time that has elapsed since we have been engaged in Iraq. This is more than five times the number of military deaths in Iraq.

My point here is not to argue for the accuracy of Representative King's numbers, but rather to note how discretionary the concept of a "grim milestone" is. If the mainstream media kept a "grim milestone" count on murders of Americans by illegal aliens, imagine how it would re-frame the debate over illegal immigration. But the media have no interest in that particular set of "milestones." What constitutes a "milestone" depends not on the actual magnitude of the issue, but rather on the political agenda of the mainstream media.

Get the Red's Out

OK, maybe Secretary of Treasury or head of Office of Management and Budget.

The Lynching of the President
By Ben Stein

...
The media is staging a coup against Mr. Bush. They cannot impeach him because he hasn't done anything illegal. But they can endlessly tell us what a loser he is and how out of touch he is (and I mean ENDLESSLY) and how he's just a vestigial organ on the body politic right now.

The media is doing what it can to basically oust Mr. Bush while still leaving him alive and well in the White House. It's a sort of neutron bomb of media that seeks to kill him while leaving the White House standing (for their favorite unknown, Barack Obama, to occupy).

...The truth is that we are in a huge economic boom. We are coming off a mammoth real estate explosion that put the most Americans in history in their own homes. We have totally full employment. After decades of stagnation, real wages are rising. Gasoline prices are way, way down. The nation is wealthier than it has ever been (although this is very unevenly distributed). Opportunities for subsidized higher education are better than they have ever been.

Most important of all, who would have ever been rash enough on September 12, 2001 to say there would not be one major or even minor successful terrorist incident against the U.S. homeland in over five years? Who would have thought we would escape without more massive terror? But we have, and it is a foolhardy person who would say that's an accident. Bush may not have done it by himself, but he had something to do with it.

...
no one elected the media to anything. If we let them lynch the man we elected as President we are throwing out the Constitution with the war in Iraq. In the studios and newsrooms, there is a lynch mob at work. Let's see it for what it is. We have a good man who has made mistakes in the Oval Office. He's the only President we have, and I trust him a lot more than I trust unelected princes of the newsroom.

Upon further review

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi...arrived in Baghdad on Friday for talks with U.S. and Iraqi officials...

A U.S. embassy official said Pelosi, had arrived in Iraq at the head of a six-member congressional delegation for meetings with Iraqi and U.S. officials but did not plan any public appearances.

The delegation includes John Murtha, a Democratic Congressman from Pennsylvania, who has also been vocal in his criticism of the Bush administration's handling of the war...

Hmm! Maybe the Dummycrats are right, we should pull out of Iraq....NOW!

Worth a chuckle or twelve, if it wasn't so sad

The Rev. Al Sharpton yesterday threatened to again seek the Democratic presidential nomination unless current contenders, including four senators he visited on Capitol Hill, commit to focusing attention on civil rights issues.

Mr. Sharpton's comments came as he visited Democratic Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, Barack Obama of Illinois and Christopher J. Dodd of Connecticut, the four senators seeking the party's nomination.

Mrs. Clinton after speaking with Mr. Sharpton said she is in lock step to deal with "21st-century civil rights issues" such as those Mr. Sharpton is backing.

"These are issues important to our country and ... an agenda that I support," she said.

Only in the Dummycrat party would Al Sharpton be taken seriously and I see HRC wated no time pandering to the pimp daddy!

Former President Jimmy Carter once complained there were "too many Jews" on the government's Holocaust Memorial Council according to the council's former executive director, Monroe Freedman.

Maybe it's because 6 Million peanut farmers weren't systematically annihilated!

Doesn't Carter's picture look like she should have a set of numbers underneath and accompanied by a second side shot?

My wife Chris used to tell me what a wonderful man he is...she doesn't say that anymore!

NEXT!

Gov. Chet Culver said Monday he would push state lawmakers this session to ease Iowa's limits on embryonic stem cell research and to pour money into a new research center at the U of I to put the science into practice.

Speaking in front of a crowd of at least 200 at the U of I's Medical Education and Research Facility, Culver said a "modest" $12.5 million should be dedicated to creating a center for stem cell research at the U of I.

This appeared in the Ragister and happened Thursday, not Monday!

Can these idiots get anything right?

Chester also said this would "get us back in the game", I saw the video on WHO TV/13.

Embryonic stem cell research is anything but a game!

Culver... also stressed the importance of easing restrictions on a type of stem cell research currently banned in the state.

Iowa's ban - enacted in 2002 by Culver's Democratic predecessor Tom Vilsack - restricts scientists from a method of creating human embryos for research.

...Mark Anderson, a professor of cardiology at the U of I, acknowledged the unknowns of the stem cell research currently banned in Iowa...

...Opponents of loosening the limits on embryonic stem cell research say the research crosses an ethical and moral line while offering few advantages over other forms of stem cell research, such as the use of adult stem cells.

"Stem cells are a huge benefit, but an embryonic stem cell wants to grow into a baby," said Sen. Jerry Behn, a Boone Republican. "To me, the proponents of embryonic stem cells are being deceptive. They are alleging that a cure is around the corner and if you're not for embryonic research you're against progress. But adult cells are where the breakthroughs have come from."

CHESTER NOT STUPID?!?!

Lastly, back to Washington...

Senate Democrats quashed a proposal yesterday that would have dramatically increased civil fines on employers who hire illegal aliens.

The proposal came directly out of the employer-sanctions section of the immigration-reform bill approved with overwhelming Democratic support last year.

It would raise the minimum fine on employers from $250 per hired alien to $5,000 per alien. And it would raise the maximum fine from $10,000 per alien to $40,000 per alien.

HYPOCRITES/DUMMYCRATS!

Brokeback Yucca Mountain?

I love you John Kerry, and I'm so sorry that things didn't work out for our country, but that doesn't take away from the fact that I care about you greatly and remember the times we've spent together. -- Sen. Harry Reid.

Is Harry Reid showing the size of a fish he caught, or how happy John Kerry was to see him?

Could this also have come from the two Senators?...

This is a one-shot thing we got goin' on here.
It's nobody's business but ours.
You know I ain't queer.
Me neither.

I wish I knew how to quit you!

Brokeback got us good, don't it?

What's going on in that Senate cloakroom?

On the heels of SOTU

I received this appropriate e-mail from my friend Cal.

During World War II -- the Japanese developed a way to demoralize the American forces.

Psychological warfare experts developed a message they felt would work.

They gave the script to their famous broadcaster "Tokyo Rose" and every day she would broadcast this same message packaged in different ways, hoping it would have a negative impact on American GI's morale.

What was that demoralizing message? It had three main points:

1. Your President is lying to you.

2. This war is illegal.

3. You cannot win the war.

Does this sound familiar?

Is it because Tokyo Hillary, Tokyo Harry, Tokyo John, Tokyo Teddy, Tokyo Nancy, have all picked up the same message and are broadcasting it on Tokyo CNN, Tokyo ABC, Tokyo CBS, Tokyo NBC, to our troops?

The only difference is that they claim to support our troops before they demoralize them.

Come to think of it, Tokyo Rose told the troops she was on their side, too!

Then today I see this article in the OpinionJournal from the Wall Street Journal Editorial page...

The United States is talking itself into defeat in Iraq. Its political culture is now in a downward spiral of pessimism...

We are not only on the way to talking ourselves into defeat in Iraq but into a diminished international status that may be harder to recover than the doom mob imagines. Self-criticism has its role, but profligate self-doubt can exact a price.

Our slide to a national nervous breakdown because of Iraq is not going unnoticed. Australia's foreign minister, Alexander Downer, has been visiting across the U.S. this week...

"...I hope the American people understand the importance of not retreating and thinking the world's problems aren't theirs".

...On the "Charlie Rose Show" this month, former Army vice chief of staff Gen. Jack Keane, who supports the counterinsurgency plan...said in exasperation: "My God, this is the United States. We are the world's No. 1 superpower. This isn't about arrogance. This is about capability and applying ourselves to a problem that is at its essence a human problem."

...The mood of mass resignation spreading through the body politic is toxic. It is uncharacteristic of Americans under stress. Some might call it realism, but it looks closer to the fatalism of elderly Europe, overwhelmed and exhausted by its burdens, than to the American tradition.

Finally, there's this from The Washington Times/Inside the Beltway column...

A unique study conducted among a sample of Americans during President Bush's State of the Union address measured both positive and negative "emotional" responses.

Emotions of Republicans, Democrats and independents were measured using an Ayer Emotional Battery, "which captures the feelings of participants as they listen to or view advertising or communications," explains HCD Research and the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion.

The results among party affiliation:

Republicans: Wishful, desirous, hopeful

Democrats: Disgusted, irritated, enraged, contemptuous

Independents: Not bored, attentive

It would not be an understatement to state that I am "Disgusted" and "Contemptuous" of Dummycrats!

Dos Clinton's, Part Deux

Hillary Rodham Clinton says her spouse and former Oval Office occupant will be a "tremendous ass

-et."

Bubba told New Yorker's, "I'll do whatever I'm asked to do."

It's a given he'll do whoever he's asked to do, and force himself upon many more.

Bubba said this about HRC, "She's got the best combination of mind and heart...".

It's been proven, she's cold and calculating!

Finally HRC told 'Good Morning America"...

"I'm running to be the president, to make the decisions."

So she wants to be THE DECIDER?!

Oscar Oscar!

Al Gore's schlockumentary, about Gore-bull warming, received two Academy Award nominations today.

Ironically the same day that weather prognosticators suggested that the cold weather expected to hit the U.S. Midwest between Jan. 28 and Feb. 1 will now persist longer than previously expected.

Some forecasters are calling for "the coldest outbreak in years" for large parts of the U.S. between Feb. 2-6.

What happened to Gore-bull warming? Where's El-Nino?

As I told my wife Chris recently, "I hate winter".

I then corrected it to, "I don't mind winter when we're in Maui, I hate winter in Iowa".

Word is that Gore will attend the show next month and will walk the red carpet.

He's scheduled to fly out in his solar powered jet and arrive by solar powered limo, cuz he's carbon neutral after all!

Pure Pickle

The Pickle is drowning in his own brine as he struggles to stay relevant.

Last week he said work in Iraq will leave little money for domestic projects.

"...
we don't have sufficient resources for some of the programs that are so important to keeping the American dream alive".

Ironic coming from a man who wasted over $36,000 of taxpayer money on a booklet touting his worthless two terms.

The Corporation for Enterprise Development put out the Pickle's final report card.

They say Iowa dropped a whole grade in each of three economic performance areas.

A "D" in Employment helped lower the Overall economic performance to a "B".

The state also fell to a "D" for business vitality and a "C" for positioning the state for future growth.

Fortunately, he won't get a chance to pull a fast one over the rest of the country as President.

Pull out Pickle!

You're going to waste more money and you can only hope to out poll Dennis Kucinich.

Here's your sign

Per the Ragister...

The members of the House and Senate Oversight Committee are expected to question top executives of...Mediacom Cable & Sinclair Broadcasting at a meeting...Tuesday.

Leaders of the Oversight Committee....acknowledge that the Legislature does not have the authority to intervene in the dispute. But by hearing from both sides, they hope to bring some clarity to the controversy.

Clarity?

Sinclair wants more money than Mediacom is willing to pay to broadcast Sinclair stations...DONE!

"I'm not naive enough to think we can resolve this, because we have no authority here," said Sen. Thomas Courtney, a Burlington Democrat. "But if we can get people to testify honestly, we'll know where we're at."

Where we're AT?

Good grammar Senator!

Thanks too for wasting tax dollars on an issue you have no clue or authority!

Is there any way we can get these flunkies to work for minimum wage?

They don't know the meaning of IS either

It never ceases to amaze me how thoroughly incompetent the media, the Ragister in particular, can be.

Case in point, a Ragister article written by Farm Editor Jerry Perkins...

A federal conservation program that pays farmers to leave cropland idle drew bipartisan support Saturday in Des Moines from two congressional leaders who will help form agriculture policy.

U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Ia., and U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson, D-Minn., chairmen of the Senate and House agriculture committees...

...U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell, D-Ia., a member of the House agriculture committee...

(Bipartisan was highlighted by me)

Naming and quoting 3 Dummycrats doesn't make it BIPARTISAN!

Conveniently checking Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary I found...

BIPARTISAN: of, relating to, or involving members of two parties bipartisan commission>; specifically : marked by or involving cooperation, agreement, and compromise between two major political parties <bipartisan support for the bill>.

This is not only Perkins' error, blame lies also with the chain of command in the editors who review the article.

I e-mailed Jerry Perkins and we'll see if he replies.

As I've said before about the media...If you can't trust them on the simple things, how can you trust them on the big issues?

The Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin's daughter summed it up best in her appearance at Washington's National Press Club.

She was asked how she compared snakes and reporters.

"I really think I like poisonous snakes".

Out of the mouth of babes.

SCREAM for the NEW Howard Dean

"My view is that the escalation of the war in Iraq is a huge mistake....",so said John Edwards in Iowa City today.

Let's take a look at some mistakes Barnes & Noble Boy!

Edwards signed copies of a book there and it turns out they pay less than the Wal-Mart right next to it!

Edwards had his people take the fall for wanting to get his kid a Play Station 3 at Wal-Mart!

He was John Kerry's running mate!

Edwards Two America's...wait maybe he's right!

How else could a multi-millionaire trial lawyer run for President AGAIN without having paid off his previous debts!

Oh Yeah....Edwards voted to authorize the use of force in Iraq!

"Tomorrow Begins Today", or is it yesterday once more?

The Battle Ax Is In

Hillary Rodham Clinton has announced that she is forming an exploratory committee for president, thereby launching a bid to become the first female chief executive of the United States.

"I'm in," she said on hillaryclinton.com.

Reaction was anything but mixed to the news (pictured)!

I think it's stupid of her to copy "Bambi" Obami's announcement path, via video on the web.

HRC says, "No matter where you live, no matter what your political views, I want you to be a part of this important conversation right at the start".

I'm sure I'll be welcomed with open arms to that "conversation"!

Former Iowa Dummycrat Party Chairman Rob Tully had a conversation about HRC last month...

"In the early states like Iowa and New Hampshire, Democrats really look at electability and quite frankly she is running against herself. "

"...the test will be whether she can beat the image problem, the perception out there that she is not electable among the general electorate."

Pollster Del Ali, of Research 2000, put it this way...

"I think Hillary strikes these voters the same way Senator John Kerry did in 2004. They would really like to vote for someone they really like this time. Hillary doesn't fit that characterization right now."

I can sum up my feelings this way, stop her now!

Clinton comes out swinging

According to Insight Magazine....

Hillary Rodham Clinton's camp is digging up dirt on "Bambi" Obama.

They question whether America is ready for a President who...was educated in a Madrassa as a young boy and has not been forthcoming about his Muslim heritage.

An investigation of Mr. Obama by political opponents within the Democratic Party has discovered that Mr. Obama was raised as a Muslim by his stepfather in Indonesia. Sources close to the background check, which has not yet been released, said Mr. Obama, 45, spent at least four years in a so-called Madrassa, or Muslim seminary, in Indonesia.

....
Sources said the background check, conducted by researchers connected to Senator Clinton, disclosed details of Mr. Obama's Muslim past. The sources said the Clinton camp concluded the Illinois Democrat concealed his prior Muslim faith and education.

"The background investigation will provide major ammunition to his opponents," the source said. "The idea is to show Obama as deceptive."

Interestingly enough I received an e-mail yesterday, from my friend Cal, that went deeper than the Dummycrats do.

Lolo Soetoro who educated his stepson as a good Muslim by enrolling him in one of Jakarta's Wahabbi schools.

Wahabbism is the radical teaching that created the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad on the industrialized world.

Since it is politically expedient to be a Christian when you are seeking political office in the United States, Obama joined the United Church of Christ to help purge any notion that he is still a Muslim.

Hillary and the Dummycrats have their claws out and are eating their young!

It's something they're good at, they've had 34 years of practice after all.

I'm weary of a world

...that celebrates the nothingness of celebrities.

Charles Robert Redford Jr. said at the opening of his Moondance Film Festival..."Anyone with a rational mind and a sense of decency is being positioned as a lefty by the extreme right...".

Fiberals "rational"? That's as funny as when they think they're "progressive" too!

Jr. also said, "I believe in the tenets of democracy, and when they get pushed, it pisses me off."

And..."I'm left-handed, I'm not a very moderate person."

RATIONAL!

Jr. also believes, "I think we're owed a big, massive apology", by U. S. leaders.

What pisses me off is people, like Jr., who live in a sheltered environment and make millions off of make believe, reading other peoples words and having people take their picture thinking they're brilliant.

You owe an apology to the people who went to see 'Downhill Racer', 'Little Fauss and Big Halsey',
'The Hot Rock', 'The Great Waldo Pepper', 'Legal Eagles', 'Havana', 'Up Close & Personal', 'The Last Castle' and 'Spy Game'.

You went out and lied to people, when you promoted those movies, to get them to spend their hard earned money to see your scaly mug.

Roseann O'Donnell is another do as I say Fiberal.

The former Queen of Nice went off, uncocked, again as she railed about American Idol.

Why does anyone care about any of it?

What irritated me is these comments..."I don't think America likes to watch people be ridiculed, made fun of....it's an absurd concept that this is what's tolerable now as consumption in America for mass media."

I forget, aren't you a comedienne (?) who's made fun of people when they're not there?

Didn't you recently dump on Donald Trump?

Seething about Simon Cowell, Roseann said..."That's compassion for you. Isn't that what America thinks is entertainment -- to make fun of someone's physical appearance and then when they leave the room, laugh hysterically at them?".

Roseann continued her diatribe as she, described the judges as "three millionaires...one who's probably intoxicated" -- a reference to her previous comments that she questions what Paula Abdul drinks from her omnipresent Coca-Cola cup.

That's certainly compassionate!

Finally Roseann spoke "some" truth, "If you keep serving people crap and telling them its a meal, eventually they're going to think it's a meal".

Welcome to the career of Roseann O'Donell!

Mmmm, Tasty!

Kennedy's & VietNam

I've always been silently amused when Kopechne Killer Kennedy rants about President Bush & Iraq.

Especially when he wants to call it Bush's VietNam!

It was his idol brother Jack who escalated American involvement in that country by increasing military "advisors", involving Special Forces and finally regular military.

JFK also allowed for napalm & defoliants and free fire zones.

I almost forgot his complicity in the overthrow of the duly elected government of South Vietnamese President Ngo Dinh Diem, probably in Diem's subsequent murder too.

Today I came across an excellent column by Jeff Jacoby that takes Kopechne Killer to task for his complicity in the downfall of VietNam.

Bush played no role in the fall of South Vietnam and Cambodia to the Communists in 1975, of course.

But Kennedy did.

He helped lead the congressional drive to cut off financial aid to the pro-American governments in Saigon and Phnom Penh, brushing aside President Gerald Ford's warning that "the horror and the tragedy that we see on television" would only grow worse if America deserted its allies.

But Kennedy and the Democrats spurned Ford's request, and the result was unspeakable agony -- Cambodia's killing fields, Vietnam's re-education camps, waves of "boat people" hurling themselves into the sea. Having seen the results of US abandonment in Indochina, how can Kennedy advocate the same policy in Iraq?

To me it's simple....whether at Chappaquiddick, VietNam or Iraq all Kopechne Killer Kennedy know's is RUN AWAY!

*****UPDATE*****

James Taranto touched on this also in his Best Of The Web Today in the OpinionJournal from The Wall Street Journal.

His tag line is better than mine....

As much as he likes to preen about his humanitarianism, when the going gets tough, Kennedy's message to those in need is "sink or swim."

Harkin points toward re-election bid

And that's all I've got to say about that.

Double entendres

Amsterdam's red light district is getting a bronze statue dedicated to prostitutes.

Something else for my new friend Jonah to see when he takes his trip.

The statue represents a self-assured woman, her hands on her hips, looking sideways towards the sky, and standing on a doorstep.

...the statue would be a first of its kind and that it had received the blessing of the city authorities.

The precise place where the statue will be laid and its title have not yet been announced...

I suppose it would be appropriate to lay a statue of a prostitute, but aren't most statues erected?

No word if BUBBA has been invited to the dedication.

In August I mentioned how he told an International AIDS Conference...

Prostitutes
"are people, too and they deserve the chance to be empowered to save their lives. To me it's a no-brainer."

That was on the eve of his 60th birthday.

Seems last week someone sent BUBBA a gift, but it ended up clearing a Post Office and caused a visit from a Bomb Squad and the Secret Service.

The package was deemed suspicious because the address was incorrect for the Clinton's Chappaqua residence.

After an X-ray showed no bomb, the box was opened to reveal cookies and they were turned over to the Secret Service.

Box, cookies, Clinton....just like BUBBA, it's too easy!

TOOTing the Obama horn

The most inexperienced candidate in the Dummycrat field has the audacity think he can occupy the White House.

This comes even after
insisting during the 2004 campaign and through his first year in the Senate that he had no intention of running for president.

Barack Obama said Tuesday he is taking the initial step in a presidential bid....

Obama announced on his Web site...that he was filing a presidential exploratory committee. He said he would announce more about his plans in his home state of Illinois on Feb. 10.

He's the biggest threat to Hillary Rodham Clinton and his rock star status shows Dummycrats are worried the country isn't ready to elect her.

"Obambi", according to National Journal, has a more liberal voting record than Hillary Clinton. Last year Mr. Obama had a perfect 100% voting record from both the Americans for Democratic Action and the AFL-CIO.

Last month he said, "This is an office you can't run for just on the basis of ambition. You have to feel deep in your gut that you have a vision for the country that is sufficiently important that it needs to be out there."

Apparently "Obambi" established the vision thing starting in HIGH school when, "I got high [to] push questions of who I was out of my mind."

"Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it...".

According to "Obambi" his drug use started in high school and ending in college.

Out of the closet as well is a cozy relationship with a crooked fund raiser/supporter/neighbor, Antoin "Tony" Rezko.

It hasn't stopped the boy wonder from being proclaimed, "...a new Jack or Bobby Kennedy."

History hasn't been kind to Kennedy.

Late last year, The Atlantic Monthly asked 10 eminent historians to rank the 100 most influential Americans of all time, and Kennedy did not make the cut. Worse, he was named on only two ballots.

...The panelists -- who included Pulitzer Prize winners Doris Kearns Goodwin , Walter McDougall , Gordon S. Wood , and David M. Kennedy -- clearly viewed JFK as more of a phenomenon than a truly influential figure.

...Now, historians seem ready to believe that Kennedy's fame was entirely a matter of style...

The same can be said now for Barack Hussein Obama.

You can't spell joke without JOhn KErry

From The Washington Times Inside the Beltway column...

"I challenge anyone who makes fun of windsurfing to come out and do it with me and see how long they last."

So declares Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, in an upcoming interview with Details magazine that hits newsstands Jan. 23.

I can't wait for the snowboarding challenge, remember that son of a bitch Secret Service agent that caused him to fall.

Or biking, when he fell without the Secret Service's help.

Then there's soccer and football (pictured), baseball and hockey....

Can't we all just get along?

I was distressed, on this day to honor Rodney King....oops Martin Luther King Jr., to hear of the violence in the Dummycrat 2008 Presidential campaign.

Millionaire John Edwards "turned up the heat on Senator Clinton and his other 2008 challengers...".

"Edwards' hit on the front-runner for the Democratic nomination was not lost on the Clinton camp..."

Hillary Rodham Clinton took it as a major threat and then escalated the violence.

"HIL JABS AT JOHN, TAKES HER FIRST SHOT VS. AN '08 PREZ FOE".

She then "ripped into 2008 White House contender John Edwards - her first direct assault on any of her potential Democratic presidential rivals."

"Clinton's surprising broadside came just hours after Edwards.....clearly aimed at Clinton...".

"It is the first time that Clinton has slammed one of her Democratic rivals...".

"Clinton's full-blown response to Edwards signals that her team considers him a...threat."

"Clinton now faces a double-barreled threat from two charismatic contenders, Edwards and Sen. Barack Obama."

Can't they see that violence doesn't lead to peace?

GIVE PEACE A CHANCE!

Literally a Leftist Lug?

This is almost too funny, until you realize this doofus was a teacher of history & government.

Chester Culver took the oath of office for Governor raising his left hand.

Cyclone Conservative explores it further.

Dave Price of WHO/TV 13 touches on it too, but has also uncovered Chester's new word... Literasly.

In the words of Crosby, Stills and Nash..."Teach your children well...".

Time well spent?

The Iowa Department of Administrative Services released guidelines regarding the issue of state employees attending the Governor's inauguration on taxpayer time.

* State employees may attend the swearing-in of Governor Chet Culver at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on official time, with the consent from their supervisor.

* Workers from outside Des Moines can attend on work time, provided the event coincides with their normal work hours.

This comes across as a poor use of taxpayer money, at least 2 1/2 hours of non-work for employees in the area and 8 hours for those in the hinterlands, and an attempt to fill seats...especially when the event was televised.

Take Two....

The Ragister is reporting that, a legislative committee is scheduled to look into the impasse between Mediacom and Sinclair Broadcasting on Thursday.

Sen. Tom Courtney, D-Burlington, the Senate chairman of the Joint Government Oversight Committee, said lawmakers are hearing complaints from constituents after losing KDSM-TV in Des Moines and KGAN-TV in Cedar Rapids from the Mediacom cable system.

"We can't force Sinclair to do anything," Courtney said. "But maybe we'll find out there is something we can do." The hearing is tentatively set for 9:30 a.m. in the Legislative dining room at the Capitol.

Meeting in the dining room? Is this just an attempt to get free donuts?

There is nothing the State can do!

Quit wasting our time, and taxpayer money, with this and meaningless war resolutions!

Courageous Congressman?

More like Douche bag!

Dr. Steve Kagen was elected to Congress from Appleton, Wisconsin and is full of....oh, let's just say bravado of self (b.s.).

Kagen came back from his freshman orientation and b.s.'d a group of local peace activists about his meeting with Karl Rove, Vice President Cheney and President Bush.

Someone in attendance recorded the meeting and put it on a blog, The Scene.

Kagen said his encounter with Rove was in a small White House bathroom....

After Rove washed his hands (“At least he’s a hand washer,” Kagen said), he attempted to leave, but Kagen prevented his departure by holding the door closed and said, “You’re in the White House and you think your safe, huh? You recognize me? My name’s Dr. Multimillionaire and I kicked your ass.”

Kagen expected to make Rove squirm, but said acted like it was a tennis match and simply said, ‘Oh, congratulations.’

“We’re walking up these long steps, I stopped him and said, ‘Look, the race is over. We’re here to do the people’s business. I want you to join me on something, but you can’t steal it, I’ve got the trademark, ‘No patient left behind.’ He goes, ‘I like the sound of that.’

...We get to the top of the steps and there’s Vice President Cheney with a glass of white wine and a hand in his pocket. So I wasn’t going to miss this opportunity.

‘Mr. Vice President, thank you for your service to the nation, and thank you so much for coming to Green Bay and campaigning against me. I couldn’t have won without your help.’

....Then we had an opportunity to take a picture with the president and his wife. I was feeling real good at this point.

We’re introduced by a Marine. I said, ‘Mr. President , thank you for coming to Green Bay. My name is Dr. Multimillionaire. That was before the race. Now they call me Doctor Thousandaire. I couldn’t have won without you coming.’”

He said Bush gave one of his smiles and said, ‘I’ve lost a lot of money in my life, too.’ Then I go to his wife, ‘Hi Barbara, how are ya?’ I did that because I learned on the campaign that the meanest thing you can say to another gentlemen is, ‘he’s a fine fellow,’ and you then refer to his spouse by a different name.”

Now that's a clASSy fellow!

Word got back to the White House about Kagen's b.s. and a source told the Oshkosh Northwestern the story..."is not the way it happened at all. He did not call the first lady Barbara. He did not block the door to the men's room."

It appears now the CONgressman may not be sticking to his story...he won't comment on whether he referred to Laura Bush as Barbara.

"I'm going to leave that one alone," Kagen said. Asked why, he said, "I'll make no comment."

As for his exchange with Rove, Kagen said he can verify that they met in the men's room and that Rove congratulated him. But he wouldn't comment on his reported comments to Rove.

The Congressman's b.s. is now, per the A.P., biting him in the behind.

Federal health officials have warned freshman Rep. Steve Kagen that his Wisconsin allergy practice is in apparent violation of federal law for manufacturing and selling allergy shots without a valid license.

According to a letter sent to Kagen by the Food and Drug Administration, Kagen manufactured a variety of ragweed and grass allergen vaccines from commercially distributed pollen and sold the shots to patients at his clinic and in at least 24 other states.

The FDA letter, which was dated Dec. 18 but wasn't posted online until Thursday, said that Kagen, D-Wis., did not have a valid license required for introducing a biological product into interstate commerce.

...The letter does not make reference to any action it is contemplating against Kagen, but says that it is Kagen's responsibility to make sure products marketed by his firm are in compliance with federal laws and regulations.

I think the next time Congressman Kagen is in the White House he'll watch where he relieves himself.
